Stills of our rough cut
SCENE 1 -This is the first scene of our sequence, in which
we see the main character standing in his bedroom. As
the camera zooms in, it creates an eerie feel as it
questions who he is and why he is staring out the window.
The fact that his face is not very clear leaves the audience
wondering and follows the theme of identity as we never
see his full face throughout the sequence.
The next significant scene is a montage of disturbing
clips, eg. Blood dripping into the sink and the main
character throwing away the evidence. By adding this
scene, it shows the sequence is a thriller and contrasts
with the other scenes as compared to this scene, the
others are quite casual.
This still shows a close up of the main characters eye
, which follows the theme of identity, as it makes you
question why they are only showing the eye. Also, the
fact the camera is not completely still makes the eye
appear as if it is tense and nervous.
This scene is where a small evidence of horror is added, this
is what makes our thriller more psychological. This scene is
suppose to show the murderer being haunted by his actions
(e.g. the murder he has committed)
The shot is a mid-close up and at a slight birds-eye view angle
to show what the character is looking down at. The
movement of the hand is very sudden making the character
jump as we see in the next scene. This camera angle links well
to the last one where the camera is placed under the bed to
make us feel like we are the person hiding under the bed.
This is the next significant scene where we see the
horror side to the sequence. This adds to the storyline
of the film and lets the audience know that a murder
has taken place. It leaves us wondering if this is linked
to the hand under the bed. It gives the audience a lot to
think about.
This scene follows the theme of identity as once again, we aren't
shown his face. It also suggests how he is trying to live his
everyday routine as if nothing has happened, however he is still
haunted by it regularly by his crime. This is effective because it
leaves an enigma of who the ‘killer’ is. This also means that
nothing big is given away in the opening sequence.
This symbolizes the murder that has taken place within the
thriller. This indicates that the murder is destroying the
evidence. From this we can tell it has been a gruesome
murder. This picture has also been included in our
poster, therefore it is symbolic.
This still is significant because we see our main subject
looking out the window but we are unsure if he is looking
at something or just gazing. This also gives the feel that he
is reflecting on the crime he has committed. We can also
tell he is in his own home as he seems quite relaxed.
This scene shows the character disposing of the ‘victims’
shoes. Again we do not see the subjects face nor do we have
any indicating of who the victim is. However from this scene
we can tell that the victim was a female as the shoes that he is
throwing away are women’s.
This is the last scene of our sequence, and is very significant as it
shows a stranger that we have not seen yet knocking on the door.
At the end of the sequence we are left wondering who it is. Is it the
police or an accomplice? We do not find out. This is what drags the
audience in to watch the rest of the film. To find out who the
strange figure is knocking at the door and whether our antagonist is
found out.
