1. In what ways does your
media product
use, develop or
challenge forms and
conventions of real
media products?
2. Me and my groups opening sequence incorporates generic conventions of a real media
products as like many other opening sequences. It follows a traditional opening sequence
as it starts with flashbacks of what has happened within the film, these flash backs are not
in a linear sequence however they do show aspects of the story previous to what the
audience would see as this give them background story for the rest of the film to
come, giving them a better understanding. Also some of the flashbacks are from scenes
within the film and this will give the audience an idea of what is to come and allow them to
ask questions about what may come within the film which is what a thriller is meant to do
to the audience.
3. My opening sequence challenges conventions as there is a lot of use of jump shots which
is not as regularly seen as this may be seen to give away too much information. Usually
the opening sequence of a thriller will be a long clip of a sequence as this will not give
away too much information however the fact that a lot of jump shots have been used
makes our opening sequence different also it can raise more questions as the audience
will have a better understanding of the characters and question what may happen next and
how it may happen next as it seems to be obvious however after the rest of the film will
confuse and surprise the audience.
4. The conventions of our opening sequence and the clips used in our opening sequence do
indicate what the sub-genre within the film is as the pictures used and the way the
character portrays jealously makes it obvious to the audience that the sub-genre is love
however this will trick the audience as they will assume that what is to follow after the
opening sequence is predictable however they will bewildered.

through pictures of the couple she is stalking

feels for the couple especially the girl which is an
small indication as to what will happen in the feel.

behaviour she portrays.
This is a close up of a picture that the stalker has, it
indicates the other characters within the film and show
the closeness and love in their relationship which is a
key aspect of the film.
5. The opening sequence to Quentin Tarantino’s kill bill Volume 2 has heavily influence our
opening sequence as there is flash backs of an incident used, which is very similar to the
flash backs with in our opening sequence and also the use of black and white in the kill
bill volume 2 opening sequence creates a eerie effect which is something that we had
wished to portray in our opening sequence however we used a sepia effect instead of a
black and white effect to show a difference and also to the sepia effect also creates the
eerie atmosphere whilst at the same time showing and creating more of an emotion with
the sombre effect. However there are differences, within the kill bill volume 2 opening
sequence there is a lot of talking and background noise throughout, within our opening
sequence there is no background noise and simply background music which creates
suspense as the music gradually builds.
