11. Intel in the AWS EC2
AWS utilizes Custom Intel® Xeon® processors providing customers with high performance
and value available in EC2, using high core count high frequency processors
C4, D2, M4 Instance types are optimized for different use cases & come in multiple sizes,
so users can optimally scale resources to workload requirements
– Better Performance with Intel® AVX for highly parallel HPC workloads (e.g life science engineering, data
mining, financial analysis) AVX also enhances image, video and audio processing
– Enhance security with Intel® AES-NI these new encryption instructions that reduce the performance
penalty associated with encrypting/decrypting data: free-up more cycles for your workloads!
– Get more computing power with Intel® Turbo Boost Technology when needed with performance that
adapts to spikes in workload with Intel® Turbo Boost Technology 2.0

13. Intel in AWS Solutions
• Scale out analytics manage and process massive amounts of data
from any source. Amazon EMR runs on the Amazon EC2 service
• Scale out data warehouse Amazon Redshift provides a managed
massively parallel petabyte scale data warehouse
• Scale up analytics leverage in memory computing for unfettered data
access. SAP users can launch entire enterprise software stacks on the
AWS platform and use multicore optimized instances in either single-
node or scale-out configurations
• Analytics at the edge for the internet of things ingest and analyze data
streams in real time using Intel intelligent gateways at the edge
connected to Amazon services such as Kinesis and or AWS IoT
• Intel Security Management and protection technology available from
the AWS Market Place to secure your cloud and physical infrastructure

IoT Gateways are used to connect
edge devices to the cloud and help filter
data in areas such as:
• Industrial
• Smart City
• Smart Building
• Retail
• Transportation
• Finance
• Healthcare
Intel® IoT Gateway-based solutions provide
standard features, plus:
• Strengthen security through silicon-based security
capabilities
• Enable near-real-time edge analytics for actionable insight
at the edge
• Support micro services and vertical packages
• Enable deployment of new applications/services

1 - ODM initiates Gateway provisioning by sending
device inventory data (list of Gateways, serial
number, certs) to Helix Device Cloud (HDC). HDC
ingests device inventory data securely through REST
APIs.
2 - AWS IoT Hub gets device inventory data
via HDC APIs.
3 - Provisioning Applications takes care of
provisioning subscriptions.
4 - Once customer powers ON the Gateway,
the device securely boots up and HDC
attests the Gateway
5 - HDC inserts device certificates into AWS
device registry via APIs
6 - AWS agent authenticates with AWS IoT
Hub using device certificates on the GW
(Hardware Root of Trust) and establishes
secure data path to the cloud
7 - Business Applications on the
device acquires data from connected
sensors
8 - AWS IoT Client on the Gateway
transmits sourced data up to AWS IoT
9 - Data messages are routed, processed,
stored and made available for enterprise
integration
10 - Application Software Manager
pushes the updates to HDC using APIs
11 - HDC prepares signed RPM
packages and pushes it securely to the
Gateway
12 - The Intel agent on the Gateway
gracefully upgrades the Software
