Classical Music Racism
The feeling of sitting down in a dark movie theater with a bucket of buttered popcorn and your favorite drink is a common experience for most
Americans. The lights dim down and the theater is filled with music; whether it's intense battle music, sweet soft ballets, or a somber melody, the music
sets the mood. What most people don't know is that just over four percent of the musicians in American orchestras are of black or Latino decent, a
statistic that hasn't gone through much change in the last decade. This leads us to wonder why classical music is so racist. The four main issues with
racism in the classical music industry today are the low percent of minority's in the United States and Britain, the lack of classical music opportunities
in inner city schools, low advertisement of classical music to minority's, and an unjust audition and commissioning process. In the United States, there
are 117 symphony orchestras, and only four percent of those orchestras are made up of black or Latino musicians(WQXR). The first issue of racism
in classical music are the remarkably low percentages of minorities in classical music and the uncomfort that minorities face in classical music
culture. This percentage isn't just low in the US, in Britain only five percent of minorities make up professional orchestras (mediadiversified). When
you think of the music industry as a whole, it looks extremely diverse especially in pop music, since the industry is so diverse its easy for diverse

Descriptive Essay On Music
The piano is one of my favorite musical instruments. It is a great instrument because of how easy it is to pick up on it. Unlike other instruments
like the violin and guitar, you always know what you are going to get when you attempt to play a note. It also sounds amazing and it is very
relaxing to the ear. Pianos are played in many styles but the two most popular styles would probably be classical and jazz. Jazz styled music is most
focused on improvisation while classically styled music requires you to master many skills from the keyboard. Classical is known to be the hardest
style to learn. I tried to play a few classical pieces on my piano but each hand is playing completely different notes at different times and it's hard
because the notes are played so fast. If you accidentally play a wrong note, it doesn't sound right. My favorite genres of the piano are classical and
light jazz. There are many singer–songwriters who play piano that inspire me to play. The sound of the piano is very unique and I like how you can
combine many keys to make cool melodies. The piano has evolved over the years from the harpsichord to the grand piano to digital keyboards. In 1700,
the piano was born thanks to Bartolomeo di Francesco Cristofori. The piano is a fascinating instrument that has changed over time and continues to be
an important instrument in the music industry.
The first piano was created by, Bartolomeo di Francesco Cristofori. There isn't any detail about

The Classical Era Of Music
The Classical era was a very important time period where, new ideas and forms of music were created. The Classical era expanded from 1770 to 1820,
and during that time many great composers rose including Franz Joseph Haydn, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and Ludwig Van Beethoven. A very
important composer whose music is still heard today is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. His fame and great works in music changed throughout his
childhood, middle age, and his final years. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born in Salzburg, Austria January 27, 1756. His father Leopold Mozart
was a violinist to the court. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was the child that Leopold was waiting for because he would construct little Mozart into the
greatest composer of all times. Knowing that Leopold had a musical background, he became the teacher of little Mozart. At a very young age Leopold
taught his children everything about music, and when Mozart was six years old little Mozart and his sister were on tour. They went to many places in
Europe including Vienna showing that part of the world what his children were capable of. Leopold could not stop showing off his amazing kids, and
many times he took them to important places to let them play on their own. On the tours little Mozart was not only performing and composing for
others but he was also learning from other important musicians such as Joseph Haydn. Mozart's ability to perform and read music captured the attention
of many nobles, and they wanted to hear more of

Classical Music Reflection
Prompt One
Because of Introduction to Music, my perception of classical art music has changed and more importantly, the course has impacted how I approach
music in general. Before the class, I would have described art music as boring and dingy; however, after learning a plethora of musical elements, and
after thoroughly studying the context of each piece, my interest for the genre grew along with my appreciation for it. To the average listener, Johann
Bach's Cantata No. 140, Wachet auf, I, sounds like atypical church music, presumably from Europe. It is not until one establishes a basic foundation,
until one knows the fundamental elements of classical art music, that an appreciation can be developed. Without the first twelve chapters of The
Enjoyment of Music, I would not have been able to understand the meaning behind the polyphonic texture and dotted rhythms; furthermore, I would
not be able to understand the difference–nonetheless, the meaning–between the ritornello and the counterpoint, and the indirect ideas and concepts
conveyed through them.
Another key takeaway from Introduction to Music was classical music's impact on popular culture. One piece–Richard Wagner's Die WalkГ
јre, Act III,
Opening–was particularly striking. For most of the pieces presented in the class, I was not familiar with them; I hadn't heard them before the class. But
with Die WalkГјre, the listening guide wasn't the first time that I had heard it. Lone and behold, the piece was featured in

Classical vs. Modern Music Essay
Classical vs. Modern Music
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born on January 27, 1756, in Salzburg, Austria. He was born to an overbearing and ambitious father, Leopold, who
was more than anxious to exploit his son's extraordinary musical gifts. Mozart began composing at an early age, and he began touring around the
same time. Throughout his life, Mozart made many enemies, many his own fault, through his naive arrogance and harsh critique of his musical
contemporaries. He worked feverishly, composing symphonies and operas, as well as touring constantly. Mozart died of overwork and kidney failure
on the 5th of December 1791 while still ironically at work on the "Requiem Mass" for an unknown patron. Though he lived for a relatively...show more

7 in A minor, Opus 49. He died in 1881 and was buried in his hometown of Verviers. Mostly Mozart Festival, Avery Fisher Hall, Lincoln Center. This
musical performance included three works from Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart – Symphony No.32 in G, K.318, Piano Concerto in D minor, K.466 and
Symphony No.35 in D, K.385 ("Haffner") – and one from Henry Vieuxtemps– Violin Concerto No.5. Emmanuel Krivine conducted the performance,
with featured soloists Joshua Bell (Vieuxtemps violin concerto) and Stewart Goodyear (Mozart piano concerto). A full orchestra performed the
symphonies.
Overall, the Mostly Mozart Festival was a tremendously enjoyable experience. The qualities that define the works of Mozart are often the same as
those that are used to describe those of the "classical" period of music, from his smooth melodies and flowing rhythm, to his pleasing use of dynamics
to create an atmosphere of complete satisfaction. One of the most defining principles of the style of Mozart is the connection to nature and God, and
the seeming oneness and harmony that can be achieved simply by listening while the melodies take you to a higher plane of thought. The most
enjoyable piece from the performance was "Allegro," from Mozart's Concerto in Dm. There are simply not enough words in the English vocabulary to
describe how eloquently crafted and rhythmically shaped this piece is. One of the most outstanding elements of this piece is the harmony created
between the piano and the
