The list provided gives an accurate amount of technology devices in each
school. Each school has at least: over 150 workstations, 8 printers, 7
switches, 2 servers, and 2 laptops.
The technology plan also gives a summary of the types of connectivity, amount
of student computers provided in each school, types of Windows domains,
and Email and Anti-virus servers provided

There were several items promised in this section, and while most of them were
fulfilled, we have yet to receive every item. Among the items promised consist of
attaining computers-on-wheels, use of Study Island, and the purchase of primary
math and language arts software. We did not receive 12-13 computers in each
computer lab or subscription services: Reading A-Z and United Streaming. The
district also sought to and achieved updated WAN to increase bandwidth and link
all sites together, centralized firewalls, servers, and email, upgraded inter school
phones, increased amount of cameras, and a new phone system for throughout
each school. The remaining items have not been accomplished at this time and
include a voice broadcasting system, wireless hot spots, and ceiling mounted
LCD projectors to classrooms.

The tech plan says that the district will use a large monitor for visually impaired
students. I had a visually impaired student and never received a larger
monitor. Headphones and speech-to-text voice recognition devices are also
provided upon request.

The district does upgrade lab computers approximately every 4 years but does

Sonic Wall Internet Appliance at each school with a yearly subscription.

The AUP is provided in Appendix A and details the goals of the technology
department intended for students and staff. It also gives an extensive list of
standards for use of computer networks and behaviors that will not be tolerated.

A list of common procedures used by teachers to integrate technology into
curriculum. It does state that collaborative time is provided between
technology and classroom teachers, which is not. This is the only bullet out
of 11 that is not accurate.

This statement is accurate, while the degree of technology knowledge varies
amongst teachers, all classroom teachers use the computer to track
attendance, do report cards, and have an e-mail account. It also states that

acquired and more hands-on training needs to be provided. (We had a brief
session at a recent in-service for 2nd

sounded realistic but some seemed like they would be hard to attain, especially
back in 2004-2007.

* Each goal details a way that it has been achieved and actively attained in the
classroom. Some of the goal's evaluations seemed a little broad and unrealistic

several of the goal evaluations and I have never heard about use of this database

* Almost all goals from the '04-'07 goals were listed with the exception
of # 14 dealing with learning and applying fitness concepts and skills

Goal # 14 was modified to All teachers will become proficient in technology to
improve achievement. The objectives state that they do this by using Smart
Boards to integrate technology in the classroom, which teachers do through the
use of newly acquired Smart Boards (The PTA for each school has bought Smart
Boards so there is not an equal amount between schools). Another objective was
to access and analyze student data and this can currently be achieved through the
use of the clickers that were provided for each school, however there was only 1
brief training session. This can also be achieved by using Study Island which
ample training has been provided but only grades 3-6 use this program. The third
objective is for teachers to have a web page and while this is encouraged, it is not
required. Finally they mention using EBSCO, which again, I have never heard of
in my district. Two additional goals were also listed. Goal 15 states that the
district will provide subscription services, which has been attained through the
purchase and use of Study Island and Education City. Finally, goal 16 says that
the district will purchase computers on wheels for the 6th
grade and this goal was
achieved over and beyond, because every grade level in every school has access
to a set of computers on wheels.

classroom. It is up to those people to address these problems on their
own time.

professional day, which is true. These forms, however, are not always
filled out and/or given back. It also mentioned there would be an on-line
survey by Zoomerang.com, which I have never been exposed to.

Students are assessed by the technology teachers on the various projects
and given a grade on their report card at the end of each quarter. Another
way the students are assessed is through the use of programs such as Study
Island and Education City.

This statement was very broad simply describing students enthusiastic
attitudes toward technology, which will help to build life-long learning
skills.

* Where does your district do well?
My district did well in achieving new goals and attaining and upgrading technology equipment. When I first
came to the district that I teach in I considered it pretty behind technological times. This is already my third
year and since I started we have switched to electronic attendance/report cards, electronic system for student
lunch, attained numerous Smart Boards for each school, a lap top cart for each school, and a clicker system
for each school. They have also updated many teacher and student computers. I think that this is a lot to
achieve in a short time.
* Where does your district not do as well?
My district does not do as well in the area of professional development. We do have four district-wide in-
services and most of the workshops either do not apply to many of the teachers or the school does not
provide enough reinforcement or follow-up. It is almost like they introduce you to the concept, idea, or tools;
you use them; and then nobody ever talks about it again. I also think it would be more beneficial to offer
specialized workshops for special education teachers.
* What was promised in the first year that was not delivered?

13. An objective under one of the new goals was for “teachers to use EBSCO and other data bases to better plan
their lessons and for professional development.” I have never even heard EBSCO mentioned, never mind
been given training on how to use this database or ideas on how it may be helpful to my classroom.

My district may have to consider having less money available due to our nation’s economy and especially
considering that our local budget has not passed in several years.
