These seem pretty complicated! Don’t worry, at the
end of the session, it will all make perfect sense!
When the British Government were
asked this question, this is what
they said:
3. Democracy means everyone’s voice matters because
we can each vote to solve problems.
Value 1: Democracy
Let’s practise some voting
We should all stand up and
sit down 3 times
4. Democracy means everyone’s voice matters because
we can each vote to solve problems.
Value 1: Democracy
Let’s practise some voting
We should pull a funny
face at the teacher for 3
seconds
5. Democracy means everyone’s voice matters because
we can each vote to solve problems.
Value 1: Democracy
Let’s practise some voting
We should keep our hands
on our head all lesson
Stretch: Can you think of one more thing to vote on?
6. Everyone had 1 vote each and these helped to decide
the actions that you took in your classroom.
Democracy is important because it helps to make
sure as many people as possible are happy with a
decision
Value 1: Democracy
7. In the UK, we have lots of laws to keep us safe!
Rule of Law means that no matter who you are, while
you are in Britain, you are protected by our laws!
Value 2: Rule of Law
8. Take a look below: Can you decide which items are
British Laws and which are not?
Value 2: Rule of Law
You can say you don’t
like the government
You will always have
access to the police
Your house must
have water
You can choose
your religion
You must dress like
everyone else
You can only eat ice
cream on Tuesdays
9. Only one was incorrect! Everything else has a rule in
law to make sure you can:
Value 2: Rule of Law
say you don’t like the
government
always have access to
the police
have water in
your house
choose your
religion
Even though these rules seem
normal to us, many countries
don’t have them. That is why we
are proud of our values, they give
us freedom and protection.
10. Question time!
- Can you name all of the religions from the picture?
- Are you allowed to be part of these religions?
- What about if you don’t have a religion, is that allowed?
- Can you change from one religion to another?
Value 3: Tolerance of all faiths and none
11. These are also examples of British Values.
We are lucky that in Britain anyone can choose to be
part of a religion, not have a religion or change
religion.
Not all countries allow for this to happen so we are
lucky that we can all be free to live in a way we want
Value 3: Tolerance of all faiths and none
Stretch: Do you have any questions so far?
12. Mutual respect means we might not always agree with
someone but we respect their opinion provided they aren’t
breaking the law
Value 4: Mutual Respect
I believe that the Big
Bang made the world
I believe God made the
world
True or False
The boys can ask why the other thinks this
The boys can force each other to change their beliefs
The boys can talk in public about what they believe
13. You can be free to express yourself and enjoy every part of
your identity!
Value 5: Individual Liberty
How are these people expressing their identity?
Think of 3 ways that you express your identity
14. I can…

freedoms! We are very lucky! Why
