10. Heart Rate
- is a very important measurement
in many fitness tests and in
exercise science research.
- refers to the speed of the
heartbeat, specifically the number
of heartbeats per unit of time. The
heart rate is typically expressed as
11. The normal heart rate ranges from 60–100 bp
Heart rate is measured by finding
the pulse of the heart.
Two Most Common Location of Pulse
Carotid pulse Radial pulse
12. Resting Heart Rate- refers to the
number of times your heart beats in one
minute while at rest.
Maximum Heart Rate (maxHR)- is the
fastest your heart can beat in a minute.
Target Heart Rate- is a percentage of
your MaxHR.
- Typically, you determine a range of
heart rates ("Target Zone") that represents
your desired workout intensity
13. • Once you found your pulse
• Count how many beats occur in 10 seconds
• Multiply this number by 6
14. To estimate your maximal heart rate,
simply subtract your age from the number
220.
Example:
MaxHR= 220-age
=220-12
=208 bpm
15. To estimate your target heart rate,
simply multiply the MaxHR by a range of
65 - 85% intensity
1. 220-age = _______
2. _________ * .70 =Target Heart Rate
16.
17. Low intensity
Heart rate is 70 – 110 bpm
Moderate Intensity
Heart rate is 120 – 160 bpm
High Intensity
Heart rate is more than 170 bpm
18.
19. MaxHR = 220 – Age
= 220 – 13
= 207
TargetHR = MaxHR x
.70
= 207 x .70
= 144.9
20. MaxHR = 220 – Age
= 220 – 15
= 205
TargetHR = MaxHR x
.70
= 205 x .70
= 143.5
21. MaxHR = 220 – Age
= 220 – 20
= 200
TargetHR = MaxHR x
.70
= 200 x .70
= 140
22. MaxHR = 220 – Age
= 220 – 25
= 195
TargetHR = MaxHR x
.70
= 195 x .70
= 136.5
23. MaxHR = 220 – Age
= 220 – 39
= 181
TargetHR = MaxHR x
.70
= 181 x .70
= 126.7
