This document outlines an agenda for an ASC Rising Stars training event held on April 27-28, 2015. It includes introductions and icebreakers, presentations on the company's history and culture, paradigms and habits for success. Participants engage in activities exploring communication, listening skills, and right brain thinking. They are assigned to read "A Whole New Mind" by Daniel Pink and discuss applying its concepts to improve ASC. The goal is to help students develop career skills and mindsets for a changing world.
Write It Forward: From Writer to Successful Author 10-24-17Bob Mayer
Presentation to Writers Digest Conference. How does one make the leap from being a writer to a successful career as an author? It requires much more than just writing the book.

Don't Change A Thing: Why Your Style is EXACTLY What Your Project, Team, & Or...Leslie Stein
Original session description when presented at ASHP Midyear Conference (Anaheim, CA; December 2014):
Description:
You are a success. Yes. YOU! Think about it, you’ve overcome every single obstacle ever put in front of you to be standing (or sitting) where you are today. Every. Single. One. So why not admit you’ve got it going on? That you do indeed know what you’re doing and have figure out a secret to success?!
Did you catch that? A secret to success…not THE secret to success. Where most of us fail is not in our brilliance, but in how we share our message with others. This session is designed to do two things around that issue.
First, it will increase your awareness of the styles, traits, & superpowers YOU actually poses. Because you cannot consciously use what you don’t know about. Second, it will help you better understand OTHERS and how you might make tweaks or alter your approach to get them on board to achieve your goals instead of resisting you every step of the way.
As a result of this session, attendees will:
· Increase self-awareness of their styles, traits, & superpowers
· Better understand the strengths of other styles & how to adjust when working with them
· Learn how to frame & present their ideas in new ways
· Interact with all the styles to share inspiration, insight, & secrets of success
My slides for a CfE lesson on 'What is Success?' — the outcome is the important thing.
In general, this is an exercise in encouraging the learners to define success on their own terms, then finding a way of sharing this with an audience using whatever means they think most suitable/appropriate/fun/they can do.
I set them off on the task, give them a fortnight to complete it, and want to see work they are proud of.
Feel free to take/adapt and share... though if you wish to use this commercially, please contact me for permission. Thanks.

"Yes, and...": What Agencies Can Learn from ImprovYoung & Rubicam
Y&R Canada’s SVP and Strategic Planning Director Kasi Bruno – who recently completed her first improv class, and Sulaiman Beg, Director of Global Digital and Social Communications – who is a performer at the Magnet Theater in New York highlight some of their key improv learnings that will make agencies more innovative and effective as brand champions.
Historically, most people spent most of their lives interacting with people from the same culture and who spoke the same language. Globalization has put more people from different backgrounds in direct contact with each other, and this trend is only accelerating. The next adventure of humankind is learning to be effective working on diverse teams – overcoming language and cultural gaps, and making the most of the varied perspectives and ideas that people from different backgrounds bring. This involves understanding the impact of culture, understanding one’s own cultural style, learning effective techniques for communicating with those who have different styles, and learning how to bridge the language barrier.
This session will explore these issues, with a focus on what everyone can do to make communication in their teams more effective. You’ll come away from this session with a new awareness as well as things you can try right away.

How to get inspired, not perspired, and prevent yourself from being expired, with Peaceful Warrior Strategies. Taken from Dan Millman's book 'Way of the Peaceful Warrior', the 6 strategies and lessons will last you a lifetime
Do you hold people accountable in your personal and professional life? Here are ideas to consider when you need to do this and could use a refresher or motivation.
Critical thinking relates to how we make decisions and use our judgement. As a leader it is also about how we take action. Critical thinking involves many components. In this training we will address a few of them.
This is a slide presentation from a TV training class conducted by Austin Petersen, editor of The Libertarian Republic and Chief Executive Officer of Stonegait LLC.
This class is to teach people how to get booked on television news, and how to act when they are on.
It has become widely understood that effective language learning involves more than the four integrated skills of ELT. The missing link is the fifth dimension ........that of teaching thinking. This PIPP will explore the cognitive processes employed by learners in a drama lesson and see how they relate to the development of higher order thinking skills. Reference will be made to Fisher's model of language learning, Heathcote's premise that drama IS education, Baldwin’s cross reference chart and Cummins´ quadrant of cognitive processes. There will be some theory and lots of activity.
