This document discusses contradictory events in science. It defines contradictory events as misunderstandings that arise from a lack of alignment between a person's knowledge and actual scientific concepts. Contradictory events can be addressed using the Predict-Observe-Explain technique, where students make a prediction, observe the results of an experiment, and then explain any differences between their prediction and observation. Two examples are given: an egg floating in salt water, which occurs due to the higher density of salt water; and oil and water not mixing, as their molecular attractions cause them to separate.
