Mormon Rocks were formed by water carrying sediments along the San Andreas Fault. Their shape is a result of wind and precipitation acting on the uplifted sandstone formations. Cinder Hill is a cinder cone volcano made of basalt in the Coso Volcanic Field. Fossil Falls was formed by volcanic activity and melted water from glaciers creating a river that smoothed and rounded the basalt rocks. Native Americans who lived in the area created petroglyphs and house rings from local obsidian and basalt.

Valleys are low-lying areas of land located between two hills or mountains. They are formed by running water from streams eroding the land over many years. Valleys have the key characteristics of being low-lying lands and being shaped between surrounding upland areas. The layers in the rocks show past rainfall amounts, with larger rock pieces indicating more rain. The San Andreas Rift Zone near Cajon Pass was created by an ancient stream bed during an 1857 earthquake. Fossil Falls was formed by water from melted glaciers that created lakes, including Owens Lake, and volcanic activity in nearby mountain ranges. Manzanar was one of the camps that incarcerated over 110,000 Japanese Americans during World War 2, located between Lone Pine and Independence in Owens Valley.

Before, the Redwood National Forest was green and healthy with undisturbed trees. The Polar Ice Caps had large chunks of ice that rarely melted. Canaan Lake was a place where people could swim and skate.
After, changes from global warming caused increases in temperature that impacted plants, trees, and animals in the Redwood Forest. The Polar Ice Caps lost much of their ice, melting faster and causing sea levels to rise. Canaan Lake is now almost a swamp, too warm for swimming or skating, overgrown with weeds and pollution where only ducks and swans live. Global warming negatively changed these three environments.
Restoring the West Shore of Green Bay
Restoration experts from Ducks Unlimited, The Nature Conservancy, and the Lower Fox River/Green Bay Areas of Concern will discuss case studies of partnerships turning federal GLRI funding into successful on-the-ground habitat restoration projects that provide a variety of ecological and societal benefits that can be sustained well into the future. Featured case studies include successfully restoring coastal marsh for waterbirds and for northern pike, using watershed-based GIS planning tools to prioritize restoration projects, and the reestablishment of the Cat Island Chain of islands in lower Green Bay. This presentation was given by Janet Smith, Chair of the Biota and Habitat Work Group of the Science and Technical Advisory Committee for the Lower Fox River/Green Bay Area of Concern, Retired U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Coral reefs have built up over millions of years in the warm waters around the islands, creating habitat for tropical fish. In 1991, a typhoon caused a flash flood in Ormoc City on Leyte island, killing over 8,000 people as water and mud streams destroyed the city.

In the 1960s, park rangers in Whiskeytown National Recreation Area discovered a large 400-foot waterfall deep in the wilderness while scouting the area. In order to keep the land purchase price low, they did not inform the landowner of the discovery. After staff changes, knowledge of the waterfall was lost for over 30 years until 2005 when a park ranger rediscovered it using old maps and aerial photographs.

The San Andreas Fault is a transform fault that runs approximately 810 miles through California, forming the boundary between the Pacific and North American tectonic plates. Pictures showed mechanical weathering of sedimentary rocks along I-5 and root wedging splitting granite rocks in Yosemite National Park. Additional photos depicted mass wasting of rocks in Death Valley. Other images illustrated continental sedimentary environments along a stream in Three Rivers and marine/transitional environments at Pismo Beach. The Golden Gate Bridge was discussed as an example of applying geology in an engineering project.

Mono lake
American settlers began moving to the Mono Basin in 1852. In 1941, the LA aqueduct diverted four creeks that fed Mono Lake, causing the lake levels to drop over 45 feet and salinity to double by 1982. This damaged vegetation and fisheries and exposed lake bed that caused toxic dust storms. Following litigation, courts and the State Water Resources Board ordered restoration efforts like reinstating stream flows to rebuild the ecosystem, though Mono Lake will remain lower than original levels.

Early Life in Salt Lake Valley
Upon arriving in the Salt Lake Valley, Brigham Young declared "This is the place!" after his sick wagon. The Mormon pioneers worked to farm the land but one year crickets threatened their harvest until seagulls, summoned by prayer, ate the crickets and saved the crops. The pioneers also discovered a hot spring that provided healing properties to those who bathed there. Brigham Young led the pioneers with a stern hand and gave chats to encourage improvement.
History of Tower Butte
Tower Butte is a solitary butte formation located near Lake Powell in Arizona that offers stunning 360-degree views of the surrounding landscape. It formed over millions of years as erosion gradually wore away surrounding plateaus, leaving the butte's hard caprock layers resistant to weathering. Tower Butte can only be accessed by helicopter due to its location on Navajo land and requires a special permit to visit. It has become a popular tourist destination managed by the Navajo Parks and Recreation Department in collaboration with helicopter tour companies.

Tod fod jod @ vidya school
The Tod Fod Jod (TFJ) initiative at VIDYA School aimed to foster creativity and learning in students. Over 100 students from classes 5-9 participated in exploring how to deconstruct simple electrical devices. While about half were able to take apart the devices, a few explained how they worked or put them back together. The initiative faced challenges in resources but benefited from the passion of teachers and students. Going forward, the school plans to increase parental involvement, student visits to repair shops, corporate support for more sessions, and forming a TFJ club to further engage high-aptitude students.

The Currituck Sound is a shallow estuary located in northeastern North Carolina. It provides important habitat for numerous plant and animal species. However, the Sound faces threats such as excessive nutrients, toxic materials, erosion, sedimentation, and habitat loss due to human activities. Conservation efforts aim to protect this fragile ecosystem and promote sustainable use of its resources.
Mono lake
American settlers began moving to the Mono Basin in 1852. In 1941, the LA aqueduct diverted four creeks that fed Mono Lake, causing the lake levels to drop over 45 feet and salinity to double by 1982. This damaged vegetation and fisheries and exposed lake bed that caused toxic dust storms. Following litigation, courts and the State Water Resources Board ordered restoration efforts like reinstating stream flows to rebuild the ecosystem, though Mono Lake will remain lower than original levels.

History of Tower Butte
Tower Butte is a solitary butte formation located near Lake Powell in Arizona that offers stunning 360-degree views of the surrounding landscape. It formed over millions of years as erosion gradually wore away surrounding plateaus, leaving the butte's hard caprock layers resistant to weathering. Tower Butte can only be accessed by helicopter due to its location on Navajo land and requires a special permit to visit. It has become a popular tourist destination managed by the Navajo Parks and Recreation Department in collaboration with helicopter tour companies.

Over 100 students from classes 5-9 participated in exploring how to deconstruct simple electrical devices. While about half were able to take apart the devices, a few explained how they worked or put them back together. The initiative faced challenges in resources but benefited from the passion of teachers and students. Going forward, the school plans to increase parental involvement, student visits to repair shops, corporate support for more sessions, and forming a TFJ club to further engage high-aptitude students.

Artificial Intelligence for XMLDevelopment
In the rapidly evolving landscape of technologies, XML continues to play a vital role in structuring, storing, and transporting data across diverse systems. The recent advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) present new methodologies for enhancing XML development workflows, introducing efficiency, automation, and intelligent capabilities. This presentation will outline the scope and perspective of utilizing AI in XML development. The potential benefits and the possible pitfalls will be highlighted, providing a balanced view of the subject.
We will explore the capabilities of AI in understanding XML markup languages and autonomously creating structured XML content. Additionally, we will examine the capacity of AI to enrich plain text with appropriate XML markup. Practical examples and methodological guidelines will be provided to elucidate how AI can be effectively prompted to interpret and generate accurate XML markup.
Further emphasis will be placed on the role of AI in developing XSLT, or schemas such as XSD and Schematron. We will address the techniques and strategies adopted to create prompts for generating code, explaining code, or refactoring the code, and the results achieved.
The discussion will extend to how AI can be used to transform XML content. In particular, the focus will be on the use of AI XPath extension functions in XSLT, Schematron, Schematron Quick Fixes, or for XML content refactoring.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software Fuzzing
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.

- 9. PETROGLYPHS ARE PICTOGRAM IMAGES CARVED ON ROCKS BY THE PREHISTORIC NATIVE AMERICANS LIVING IN THE COSO DESERT REGION.
- 10. DUE TO THE FACT THAT NATIVE AMERICANS MIGRATED SEASONALLY, THEY WOULD BUILD THESE RINGS TO BE USED AS LIVING AREAS, AS WELL AS REMINDER OF WHERE THEY STAYED AT WHEN THEY RETURNED.
