Parody Into Classical Music
Most "normal people" believe that classical music is in the genre of the boring and unexciting. Yet,
when you bring sports into the equation, it attracts more people's attention and a wider variety of
audiences. Thus classical music becomes lively and sporty. I am not familiar with this certain music,
but I would like to learn more about it. Combining Beethoven and his music with an athletic event
makes me more curious to learn about this genre of music. My thoughts on including this kind of
parody into classical music can attract a wider variety of audiences. In today's culture, classical
music is not as prevalent in the world like sports. Bringing these two things together makes this
genre more noticeable to the people that are not involved.

his own time and sell a work when he needed or wanted money. Beethoven had the honor of having
an extensive influence. He earned his title as one of the greatest composers of his time because of
his ability to bridge the classic era of music to the romantic era of music. At the start of his musical

The music of Mozart has been long praised. His classical sonatas and concertos continue to be
recognized as some of the greatest works of music of all time. Since Mozart's death, many have
argued over the relationship between listening to Mozart and intelligence, with many arguing that
classical music makes you smarter. Although many myths surrounding the topics of Mozart and
intelligence exist, in this paper, I will be addressing the myth in the context that solely listening to
the music of Mozart will improve cognitive performance before academic functions such as tests. In
order to understand, one must understand the history of the myth. The term "Mozart Effect" is
commonly used to discuss the general correlation between Mozart and increased intelligence.
However, this term is applicable to many different tests and relationships. For example, the Mozart
Effect can be used to describe the relationship between listening to Mozart while in the womb and
increased intelligence. While this is a common myth, it is not the myth discussed in this paper. I will
be addressing the "Mozart Effect" based on Dr. Gordon Shaw's theory of the Mozart Effect, which
states "listening to classical music makes you smarter." After conducting a study in which college
students took an IQ test before and after listening to Mozart's famed "Sonata for Two Pianos in D

Introduction
The Mozart–Effect is the concept that listening to classical music at an early age helps make
children smarter. It has long been held that learning a musical instrument also helps develop the
brain differently, and can improve math ability specifically. Over the past two decades people have
wondered whether or not the Mozart–effect really works. Will listening to classical music or
learning how to play an instrument increase a person's intelligence? If so, how does it affect a
person's intelligence? Dean Keith Simonton presented a chart in "The Science of Genius," both
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Ludwig van Beethoven were considered geniuses and they are both
composers of classical music. This article made me think what if listening to classical music affects
a person's intelligence, or could learning to play an instrument help a person's intelligence? Also,
what led me to this area of investigation was that my dad always played classical music for me since
I was born, and when I had to take an IQ test I scored a 132, so I wanted to know if listening to

A Fan Of Classical Music Essay
As a fan of classical music, I decided to attend the Mutter Bronfman Harrell Trio. Which consists of
Anne–Sophie Mutter on Violin, Yefim Bronfman on Piano, and Lynn Harrell on Cello. Their
powerful bond within the music, grasped my attention. I have heard many single instruments, but
never the violin, piano, and cello all in one. It was defiantly a new and exciting experience, which I
would like to be part of again.
The group name is The Mutter Bronfman Harrell Trio, which like I mention before consists of Ms.
Mutter, Mr. Bronfman, and Mr. Harrell. The venue was located in the city of Northridge, 18111
Nordhoff St, Northridge, CA 91330, on the campus of California State University Northridge
(CSUN) in the Valley Performing Arts Center. The performance was held on the 16th of April, 2015
at 7:30 p.m. The performances was based on two trios. One in B–flat major, Op. 97 ("Archduke") by
Ludwig Van Beethoven, and A minor, Op. 50 ("In Memory of a Great Artist") by Piotr Ilyich
Tchaikovsky.
Lynn Harrell, is a well–known Cello player who has toured in many places like Australia, New
Zealand, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and many more places around the United
States (U.S.). Anne–Sophie Mutter, who is known for being one of the greatest violinists for over 35
years, has won four–time Grammy Awards with Deutsche Grammophon, for their outstanding
collaboration. Yefim Bronfman, Piano, has also been nominated for a Grammy Award for his
Deutsche Grammophon recording in 2009.

Of course this is open to discussion being opinion based, it just was it own time period. Much like
any of 21st centuries music genres they have had their own time periods. With each time periods
comes and unique styling and sound that most artist within that niche seem to follow. Until you have

Each culture has its own customs and patterns, but I don't think that there is one that should be
considered "normative" over others. I grew up in a Vietnamese household, so some of my family's
customs are different from the average American family's customs. I consider both cultures to be a
part of my life, but neither takes precedence over the other.
The four basic components of music are timbre, pitch, rhythm and dynamics. Out of the four, timbre
is most helpful in identifying world music tradition. Each culture has unique media in its music, and
the characteristic timbre of each medium allows us to identify the media used.
Examples of aerophones include the saxophone, which is a reed instrument, the European flute, a
type of flute, and the brass trumpet, a type of trumpet.
The two basic types of chordophones are lutes and zithers. An example of a lute is a guitar, and
examples of zithers are the piano and the Japanese koto.
Idiophones are instruments that produce sound when they are plucked, struck, or shaken. Examples
of idiophones include lamellophones (plucked), gongs (struck) and rattles (shaken).
Membranophones are categorized by their shape, and examples are Goblet drums, kazoos, and the

A pitch is the frequency level of a tone, while a tuning system is a set of commonly used pitches in a

Attire
In all three performances, the band consisted of professional musicians who definitely played and
sounded like professionals. Their attire of the musician in each piece could be described as formal.
In the first video of Beethoven Overture to Egmont, they seemed to be a little classier when it comes
to their attire. The men wore very nice tuxedos and the women had on black dresses. In the second
piece, the Creatures of the Prometheus their dress attire was not as formal. The observation was
made due to some of the women wearing black dress shirts and dark jeans and the men wearing suits
with no bowtie or tie and no white shirts. In the last video Ludwig van Beethoven's 9th their attire
was formal. They matched the attire of the first performance. The men had on nice tuxedos and the
women had on elegant black dresses.
Egmont Overture
The era that the Beethoven Overture to Egmont piece originates is from the heroic period. The
heroic period is considered to be the middle period, as it was the bridge from the classical era to
romanticism. My review of this concert is positive and I would recommend that anyone watch it.

Hindustani Classical Music is a form of Hindu classical music that is believed to have originated
before the 13th century (CFCRAT). Before the 13th century, the Hindu Culture had not split their

Hindustani music is made up of ragas, which are a form of Hindu music that has melodic form, and

Most everyone will agree that music is enjoyed by everyone. However, not everyone likes the same
types of music. The good thing is, music has the ability to provide a vast variety of sounds that
everyone can appreciate in some form or fashion. I attended the Festival Fanfare Classical Music
Concert on June 14, 2016, in Hattiesburg, MS. This was the first time that I ever attended a classical

Because of Introduction to Music, my perception of classical art music has changed and more
importantly, the course has impacted how I approach music in general. Before the class, I would
have described art music as boring and dingy; however, after learning a plethora of musical
elements, and after thoroughly studying the context of each piece, my interest for the genre grew
along with my appreciation for it. To the average listener, Johann Bach's Cantata No. 140, Wachet
auf, I, sounds like atypical church music, presumably from Europe. It is not until one establishes a
basic foundation, until one knows the fundamental elements of classical art music, that an
appreciation can be developed. Without the first twelve chapters of The Enjoyment of Music, I
would not have been able to understand the meaning behind the polyphonic texture and dotted
rhythms; furthermore, I would not be able to understand the difference–nonetheless, the meaning–
between the ritornello and the counterpoint, and the indirect ideas and concepts conveyed through
them.

Quartet and Quintet performance was the first of Biola University's classical music concert series in
Fall 2017. For two hours classical music lovers crowded into the Crowell Music Building
Auditorium of Biola University Conservatory of Music to listen to great concert music from
Professor Li–shan Hung (piano) and her guest performers Mary Irwin (violin), Lisa Boyko (viola),
Alan Harrell (cello), and Elizabeth Ann Larson (violin). The concert began at 7:30 pm with
Johannes Brahms' Piano Quartet Number 2 in A Major, Op. 26 consisting of four parts–Allegro non
troppo, Poco Adagio, Scherzo:Poco Allegro, and Finale:Allegro with Professor Li–shan Hung
(piano), Mary Irwin (violin), Lisa Boyko (viola), and Alan Harrell (cello) and lasted for fifty–five
minutes. I noticed Professor Li–shan Hung stood out during the performance because she was in
control of the whole time and because she was also the lead performer. It was difficult for Professor
Li–shan Hung to turn the music pages so there was a helper on her left side to turn the music pages

listening to classical music, the concept is quite simple actually, you first must press play on

What people come up with when they hear the words "classical music" is a big concert hall, while
what people come up with is a small bar or something when they hear "jazz". It seems they are
different as they are named differently, but are they really different? Also, given that the mainstream
in the music industry is popular music, both classical music and jazz are not appreciated by many
people, but how have these two music survived up until today?
Firstly, it is necessary to look back into their histories in order to understand how they have
developed. Classical music dates back more than one thousand years ago, which is called Medieval
era and was succeeded by Renaissance era. And then when it entered Baroque era, where the father
of music Johann Sebastian Bach thrived, there were the forms of classical music that are similar to
something which is often heard today. However, in these old eras, classical music was a liturgical
music. It was played mostly in a church. Also, it was favored by royals or aristocrats. Even Bach
was hired by some aristocrats and composed great works for them. When it reached the eighteenth
century, although classical music was still ecclesiastical music, classical music became popularized
due to concerts and recitals. And then it entered Impressionist era, suggestion and atmosphere came

The feeling of sitting down in a dark movie theater with a bucket of buttered popcorn and your
favorite drink is a common experience for most Americans. The lights dim down and the theater is
filled with music; whether it's intense battle music, sweet soft ballets, or a somber melody, the music
sets the mood. What most people don't know is that just over four percent of the musicians in
American orchestras are of black or Latino decent, a statistic that hasn't gone through much change
in the last decade. This leads us to wonder why classical music is so racist. The four main issues
with racism in the classical music industry today are the low percent of minority's in the United
States and Britain, the lack of classical music opportunities in inner city schools, low advertisement
of classical music to minority's, and an unjust audition and commissioning process. In the United
States, there are 117 symphony orchestras, and only four percent of those orchestras are made up of
black or Latino musicians(WQXR). The first issue of racism in classical music are the remarkably
low percentages of minorities in classical music and the uncomfort that minorities face in classical
music culture. This percentage isn't just low in the US, in Britain only five percent of minorities

Yet, when you bring sports into the equation, it attracts more people's attention and a wider variety of audiences. Thus classical music becomes lively and sporty. The concert began at 7:30 pm with Johannes Brahms' Piano Quartet Number 2 in A Major, Op. 26 consisting of four parts–Allegro non troppo, Poco Adagio, Scherzo:Poco Allegro, and Finale:Allegro with Professor Li–shan Hung (piano), Mary Irwin (violin), Lisa Boyko (viola), and Alan Harrell (cello) and lasted for fifty–five minutes.
