Creating Good Characters in Children and Young Adults.
In today's society, children witness behaviors that are completely unacceptable, often on a daily basis. That is why Melvin Feller has developed this curriculum and wants to share it on all levels with anyone and everyone! Melvin Feller believes in improving lives as a long-term goal!
These actions could be as simple as a rude comment, a lack of courtesy or it could be much worse. Some kids will see or experience verbal, physical, and/or sexual abuse. Young people are very good at hiding their problems, so don't assume a child is doing fine, based on his/her appearance.
If they are not experiencing these behaviors in person, they see it on television, in their music, and in their video games. After viewing these behaviors enough, these Children and Teenagers begin to think the actions are acceptable or at the very least - normal. Unfortunately, the next step in their progression is to begin acting out what they see. If they do this enough, it becomes a habit. This is such a vicious cycle.
Several years back, I decided that something needed to be done about it. I can't remove the students from their experiences, but I can provide them with good, nurturing experiences. This was the basis for my creation of Your Character Counts Program.

- 1. Personal Statement My Strengths I am confident to speak to adults, when they approach me, I have learnt to be so confident and approachable because of my job as a waiter. Furthermore I am not hesitant to ask questions if I am unsure of a task I have been set. I am a friendly, polite boy with lots of energy. I am quite a calm person as well and work well in groups of people contributing with good and useful ideas. My Weaknesses I do not have many weaknesses but the ones I do are only minor. For example my eye sight isn’t the best, so I wear glasses or contact lenses. I am not the best of spellers either but I try my best and any word I do not how to spell I can either ask someone or look it up on Google. Furthermore, I do not like public speaking and presenting to a group of people. I would obviously do it if asked by my employer but I am not confident enough to speak really clearly and I normally stumble on my words. Uni Options When I go to university I would like to either do: Photography,Film and Television or Television production. My first option is to do photography. I would like to do photography because I would hopefully get a job at a magazine company and then I would go to the x-games or other smaller snowboarding events to start of and take pictures of the competition. As I am also a snowboarder on my free time I could go snowboarding across the mountain. Skills and Achievements I have had a job at Puccinis Restaurant in Swinton since the age of 15, I got the job by doing work experience in year ten at the restaurant and because I worked hard and impressed the boss I was offered a job to work there. But because of my age I could only do restricted hours, but it was good experience. Also I snowboard and I have been for about 3 years now, this shows that I am healthy and active.
