The Pawnee lived on the Great Plains, which had hot temperatures and rarely saw rain. They hunted bison and gathered various plants for food. The Pawnee built earth lodges and long houses out of grass, mud, and dirt near rivers for shelter. Men wore buffalo and deer skins while women wore beaded dresses and moccasins. The Pawnee used every part of the bison for items like pelts, food, and tools.
