(TB)
What is tuberculosis?
TB is old
,communicable,
infectious, disease
affecting human
population. It is one of
the major cause for
death and morbidity in
developing countries.
How TB is caused?
It is caused by the
infectious bacterium
called Mycobacterium
Tuberculosis

When the person
suffering from TB
coughs, sneezes, the
bacteria usually
transmits so that close
contact (Habitat)
unhygienic lifestyle
may lead to TB, It can
affect any age group
and sex.
How common is TB?
2. It is one of the leading
cause of illness and
death in devolping
countries , more than
8.6 million cases TB
has been identified as
per report WHO in
2010 , It is common in
Asian African and
middle east countries.

reported till 2010 as
per WHO report.
How I can recognise
TB?
Majorly TB affects the
lungs and commonly
recognised by
following symptoms.
1. Persistent cough for
more than 15 days .
2. Mild to moderate
chest pain.
3. Evening rise of body
temperature (mild
fever).
4. Difficulty in
breathing.
5.Decreased interest in
food.
6. Unexplained weight
loss.
7. Blood may seen in
sputum in severe cases.

differentiated and
confirmed?
TB is diagnosed
(confirmed) by doing
certain laboratory tests
1.Routine daily sputum
test for 3 consecutive
days to find the
presence of bacteria.
2.Mantoux test is done
to find out the presence
of tuberculin infection.
3.Chest X ray can be
done to visualize the
caeseous (dead tissue
surrounding bacteria)
matter and
consolidation.(solidific
ation of sputum)
4) Blood test for AFB
Bacili
5).Culture and
sensitivity test is done
to identify the
resistance of bacteria

antitubercular drugs.
