1. Analysing Past Student Work
In this screenshot it shows a close up on the main character in this opening sequence which then
suggests that he is going to follow the storyline forwards. He is also positioned to the left of the
picture which then is able to show the audience the location and the surrounding making up the
storyline as-well as the characters. The background is also blurred which makes the foreground
which is the subject of this shot more in focus and easier to see.
In this screenshot it shows an over the shoulder shot of the main character and suggests
movement from the certain shot type. I like how its blurred so much in the background which is
making the foreground more visible and clear to see. I also like the speaking over the top when
these shots are being shown. It tells more of a narrative and storyline with the talking over. This is
something that I would really like to do within my thriller opening.

2. In this screenshot it shows the main character leaning against the tree looking out to the scenery,
this may suggest the thoughts going around in his head. I like how this shot is showing more of the
scenery which is suggesting that somethings going to happen there and almost foreshadowing the
ending of their thriller opening.
In this screenshot we can see the detective eating against the wall which is suggesting his body
language is chilled and relaxed and he is in control of the plot and what happens. Due to him
looking at his watch this is suggesting that something is about to happen and almost prepares us
for the worst which is going to happen.

3. In this screenshot you can see a close up on the, what we think, is the detective with the cards in
his hand which causes tension and carries on the storyline. This is also a typical thing for a
detective to do so it gives us a profile of the detective and what he is like.
In this very long shot of the bridge just after we see the couple on the bridge it suggests that the
detective is either watching them or that this is a important location for the thriller sequence. I know
this from the length to time this is shown for and how it keeps going in and out of focus to the
branches around it, this may be reinforcing the fact that its important and this is where crimes
happen. The in and out of focus effect may then hint towards secretively.
