This document discusses the key design principles and acoustical considerations for performing arts and cultural centres. 2. What is Performing art and cultural
centre?
•A multi-use performance space that is intended for
use by various types of the performing arts, including
dance, music and theatre. The intended multiple use
of performing arts centers in this sense differentiates
them from single-purpose concert halls.
•A cluster of performance spaces, usually but not
always under one roof, each possibly designed for a
specific purpose such as symphonic music or
chamber music or theatre, but multi-purpose as a
whole

6. PRINCIPLE OF DESIGN
The horizontal angle to the center line at which
objects onstage, upstage of the curtain line, cease to
bear the intended relationship to other objects

The reverberant sound in an auditorium
dies away with time as the sound energy
is absorbed by multiple interactions with
the surfaces of the room. .
Reverberation time is defined as the time for the
sound to die away to a level 60 decibels or
(1/1,000,000) below its original level.
