Peer review is when another person reviews a writer's work and provides feedback on how to improve the paper. When peer reviewing, the reviewer checks for a strong thesis statement, good topic sentences, organization, transitions, coherence, and grammar/spelling mistakes. The reviewer makes notes with questions to help the writer improve but doesn't fix things themselves. The reviewer should be specific in their feedback and then discuss it with the writer to help them strengthen their work.

• Does everything tie back to the thesis?
• Is there a good conclusion?

• When peer reviewing make sure you don’t fix things
for them
• Ask question and make notes on where it can
improve
• Let the writer think for themselves and if they need
more help or guidance they will ask you to elaborate
• Make sure your marks are clear
• Don’t forget to talk through it with them when you
are done looking at it

5. Things to stay away from
• “Your paper was good!”
• “I liked it.”
• “I didn’t like your conclusion.”
• Be specific with what is wrong on their paper!!
