Personal Brand
Exploration
Yazmeen Wahdat
Identity
I’ve been obsessed with music, ever since I
can remember. Any chance I got, I’ve always
surrounded myself with music whether it was
performing in different academies or working
in New York City in different off Broadway
musicals. I’ve always known music was
something I couldn’t live without and I know
it’s something I need to work in, in my future!
Profession
Artist and Repertoire
A&R Reps work to scout talent, attend shows, listen to demo discs, and negotiate contracts
and deals. They will also sort of manage musicians they help sign and can decide whether or
not to sign other artists to the label they work for!
Artist Management
A manager handles the day to day business dealings on behalf of the musician. The
manager’s job is to take the vision of the artist and map out a viable plan, and execute it. A
manager is also like the ring-leader since the agents, lawyers, publicists, business managers,
promoters, and even the labels don’t make any moves without speaking with the manager.
Tour Management
Tour managers can sometimes be considered the workhorse of the tour crews since they take
part in everything! They can double as a road crew member, be responsible for the
organization and responsibilities of getting venues, transportation, and hotels in order! They
also may be in charge of tour finances as well!
Target Audience
Recruiters and hiring managers at Warner
Music Group or Universal Music Group who
can help me work in A&R or Artist
Management.
Recruiters and hiring managers at Live
Nation who can help me become a Tour
Manager.
Career Goals
Following graduation I hope to get an internship
with Warner Music Group in New York City
Five years after graduation I hope to be an official
A&R representative with Warner Music Group,
handling several artists
Ten years after graduation I hope to me the A&R
manager at Warner Music Group, overlooking my
A&R representatives for the label.
