In this area, Angular dominates, yet. When an Angular developer is asked why he likes Angular, usually he says something like these:
- it's very popular
- community size is important
- every company looks for Angular developers
- candidates frequently mention it in their CVs
And so on.
Ember, React and VueJS developer also have their causes why they use the framework they use.
My non-representative poll shows that e.g. Angular developers/companies are getting stuck in Angular stack. On the other hand, it's funny to see that something is changed in Backbone scene It seems they recognized that they should open for other frameworks since Backbone lost its popularity in last years.
But what's wrong with specialization which could be recognized in case of Angular stack?
Answer is Titanis walleri. This killer bird lived from early pliocene to early pleistocene. Its ancestors lived in South America. There were no jungle in South America, but rare forest ruled flora. Thus, ancient killer birds hunted for mid-size animals and caught them in short-term, fast pursuits.
Unfortunately, North and South America joined each other and climate cooled down.
Smilodon broke into killer birds' world, and Titanis also used this connection to move to North. Where not just smilodon but giant wolves lived. These races had very different tactics in hunting than Titanis had. Smilodon's tactic was slink, giant wolves hunted in groups.
Plus, rare forests were replaced by large savannahas.
Titanis extinct.
Mr. Kiyosaki summarized hazard of specialization in a very shocking sentence:
"The more specialized you become, the more you are trapped and dependent on that specialty."
Then why the hell we do that?
No surpise: due to internal and external compulsions.
Laziness, busyness, belonging to a community, many-many reason against breaking out from trap of one framework. Framework owners and creators are also responsible for this situation, since their goal is to make their frameworks more and more popular. And slogans they figure out help them to achieve their goals. It's the modern world, this is how marketing works. ;)
Question naturally arises: how we could avoid hazard of specialization.
And answer is so simple: motivation, both positive and negative motivation. It could be also great if you keep your mind opened for new skills, techniques, technologies, tools, frameworks and so on.
Everybody everywhere says these, now it might be worth to listen to them! ;)
