Music Appreciation Course Analysis
Unfortunately, I personally think that some of the course is not necessary for some majors. For my own experience, I have to take Music
Appreciation for Art and I learned nothing from that class. There are some advisors just did not care what could you learn from that class will
help for your major or not. They provided you a list of course that you can get an easy A or maybe they needed you to take the class just to fill it up.
So, after talking to my advisor, I took Music Appreciation. In that class, I learned so many things about music history, types of music and so much
more. However, none of that information is helpful for my career. I believe engineer will never be asked for music knowledge, especially its history
from decade ago. And

The age of Romanticism was from 1820 to 1910. During the long and glorious Age of Romanticism, artists of this time would approach their
paintings, literature as well as their music with deep passion. The passion was so great, it was the same type of feelings that religious, social, and
political partisans applied to their individual causes (Ferris & Worster, 2014, p. 175). "As newly restored kings and prelates repressed freedom of
expression in politics and the arts, artists and intellectuals increasingly sought one another's company, sharing among themselves the revolutionary
sentiments they dared not express in public" (Ferris & Worster,...show more content...
74 opens beautifully with just the piano playing. The singer soon chimes in and essentially overtakes the song, forcing the piano to take a back seat
throughout most of the performance. The song is Polish, and it actually reminds me of music that gets played in the back ground of World War II
movies,.
Chopin is known for writing his songs casually, same as his piano works were. He would write them in the event he came across a poem which
described his mood and feeling at any given moment in time. Chopin often wrote to satisfy the social needs of a friendship, and some songs were
even considered an intimate diary of some sort. More than most composers, his songs and music betray his dynamic states of mind as well as his
personal and historical contexts (hyperion–records.co.uk/dc.asp).
`His music has been described as 'the epitome of the very soul of the piano', 'the piano brought to life', 'winged keys'. Indeed, FrГ©dГ©ric Chopin is
usually associated with his piano ballades and nocturnes, mazurkas and polonaises, Г©tudes and preludes, sonatas and scherzos. And yet, alongside that
great road, there was a small path, modest but noteworthy: his songs both great and small

Essay: Music Appreciation
The Musical Composition that has changed my life to how I see music is the song The Stroke from Billy Squier. I did not really know the meaning
of the song, but it really Widened my Horizon in terms of music from only before listening to The Beatles, The Beach Boys, and The Monkeys. Then
later being able to listen to Rush, AC/DC, Aerosmith And Other Really good rock bands that I still love today. Then I started collecting Records then I
started collecting CDs, the first album I bought for myself is the majestic Black Sabbath Album "Paranoid" The album with the musical compositions
Paranoid, Iron Man, War Pigs/Luke's Wall, Planet Caravan, Rat Salad, Electric Funeral, And Fairies Wear Boots. This album was such an amazing

Listening to all these music has introduced me to Playing guitar, Bass, listening for the melody, Taking a close observation of songs that interest me,
look for interesting techniques, and listen for the complexity of the musical composition. My Introduction to rock music was actually the Beatles, but
they really kept me in a little box when it came to what I wanted to hear besides the pop songs that I used to listen to as a child, who was mostly
only exposed to rap and Hip Hop until the age of 8. Though the Beatles were really my first introduction to rock music, Billy Squier was the one that
really gave me chance to break out of the little bubble I was in and explore more genres which I now have grown to love which are Rock, Metal, Blues,
Alternative, Indie, Punk, Folk, Jazz, And If Played by the Fantastic Johnny Cash, Country. I have grown different views Than I had previously before

Reflective Essay About Music
So, the Element of culture that I find myself the most passionate about is Music. I say music because music I found in every culture. Music is
what I believe in being part of human. There are literally hundreds different types of genres of music people listen to and millions of songs to
listen to. A little about me, I personally find myself listen to rap music and old Rhythm and Blues. I come for a strong African American
background family, where we have family get together, cookouts and just being close to your family. Most of the R&B songs tell a story. They talk
about the black culture in good and also in bad ways. The R&B music I find myself listen to is more from my parent's time. The music back during
my parent's child hood is a lot different than music today. One Major different is music back then had people playing the real instruments and sounds.
I hear lectures from people from my parents' generation how music today is terrible compared to their upcoming music. I personally feel music just
changes because it adapts to people's lifestyle and what they are going through. The Music Industry have always been dominant in society. If you think
about every generation can remember listen to their favorite song growing up, and music can sometimes tell you all about yourself. Music can also be
influenced in politically also. For example, the government regulated explicated music because they use profanity words etc. I remember I watch a
documentary on how the government

Classical Music Appreciation Essay
One thing I'm grateful for in my life is growing up with a background in classical music appreciation. I remember my parents had a record of
Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf at home, and I would listen to it all the time. The depth of the music was fascinating to my little brain, especially
compared to the childish Disney songs and bubblegum–pop hits of the 90's that I'd otherwise hear on the radio. But the reason why this work helped
me with understanding music was that it was specifically aimed at kids in order to teach them how to pick out leitmotifs, or unique, repeated phrases in
the songs. Leitmotifs are often used in classical works to tell a story, and certain instruments or melodies can represent people, emotions, events, and

However, as the game continues, instead of making him less intimidating, his nuttiness makes him even scarier as his behavior becomes even more
erratic and malevolent. This is all compounded in the World of Ruin where he spends his time using his ultimate power to pick off the lonely
survivors for no other reason than he likes killing them. Some people argue that the best villains are ones that have sympathetic backstories, tragic
heroes that made a mistake and fell from grace. Kefka is not sympathetic. He is not a tragic hero. He doesn't care for any notion of honor, loyalty, or
goodness. He's a villain because it's fun, and this movement takes a sharp turn into a sinister, disjointedly dissonant tune to signify the further descent
into madness that ultimate power has brought

I grab the white headphones and put the EarPods into my ears. Then, I go through a variety of songs until my thumb lingers over the song "You
Know Me" by a band named Thunder Dreamer. Quickly, I click play and the world around me stops as the music enters my ears. The soft guitar
strums put an end to my over thinking and suppresses my feelings of sadness. By the time the vocals appear in the song, I can only think about music
and how happy I am in this moment. By this I mean that hearing music is the equivalent of being at peace. To be more specific, music puts me in every
place I've ever felt happiness, tastes as sweet as it sounds and relaxes my overwhelming thoughts.
With this said, I am on top of the world when I have the headphones in my ears. I feel as though I can do anything when I am blasting a song by
Cage the Elephant on my speaker. Whether I am listening through my headphones or on a speaker, the volume is always the highest it can be. This
way, the music penetrates through the walls and through every layer of skin on my body. I know this high level of noise is not good for me, but
the music is. Uniquely, music places me back into every dream I've ever forgotten. I am suddenly placed into the dream where I'm a kid and I am
laughing as my friends try to catch me in a game of tag. In a matter of three beats, I am a child again and I can only thank music for this. Moreover,
when I hear Frank Sinatra's voice playing from my "Classics" playlist, I am put back into the

Beethoven– Fur Elise
Biography:
Dear My beloved, I, Ludwig van Beethoven want to thank you for being a part of my life. Thank you for watching me grow musically and
personally. My life has been fun of musical highs and success and I appreciate you for allowing me to be me. I was born on or about December 16,
1770 in the city of Bonn in the Electorate of Cologne, a principality of the Holy Roman Empire. Although the exact date of birth is uncertain, I was
baptized on December 17, 1770. I had two younger brothers Caspar, born in 1774, and Johann, born in 1776. My mother, Maria Magdalena van
Beethoven, was slender, genteel, and deeply moralistic woman. My father, Johann van Beethoven, was a mediocre court singer was an alcoholic with
not much music success or ability. However, my grandfather, godfather and namesake, KapellmeisterLudwig van Beethoven, was Bonn's most
prosperous and eminent musician, a source of endless pride for me. My father began teaching me music with an extraordinary rigor and brutality
that affected me for the rest of his life. Neighbors witness me as a small boy weeping while I played the clavier, standing on top of a footstool to reach
the keys. My father beat me for each hesitation or mistake I made. He hoped that I would be recognized as a musical prodigy Г la Mozart. My father
arranged my first public recital for March 26, 1778. I played my best and was most impressive, but

Music : My Perception Of Music
Music: My perception
It was my first orchestra concert. Tons of questions are going on in my mind as I am completely nervous. At the signal of the music teacher, I start
moving the bow on the strings of my cello. A beautiful sound flows in the hall and soon, we all were in sync. The concert ended with applause and
standing ovations. I was happy with the success but still tons of questions in my mind, though a very different set this time.
My left and right brain started quarrelling to find the rationality behind the art of music and to find the mathematical reasoning behind the sounds
produced by musical instruments.
I continued with orchestra as music is big part of my life, and I jumped on the opportunity of exploring the relationship between math and music, to put
silence to the long lasting questions.
Music is any sound that is produced on purpose to form beauty or harmony. It is used to express emotion. Music comes from many things, like voice
and instruments or a combination of both. Each instrument plays different sounds and pitches. Depending on the wave lengths that the instruments
produce, different sounds will be heard. Pitch is a perceptual property that allows the ordering of sounds on a frequency–related scale. Pitches are
compared as "higher" and "lower" in the sense associated with musical melodies.
Depending on the location of a person in a hall or room, they hear different frequencies and sounds. The wavelengths bounce off from various things,

I find myself in a constant state of appreciation. I worship hot coffee every morning and recently, every night. I keep in touch with my small group of
friends hourly through texting or Skype, usually, and always make time to see them on the weekends. I remind myself to thank my parents for
everything they've done for me, never taking my life or experiences for granted. I am madly in love with music as a result of playing guitar for almost
seven years. My love doesn't lie with a specific genre or style, although I am very partial to progressive rock (Genesis, Van Der Graaf Generator, Yes). I
crave a good melody. If a song has a melody that pulls me into a different reality, I immediately add it to my ever–growing Spotify playlist and enjoy

The piano is one of my favorite musical instruments. It is a great instrument because of how easy it is to pick up on it. Unlike other instruments
like the violin and guitar, you always know what you are going to get when you attempt to play a note. It also sounds amazing and it is very
relaxing to the ear. Pianos are played in many styles but the two most popular styles would probably be classical and jazz. Jazz styled music is most
focused on improvisation while classically styled music requires you to master many skills from the keyboard. Classical is known to be the hardest
style to learn. I tried to play a few classical pieces on my piano but each hand is playing completely different notes at different times and it's hard
because the notes are played so fast. If you accidentally play a wrong note, it doesn't sound right. My favorite genres of the piano are classical and
light jazz. There are many singer–songwriters who play piano that inspire me to play. The sound of the piano is very unique and I like how you can
combine many keys to make cool melodies. The piano has evolved over the years from the harpsichord to the grand piano to digital keyboards. In 1700,
the piano was born thanks to Bartolomeo di Francesco Cristofori. The piano is a fascinating instrument that has changed over time and continues to be
an important instrument in the music industry.
The first piano was created by, Bartolomeo di Francesco Cristofori. There isn't any detail about

Second Concert Review
A Night of "Guitars" Not like a first concert I attended, this show named "a night of Blues" had a little bit small and less impressive. It was not
because the show was boring, but just a few people joined this show, the theater is also smaller, too. It was a Tuesday evening of April 12, me and
my sister knew that there also had another concert held on the VPA, but still decided to go to this concert because we all love guitar. We headed to
school at 6: 45 pm, took the seats opposite to the theater and looked around. There was two kids coming with his father, they looked so happy.
After a while, there was some of their friends joined. We bought a coke and some snack before go inside. Like the first one, we found our seats
perfectly in the middle of the theater. The concert began at 7:06 pm instead of 7:00 pm as it was supposed to be opened. I guess because just only five
people (also five members of a music group) prepared for this show so they did not manage their time well. Anyway, the concert began...show more

Actually, this song was not bad, I just do not like this kind of music, rock music made me dizzy. The next song also brought a rock style, "Whiskey

next piece, arranged by an old man. The time and space seemed to be back in early 1970s. This song was still perfect for all those "holier than thou"
types. Although the meaning of this piece contain a little sadness, I still felt joyful because of its style. The whole room was soundless except the
singer voice. Now I hear this song again and realize that this song was also an amazing pieces with smooth, soft rhythm and consonant harmony.
Especially, the melody of the guitar was so

Claude Debussy: Music Appreciation
Claude Debussy's gift in playing the piano and producing opera has touched not just composers, but music lovers around the world. Without the music
of Debussy, so many influential artists would lack knowledge in classical music. His piece, "Clair de lune", (defined as moonlight) is considered one
of his more favored musical compositions. The Oxford Dictionary of Music states that this is the, "third movement of Debussy's Suite bergamasque".
The compositions importance music wise has to do with more than just those who enjoy the classical genre; Thousands of responses from everyday
people on youtube prove this. Individuals have shown their love for this song by commenting things such as, "I'm not a fan of classical music, but I
love this". Another

McPartland was born in 1918 in England. She showed musical talent when she was young, because of this McPartland began to take violin
lessons; she also studied the piano on her own. McPartland went to the London's Guildhall school of music to train classically. Once she
graduated, she went on to have an international career as a jazz pianist and as a composer. Later in her life, McPartland began a record company
which was named Halcyon Records. To write Twilight World, McPartland partnered with Jonny Mercer, which became a hit. She died when she
was 95 in 2013. I personally enjoyed Twilight World. Margaret Bonds, who was trained in piano classically and was a composer, composed
Troubled Water. Bonds was born in 1913 in Chicago and she studied at two colleges, Northwestern University and Juilliard, after which she moved to
Los Angeles during the 60s. Shortly after she moved, Bonds began to work as the music director at the Inner City Repertory Theatre. All the while she
kept up her solo and duo–pianist career. Bonds piece, Troubled Water, was based upon the spiritual 'Wade in the Water.' I like Troubled

This was the day I had been dreading. I was participating in the Seattle Young Artists Music Festival, an event where students share their music with a
small class and receive a lesson from the teacher. My violin teacher and my parents decided that this event would develop my musical skills, so they
registered me with enthusiasm. I, on the other hand, was not so enthusiastic. I had never honestly enjoyed performing in the past and I was especially
nervous about this event knowing that I would receive a music lesson from an expert violinist after my performance. It did not help to hear stories of
strict, criticizing, and rude teachers from my siblings who had previously done this event either. I wondered how any good could come from this
event. Though only flippantly, I even considered what would happen if I pretended to be ill or purposely injured my finger. However, before I knew it,
the dreadful day arrived and I realized I would just have to go for it.
I woke up before the sun and groggily prepared to leave. My Mom and my two siblings, Amy and Aaron, got ready to leave too since Aaron was also
performing and Mom and Amy would be accompanying both of us on the piano. While it was still dark, we boarded a ferry headed for Seattle as I

improve my technique. Surprisingly, the lesson seemed to pass quickly and when it had ended, I received a sheet of paper with my teacher's written

relief, I went back to my seat. That was not as bad as I expected, I thought to

My Favorite Music Essay
Teenage years are the times for new experiences and music was no different as the experience marked with great memories of music that is very
nostalgic and can be attached to moments good or bad that make us reminisce when we hear the music of our child hood. I am Mexican and my
teenage years I spent in Mexico until I was sixteen when my family migrated to the united states however I didn't really understood English I can
honestly say that I like Rock En Espanol and would not hesitate to say that it is my favorite genre of music when I was a teenager, I will try my
best to share my favorite music as I reminisce on some great music in my past. As a teenager growing up in Mexico I wasn't really interested in
listening to music, as my interest were sports and television. The musical influences that I can recall in my early childhood, were those of my
parents. Who would listen to Corridos and Rancheras, which were a type of folk Mexican revolutionary music, they would sing about the
struggles in life during the Mexican civil war. As I grew up the type of music my friends listen to were Cumbias Colombianas and Rock En Espanol
those were my early memories of music which I still listen and enjoy today. I would listen to Rock En Espanol artist like CafГ© Tacuba, Caifanes,
Mana, Maldita Vecindad, Enanitos Verdes, and Fabulosos Cadillacs. I began listening more to the lyrics and the sound of the music for example,
Maldita Vecindad has a Rock sound that evolved into a Ska sound.

Instead of attending a concert and writing a concert report, I decided to do the radio report. On April 24, 2007, I listened to the station WWOZ

Fest is approaching, they decided to feature some of the artists that would be performing. In which they varied from Percy Sledge to the Fister

The next song was Golden Eagles' Indian Red. It began with an Indian chant with other Indians pledging in the background. They were saying how
they were the Indians of the Nation. It had a live feeling to it because you could hear the tambourines, Indian drums, and the Indians yelling in the
background. Charlie Miller's Piano Night 2003 featured only a piano and a saxophone. It was very boring and off tempo to me. It didn't have a melody
or much of a beat that you could follow. It was just thrown together. Check Mr. Popeye by Eddie Bo was very outdoorsy to me. It had a livemusic fest
type mood to me. The man was singing about meeting up with Popeye and telling him to check his spinach. The song didn't make much sense to
me, but I enjoyed it. I liked Sea Cruise by Johnny Rivers a lot. The man was singing/begging to take a girl on a sea cruise. It reminded me of the
movie Cry Baby a little, which is one of my favorites. I enjoyed doing the radio report, but I'd rather do a concert report. It was difficult trying to
keep up with the names of the songs when they would announce it. At a concert I would be given a program to follow. But my overall experience with it

Music Appreciation Course Analysis

  • 1. Music Appreciation Course Analysis Unfortunately, I personally think that some of the course is not necessary for some majors. For my own experience, I have to take Music Appreciation for Art and I learned nothing from that class. There are some advisors just did not care what could you learn from that class will help for your major or not. They provided you a list of course that you can get an easy A or maybe they needed you to take the class just to fill it up. So, after talking to my advisor, I took Music Appreciation. In that class, I learned so many things about music history, types of music and so much more. However, none of that information is helpful for my career. I believe engineer will never be asked for music knowledge, especially its history from decade ago. And Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Music Appreciation Essay Music Appreciation Tiffin University Jennifer Morrison August 2nd, 2015 MUS223 The age of Romanticism was from 1820 to 1910. During the long and glorious Age of Romanticism, artists of this time would approach their paintings, literature as well as their music with deep passion. The passion was so great, it was the same type of feelings that religious, social, and political partisans applied to their individual causes (Ferris & Worster, 2014, p. 175). "As newly restored kings and prelates repressed freedom of expression in politics and the arts, artists and intellectuals increasingly sought one another's company, sharing among themselves the revolutionary sentiments they dared not express in public" (Ferris & Worster,...show more content... 74 opens beautifully with just the piano playing. The singer soon chimes in and essentially overtakes the song, forcing the piano to take a back seat throughout most of the performance. The song is Polish, and it actually reminds me of music that gets played in the back ground of World War II movies,. Chopin is known for writing his songs casually, same as his piano works were. He would write them in the event he came across a poem which described his mood and feeling at any given moment in time. Chopin often wrote to satisfy the social needs of a friendship, and some songs were even considered an intimate diary of some sort. More than most composers, his songs and music betray his dynamic states of mind as well as his personal and historical contexts (hyperion–records.co.uk/dc.asp). `His music has been described as 'the epitome of the very soul of the piano', 'the piano brought to life', 'winged keys'. Indeed, FrГ©dГ©ric Chopin is usually associated with his piano ballades and nocturnes, mazurkas and polonaises, Г©tudes and preludes, sonatas and scherzos. And yet, alongside that great road, there was a small path, modest but noteworthy: his songs both great and small

I did not really know the meaning of the song, but it really Widened my Horizon in terms of music from only before listening to The Beatles, The Beach Boys, and The Monkeys. Then later being able to listen to Rush, AC/DC, Aerosmith And Other Really good rock bands that I still love today. Then I started collecting Records then I started collecting CDs, the first album I bought for myself is the majestic Black Sabbath Album "Paranoid" The album with the musical compositions Paranoid, Iron Man, War Pigs/Luke's Wall, Planet Caravan, Rat Salad, Electric Funeral, And Fairies Wear Boots. My Introduction to rock music was actually the Beatles, but they really kept me in a little box when it came to what I wanted to hear besides the pop songs that I used to listen to as a child, who was mostly only exposed to rap and Hip Hop until the age of 8. Though the Beatles were really my first introduction to rock music, Billy Squier was the one that really gave me chance to break out of the little bubble I was in and explore more genres which I now have grown to love which are Rock, Metal, Blues, Alternative, Indie, Punk, Folk, Jazz, And If Played by the Fantastic Johnny Cash, Country. • 6. Reflective Essay About Music So, the Element of culture that I find myself the most passionate about is Music. I say music because music I found in every culture. Music is what I believe in being part of human. There are literally hundreds different types of genres of music people listen to and millions of songs to listen to. A little about me, I personally find myself listen to rap music and old Rhythm and Blues. I come for a strong African American background family, where we have family get together, cookouts and just being close to your family. Most of the R&B songs tell a story. They talk about the black culture in good and also in bad ways. The R&B music I find myself listen to is more from my parent's time. The music back during my parent's child hood is a lot different than music today. One Major different is music back then had people playing the real instruments and sounds. I hear lectures from people from my parents' generation how music today is terrible compared to their upcoming music. I personally feel music just changes because it adapts to people's lifestyle and what they are going through. The Music Industry have always been dominant in society. If you think about every generation can remember listen to their favorite song growing up, and music can sometimes tell you all about yourself. Music can also be influenced in politically also. For example, the government regulated explicated music because they use profanity words etc. I remember I watch a documentary on how the government Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Classical Music Appreciation Essay One thing I'm grateful for in my life is growing up with a background in classical music appreciation. I remember my parents had a record of Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf at home, and I would listen to it all the time. The depth of the music was fascinating to my little brain, especially compared to the childish Disney songs and bubblegum–pop hits of the 90's that I'd otherwise hear on the radio. But the reason why this work helped me with understanding music was that it was specifically aimed at kids in order to teach them how to pick out leitmotifs, or unique, repeated phrases in the songs. Leitmotifs are often used in classical works to tell a story, and certain instruments or melodies can represent people, emotions, events, and other parts...show more content... This is all compounded in the World of Ruin where he spends his time using his ultimate power to pick off the lonely survivors for no other reason than he likes killing them. Some people argue that the best villains are ones that have sympathetic backstories, tragic heroes that made a mistake and fell from grace. Kefka is not sympathetic. He is not a tragic hero. He doesn't care for any notion of honor, loyalty, or goodness. He's a villain because it's fun, and this movement takes a sharp turn into a sinister, disjointedly dissonant tune to signify the further descent into madness that ultimate power has brought Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Descriptive Essay About Music I grab the white headphones and put the EarPods into my ears. Then, I go through a variety of songs until my thumb lingers over the song "You Know Me" by a band named Thunder Dreamer. Quickly, I click play and the world around me stops as the music enters my ears. The soft guitar strums put an end to my over thinking and suppresses my feelings of sadness. By the time the vocals appear in the song, I can only think about music and how happy I am in this moment. By this I mean that hearing music is the equivalent of being at peace. To be more specific, music puts me in every place I've ever felt happiness, tastes as sweet as it sounds and relaxes my overwhelming thoughts. With this said, I am on top of the world when I have the headphones in my ears. I feel as though I can do anything when I am blasting a song by Cage the Elephant on my speaker. Whether I am listening through my headphones or on a speaker, the volume is always the highest it can be. This way, the music penetrates through the walls and through every layer of skin on my body. I know this high level of noise is not good for me, but the music is. Uniquely, music places me back into every dream I've ever forgotten. I am suddenly placed into the dream where I'm a kid and I am laughing as my friends try to catch me in a game of tag. In a matter of three beats, I am a child again and I can only thank music for this. Moreover, when I hear Frank Sinatra's voice playing from my "Classics" playlist, I am put back into the Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 11. Crystal Timberlake November 13, 2017 Music Appreciation Analysis Paper Beethoven– Fur Elise Biography: Dear My beloved, I, Ludwig van Beethoven want to thank you for being a part of my life. Thank you for watching me grow musically and personally. My life has been fun of musical highs and success and I appreciate you for allowing me to be me. I was born on or about December 16, 1770 in the city of Bonn in the Electorate of Cologne, a principality of the Holy Roman Empire. Although the exact date of birth is uncertain, I was baptized on December 17, 1770. I had two younger brothers Caspar, born in 1774, and Johann, born in 1776. My mother, Maria Magdalena van Beethoven, was slender, genteel, and deeply moralistic woman. My father, Johann van Beethoven, was a mediocre court singer was an alcoholic with not much music success or ability. However, my grandfather, godfather and namesake, KapellmeisterLudwig van Beethoven, was Bonn's most prosperous and eminent musician, a source of endless pride for me. My father began teaching me music with an extraordinary rigor and brutality that affected me for the rest of his life. Neighbors witness me as a small boy weeping while I played the clavier, standing on top of a footstool to reach the keys. My father beat me for each hesitation or mistake I made. He hoped that I would be recognized as a musical prodigy Г la Mozart. My father arranged my first public recital for March 26, 1778. I played my best and was most impressive, but Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Music : My Perception Of Music Music: My perception It was my first orchestra concert. Tons of questions are going on in my mind as I am completely nervous. At the signal of the music teacher, I start moving the bow on the strings of my cello. A beautiful sound flows in the hall and soon, we all were in sync. The concert ended with applause and standing ovations. I was happy with the success but still tons of questions in my mind, though a very different set this time. My left and right brain started quarrelling to find the rationality behind the art of music and to find the mathematical reasoning behind the sounds produced by musical instruments. I continued with orchestra as music is big part of my life, and I jumped on the opportunity of exploring the relationship between math and music, to put silence to the long lasting questions. Music is any sound that is produced on purpose to form beauty or harmony. It is used to express emotion. Music comes from many things, like voice and instruments or a combination of both. Each instrument plays different sounds and pitches. Depending on the wave lengths that the instruments produce, different sounds will be heard. Pitch is a perceptual property that allows the ordering of sounds on a frequency–related scale. Pitches are compared as "higher" and "lower" in the sense associated with musical melodies. Depending on the location of a person in a hall or room, they hear different frequencies and sounds. The wavelengths bounce off from various things, altering Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Music Appreciation Essay I find myself in a constant state of appreciation. I worship hot coffee every morning and recently, every night. I keep in touch with my small group of friends hourly through texting or Skype, usually, and always make time to see them on the weekends. I remind myself to thank my parents for everything they've done for me, never taking my life or experiences for granted. I am madly in love with music as a result of playing guitar for almost seven years. My love doesn't lie with a specific genre or style, although I am very partial to progressive rock (Genesis, Van Der Graaf Generator, Yes). I crave a good melody. If a song has a melody that pulls me into a different reality, I immediately add it to my ever–growing Spotify playlist and enjoy Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Descriptive Essay On Music The piano is one of my favorite musical instruments. It is a great instrument because of how easy it is to pick up on it. Unlike other instruments like the violin and guitar, you always know what you are going to get when you attempt to play a note. It also sounds amazing and it is very relaxing to the ear. Pianos are played in many styles but the two most popular styles would probably be classical and jazz. Jazz styled music is most focused on improvisation while classically styled music requires you to master many skills from the keyboard. Classical is known to be the hardest style to learn. I tried to play a few classical pieces on my piano but each hand is playing completely different notes at different times and it's hard because the notes are played so fast. If you accidentally play a wrong note, it doesn't sound right. My favorite genres of the piano are classical and light jazz. There are many singer–songwriters who play piano that inspire me to play. The sound of the piano is very unique and I like how you can combine many keys to make cool melodies. The piano has evolved over the years from the harpsichord to the grand piano to digital keyboards. In 1700, the piano was born thanks to Bartolomeo di Francesco Cristofori. The piano is a fascinating instrument that has changed over time and continues to be an important instrument in the music industry. The first piano was created by, Bartolomeo di Francesco Cristofori. • 15. Music Appreciation: Music Concert Review Kha Tran Music Appreciation HUM 1113 Second Concert Review A Night of "Guitars" Not like a first concert I attended, this show named "a night of Blues" had a little bit small and less impressive. It was not because the show was boring, but just a few people joined this show, the theater is also smaller, too. It was a Tuesday evening of April 12, me and my sister knew that there also had another concert held on the VPA, but still decided to go to this concert because we all love guitar. We headed to school at 6: 45 pm, took the seats opposite to the theater and looked around. There was two kids coming with his father, they looked so happy. After a while, there was some of their friends joined. We bought a coke and some snack before go inside. Like the first one, we found our seats perfectly in the middle of the theater. The concert began at 7:06 pm instead of 7:00 pm as it was supposed to be opened. I guess because just only five people (also five members of a music group) prepared for this show so they did not manage their time well. Anyway, the concert began...show more content... The same girl played for this two songs. Still, very high and strong voice. "He Calls that Religion – Mississippi Sheiks" was the next piece, arranged by an old man. The time and space seemed to be back in early 1970s. This song was still perfect for all those "holier than thou" types. Although the meaning of this piece contain a little sadness, I still felt joyful because of its style. The whole room was soundless except the singer voice. Now I hear this song again and realize that this song was also an amazing pieces with smooth, soft rhythm and consonant harmony. • 16. Claude Debussy: Music Appreciation Claude Debussy's gift in playing the piano and producing opera has touched not just composers, but music lovers around the world. Without the music of Debussy, so many influential artists would lack knowledge in classical music. His piece, "Clair de lune", (defined as moonlight) is considered one of his more favored musical compositions. The Oxford Dictionary of Music states that this is the, "third movement of Debussy's Suite bergamasque". McPartland was born in 1918 in England. She showed musical talent when she was young, because of this McPartland began to take violin lessons; she also studied the piano on her own. McPartland went to the London's Guildhall school of music to train classically. Once she graduated, she went on to have an international career as a jazz pianist and as a composer. Later in her life, McPartland began a record company which was named Halcyon Records. To write Twilight World, McPartland partnered with Jonny Mercer, which became a hit. She died when she was 95 in 2013. I personally enjoyed Twilight World. Margaret Bonds, who was trained in piano classically and was a composer, composed Troubled Water. Bonds was born in 1913 in Chicago and she studied at two colleges, Northwestern University and Juilliard, after which she moved to Los Angeles during the 60s. Shortly after she moved, Bonds began to work as the music director at the Inner City Repertory Theatre. All the while she kept up her solo and duo–pianist career. Bonds piece, Troubled Water, was based upon the spiritual 'Wade in the Water.' I like Troubled Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. Music Appreciation Essay This was the day I had been dreading. I was participating in the Seattle Young Artists Music Festival, an event where students share their music with a small class and receive a lesson from the teacher. My violin teacher and my parents decided that this event would develop my musical skills, so they registered me with enthusiasm. I, on the other hand, was not so enthusiastic. I had never honestly enjoyed performing in the past and I was especially nervous about this event knowing that I would receive a music lesson from an expert violinist after my performance. It did not help to hear stories of strict, criticizing, and rude teachers from my siblings who had previously done this event either. I wondered how any good could come from this event. Though only flippantly, I even considered what would happen if I pretended to be ill or purposely injured my finger. However, before I knew it, the dreadful day arrived and I realized I would just have to go for it. I woke up before the sun and groggily prepared to leave. My Mom and my two siblings, Amy and Aaron, got ready to leave too since Aaron was also performing and Mom and Amy would be accompanying both of us on the piano. While it was still dark, we boarded a ferry headed for Seattle as I tried not to think...show more content... Trembling, I began my first piece, "Romance in G" by Beethoven, and she quickly began to jot down comments. After I had finished my three pieces, my teacher exclaimed, "Bravo!" and everyone gave a loud applause. She proceeded to give me encouraging feedback as well as ways I could improve my technique. Surprisingly, the lesson seemed to pass quickly and when it had ended, I received a sheet of paper with my teacher's written comments and signature. At the bottom of the paper, I noted my teacher's signature, Mimi Zweig, but did not think much of it. Breathing a sigh of relief, I went back to my seat. That was not as bad as I expected, I thought to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. My Favorite Music Essay Teenage years are the times for new experiences and music was no different as the experience marked with great memories of music that is very nostalgic and can be attached to moments good or bad that make us reminisce when we hear the music of our child hood. I am Mexican and my teenage years I spent in Mexico until I was sixteen when my family migrated to the united states however I didn't really understood English I can honestly say that I like Rock En Espanol and would not hesitate to say that it is my favorite genre of music when I was a teenager, I will try my best to share my favorite music as I reminisce on some great music in my past. As a teenager growing up in Mexico I wasn't really interested in listening to music, as my interest were sports and television. The musical influences that I can recall in my early childhood, were those of my parents. Who would listen to Corridos and Rancheras, which were a type of folk Mexican revolutionary music, they would sing about the struggles in life during the Mexican civil war. As I grew up the type of music my friends listen to were Cumbias Colombianas and Rock En Espanol those were my early memories of music which I still listen and enjoy today. I would listen to Rock En Espanol artist like CafГ© Tacuba, Caifanes, Mana, Maldita Vecindad, Enanitos Verdes, and Fabulosos Cadillacs. I began listening more to the lyrics and the sound of the music for example, Maldita Vecindad has a Rock sound that evolved into a Ska sound. Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 21. Music Appreciation Music AppreciationRadio Report Instead of attending a concert and writing a concert report, I decided to do the radio report. On April 24, 2007, I listened to the station WWOZ 90.7 FM from seven to eight p.m. It was hosted by Jivin Jean and Neal. The theme of that session was the 50's Rhythm and Blues. Because the Jazz Fest is approaching, they decided to feature some of the artists that would be performing. In which they varied from Percy Sledge to the Fister Sisters. The first song that they played was no other than, Jazz Fest in New Orleans by the Fister Sisters. The lead vocalist of the group was basically singing about the Jazz Fest. The lyrics of the song featured a lot of history about New Orleans' night...show more content... The next song was Golden Eagles' Indian Red. It began with an Indian chant with other Indians pledging in the background. They were saying how they were the Indians of the Nation. It had a live feeling to it because you could hear the tambourines, Indian drums, and the Indians yelling in the background. Charlie Miller's Piano Night 2003 featured only a piano and a saxophone. It was very boring and off tempo to me. It didn't have a melody or much of a beat that you could follow. It was just thrown together. Check Mr. Popeye by Eddie Bo was very outdoorsy to me. It had a livemusic fest type mood to me. The man was singing about meeting up with Popeye and telling him to check his spinach. The song didn't make much sense to me, but I enjoyed it. I liked Sea Cruise by Johnny Rivers a lot. The man was singing/begging to take a girl on a sea cruise. It reminded me of the movie Cry Baby a little, which is one of my favorites. I enjoyed doing the radio report, but I'd rather do a concert report. It was difficult trying to keep up with the names of the songs when they would announce it. At a concert I would be given a program to follow. But my overall experience with it Get more content on HelpWriting.net
