Globalization and Transfer Pricing Essay
Globalisation could be defined as the interactive co evolution of millions of technological, cultural,
economic, social and environmental trends at all conceivable spatiotemporal scales (Rennen Martens
2003). When discussing globalisation, the topic transfer pricing always seem to arise which could be
because this multi nationals trade between themselves and the government also uses transfer pricing.
Therefore transfer pricing is used wold wide and could be said to be an important accounting factor
which enables the success of a firm due to the fact its set up to induce optimal decision making in
decentralized firms. Transfer pricing could be defined when a company trades goods/services and the
allocation of profits and taxes with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This method could be said to closely reflect the real economic contribution of the division to total
company profits. i.e. if the receiving divisional unit does not exist, the firm would sell at market price
to the external customers and alternatively if the selling unit does not exist, the firm would buy from
the external market at the market price. Therefore the profits derived from each sub unit would likely
be the same even if the divisions were a separate organisation. By using this method in a perfectly
competitive market, a firm satisfies the three purposes which are: meeting the criteria for goal
congruence, evaluating management effort and not undermining sub unit autonomy. Because of the
internal transactions this method provides a cost saving advantage to the sub unit. For example the
selling unit can avoid credit checks cost and collection cost while the buying units can avoid
inspection cost. Therefore, there is a difference in profit due to the cost reduction while trading
internally. A major problem to this transfer pricing method is markets are unlikely to be perfectly
competitive i.e. the goods in the market are differentiated in a particular way (for example: price)
therefore, companies can determine either price or quantity produced. Firstly, the major

Benefits Of Integrated Managed Care
Integrated Managed Care Organization The organization is properly aligned for the primary driver
being cost cutting services. Since all entities within the organization are responsible and affected by
any expenses endured on any entity being unfavorable or favorable, the foundation serves as a primary
motivator to reduce costs at all levels. This alignment eliminates any financial gains from driving high
utilization of services or higher intensity services within the organization. Ultimately, this system
allows the physician medical group to drive care, being responsible for the clinical care decisions as
opposed to health plan making those decisions as designed in other organizations. This is the
preferable model for Medicaid systems as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The couple strengths above are some of the primary drivers of how Kaiser Permanente can provide a
higher quality of care at a better price. One of the main trajectories being keeping health care costs
low for all members. This focuses the awareness on reducing cost, minimizing utilization, keeping
members healthy, and increasing member satisfaction. This alignment of all three entities has
remained the backbone of organization leading to a good amount of success that Kaiser Permanente
has accomplished. Largest Electronic Health Record System Besides giving members ultimately full
access to their health records they are able to collect and analyze health data stored in the electronic
health file. This gives any Kaiser physician access to the patient s health records to evaluate, treat, and
diagnose in an organized efficient manner. Also, this gives Kaiser the availability to flag high risk
patients with chronic conditions that could otherwise fly under the radar. Giving the organization the
ability to develop personalized care development plans and transitioning the patients to outpatient
programs as needed. Kaiser Permanente Phone Application Kaiser Permanente Phone Application

Critique of the Gifted and Talented Evaluation Scales
There are six sections in the response/summary forms (Jarosewich, Pfeiffer, Morris, 2002). Section
one is for identifying information of the student; while section two is where the assessor records the
student s raw scores. Section three plots the results of the GATES in a clear illustration to show the
student s performance against other gifted and talented students. Section four, five, and six all further
detail the raw score of the student by converting the raw score into percentiles, etc. Once the scores
are completed they can be assessed against the individual scales. Based on the student s scores, a
comparison is made against the ranging standard scale to estimate the likelihood of giftedness and
talentedness of the student ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This reflects that the number of items between the maximum score and the average are consistent and
reliable. Test retest reliability, in the short term of one week, on all scales except artistic talent were
fair to good (r .59 to .79) for gifted students and excellent (r .80) for average students and students
with handicaps (Jarosewich, Pfeiffer, Morris, 2002, p. 329). Inter rater reliability measures the test s
reliability and consistency across raters (Jarosewich, Pfeiffer, Morris, 2002). GATES does not provide
any information regarding inter rater reliability. Validity Validity is the assessment of the test s
informational construct, content, and criterion (Jarosewich, Pfeiffer, Morris, 2002). Despite the fact
that GATES does not reference any giftedness theory or theory of support, content validity is
confirmed for GATES since the test was developed based on literature reviews, critiques of existing
rating scales, and academic and test construction experts of the field (Jarosewich, Pfeiffer, Morris,
2002, p. 330). A combination between federal guidelines on giftedness and a confirmatory item
analysis is the basis of GATES creation. Construct validity is an additional way to provide support for
GATES construction by examining its factor structure (Jarosewich, Pfeiffer, Morris, 2002). Through a
discriminant analysis, GATES findings incorrectly classified some students as being gifted in
leadership (60% of the time) and

This research article was published in the journal of Alzheimer s disease and Parkinsonism on August
26th 2013, volume 3, issue 2. Dr.Perea et al. conducted the study at department of neurology,
Alzheimer s Research Disease Center, department of Psychology, Bioengineering program department
of engineering, at University of Kansas School of Medicine, Kansas City, KS, USA. The big question
of this study is to investigate white matter differences to give better understanding of
neurodegenerative disease such as Alzheimer s disease and Parkinson s disease. It asks specifically
whether individuals with Parkinson s disease dementia will show significant white matter
deterioration when compared to healthy non demented control individuals. The hypothesis of this
study states that cognitive decline and impaired motor control in Parkinson s disease dementia (PDD)
will greatly show deterioration in white matter as compared to groups of healthy individuals control
group (CON), Alzheimer s disease group, and Parkinson s disease group (Perea et al. 2013). It was
known before through many scientific studies that white matter differences are actually associated
with neurodegenerative diseases. Researches few decades ago studied white matter differences using
diffusion tensor imaging (DTI); which measures the orientation and direction of water molecules in
neural tissue and the integrity of white matter fibers (Perea et al. 2013). One example was mentioned

THE EVALUATION ART OF WEBSTER AS A DRAMATIST
ABSTRACT
Webster is one of the greatest dramatist in the Post Elizabethan period and his place is among the
tragedy writers of the Elizabethan Age. The White Devil and The Duchess of Malfi, in these two
tragedies, he reveals himself as great dramatist, and his power to grip the imagination by subtle
suggestions. Both these plays present a study in revenge a subject dear to the heart of the Elizabethan
dramatists. Webster used psychological approach to characters, pessimism, satirical intent and
humanity in sense of pathos in his plays. That plays are value of men and women have been plunged
into and also struggled against wickedness have been the object of his study. Webster s reputation rests
on The White Devil and The Duchess of Malfi. Opinions differ as to which is the better. The Duchess
of Malfi would probably be if a vote were taken but for freshness and intensity of passion the white
devil could be regarded as Webster s masterpiece.

There is a touch of humanity in his writings. Webster knows the art of touching the heart of the readers
by presenting spectacles of pathos in the plays. The Duchess of Malfi is marked with a note of deep
pathos and the heart of readers is touched for sad lot of the Duchess and Cariola who meet their end at
the hands of the executioners. In passionate vigour, Webster is inferior to Beaumont and fletcher, but
for downright imaginative beauty and pathos, Webster is unapproachable, except by Shakespeare.
Take for instance this; There is much pathos and beauty also in The Duchess of Malfi especially in the
scene of the murder, though the play as a whole strikes one as less fresh in conception and more
obvious in its claim upon our sympathies. The tragedy is marked with a note of pathos and we feel

How Hamlet s First Soliloquy Effects The Audience
How Hamlet s First Soliloquy Effects the Audience Hamlet s first soliloquy in Act 1, Scene 2 is an
incredibly passionate and shocking passage. The passage is contrasting the artificial actions and
dialogues that Hamlet illustrates to his uncle Claudius through the entire play. The soliloquy reveals
Hamlet s melancholia and the reason for his anger, hatred, pain, and grief by explaining how
miserable his life seems. He misses his father deeply; he is disgusted by his mother and uncle s
marriage, and feels horrible about his whole situation wishing he was dead. Shakespeare is using
different types of literal in Hamlet s soliloquy to connect with the audience by revealing indirect
information like juxtaposition, metaphor, and imagery. Hamlet ... Show more content on

Hamlet may be portraying his mother as a sort of Virgin Mary who was sexually untouched and un
violated like an un breached garden prior to her fall. This would make Claudius into a Satan like
figure that breaches the garden with his bed stewed in corruption (III.iv.93) and she loses her purity
and grows to seed. Much of the imagery is dark, rank , and gross (I.ii.140) which helps create the sad
mood that Hamlet is in. He uses an awful lot of juxtaposition, similes, and metaphors to make it
obviously clear the point he is trying to get across. Shakespeare seems to use these comparisons in a
fashion to make the difference between the two objects as blatant as possible, as evidenced by the
Hyperion/satyr comparison. Allusions are also used heavily throughout in order to give his ideas more
backing and support, especially referring to past mythology with Hyperion, Hercules, and the

Dedication in the Military The word Dedication can be used to describe many things, such as
dedicating a work of art to a person or group of people. Additionally, dedicating a new building or
roadway to commemorate its completion is a form of dedication. What Dedication means to the
military member is something different all together and something not many get to experience. No
matter what branch of service or what country you serve, the dedication is the same for all. Though the
history of each branch of the armed forces is different, the dedication is the same. The willingness to
serve is the same. The sacrifice is the same (Mueller). Being dedicated to the military means changing

Brazil is known for its diversity and this is because the population of Brazil is made up of many
different nationalities. Brazil is called The Melting Pot of such an immense assortment of different
races and cultures. (Nayagam, 2015) Like many other continents and countries, Brazil had natives on
the land, these natives were called the native Indians. The continent has since been colonized by white
European s from countries including Spain, Holland and Portugal. The country that has had the
biggest effect on Brazil in these early days was Portugal and this is why the most common language
spoken in Brazil is Portuguese. In this colonization there were a great number of Black Africa slaves
that were also brought onto the land. (aboutbrasil.com, 2017) Because this was some time ago, dating

The managers have the power to take decisions in order to decide what is best for the company under

The companies are structureted like a pyramid ,in the low level we could find the DEPARTMENT

Schools Have A New Meaning On Sexism And Double Standards
Schools have put a new meaning on sexism and double standards. An example of this is having double
standards and sexism towards the dress codes. Students who have families well known or the student
is well liked by the teachers, do not receive the same punishment for breaking the dress code as an
ordinary student. This demonstrates that schools are not fair in setting rules for dress codes. Particular
students are allowed to wear certain clothing, whereas other students are punished for wearing similar
clothing. Schools have double standards as to what is appropriate and what appears to be revealing
and how the following student should be punished. Maggie Sunseri produced a video that led to a
change in her school s dress code exemplifying why schools should be equal, unbiased, and unsexist
when setting and enforcing the dress codes.
Schools have dress codes that are biased and gender specific towards women. For example, if a male
student were to break dress code they would be told to fix the problem; however, a female student
would have more serious consequences. Female students would have a call to parents for a change of
clothing or would be sent home because administrators find this to be a distraction to the male
students. School administrators do not see the effect the unjust, biased school dress codes have on the
female students. The dress codes cause students to feel self conscious, and Maggie Sunseri, a student
from Woodford High, has been a victim of dress code

This leaves the new government with three key needs. As somewhere else, its capability to deliver the

steady, long haul approach that will lead the progress to a low outflows economy. The legislature will
have the capacity to do this through a blend of managerial activity and crossparty help. Then comes
restoration of energy market improvement through the COAG Energy Council. The third is to exploit
the gas market to its maximum value and maintain continuous supply. It requires support as these are
not one sided political issues and this requires help also from the territory and state governments.
Government should also formulate plans for dealing with the issues fast rather than just implementing
what was previously discussed. In 2016, almost 17500 GWh of renewable energy was generated

It isn t bold like the exclamation mark or straightforward like the period, but the semicolon is more
than just the eyes of your smiley. It isn t bold like the exclamation mark or straightforward like the
period, but the semicolon is more than just the eyes of your smiley. It s a subtle form of punctuation,
but it does not have to be difficult. The main purpose of a semicolon is to join two complete and
similar sentences. When two thoughts are tied strongly to one another, you may find a period too great
a separation. Using a semicolon visibly increases the link between these thoughts. Our rule with
semicolons then becomes as follows: If you can use a period, you can use a semicolon. This does not

In early March of 1951, the case United States v Julius Rosenberg, Ethel Rosenberg, and Morton
Sobell argued whether the Rosenbergs planned execution should forgo or be rescinded for violating
the Espionage Act of 1917 and being guilty of starting the Korean War. In the late 1940 s and early
1950 s the Cold War was ongoing, with the United States and the Soviet Union entrenched in an
ongoing battle over the supremacy of the west. Paul Frazier, an author for the Magazine of History in
Bloomington states, One of the most intriguing aspects of the Cold War relationship between the
Americans and the Soviets was the development of vast networks of spies and counterspies (Frazier).
The United States and the Soviet s relationship establishes an early conflict between the two nations,
further affecting future diplomatic relations. Julius Rosenberg s sympathy towards the Soviets and
anger towards the United State s current position on the world s economic stage ultimately led to his
act of traitorous espionage. Michael Browning, a writer for the Palm Beach Post newspaper states,
What united the Rosenbergs was a belief in communism, strengthened by the Depression and Russia s
fight against Hitler during World War 2 , (Browning). The United States depression and Julius s
admiration for Russia s fight against Hitler motivated him to turn against his home nation during a
time of crisis. To conclude, Cold War tensions and Julius s appreciation for Soviet life and government

Conformity In The Lottery
Conformity, the act of mimicking a groups behavior, attitudes, or beliefs. Is this a positive or negative

thing because the Holocaust, Tessie Hutchinson was stoned to death, and the mere presence of friends

Joan Didion s Essay Slouching Towards Bethlehem
Joan Didion s book of essays titled Slouching Towards Bethlehem provides a great deal of information
on the author. She summarizes herself in the preface of the text. She states that she is so physically

avoids situations where she has to talk to press agents and or make telephone calls. It is quite obvious
that Didion considers herself shy, bland, and anxious (xiv). Readers know that she grew up with a

including healthy eating, exercise and a balanced lifestyle.
Company Description:
This year as a part of the Hauraki Plains College Year 12 Business Studies, we are creating and
conducting a business that aims at targeting young people and their wellbeing. We intend to educate
the younger generation about healthy eating, and being active to promote healthy habits in the younger
generation, which can be carried through later into their life. Our aim is to conduct a classroom lesson
with a practical element to a selected syndicate along with lunch orders for the entire school.
Our aim is to teach the students about healthy lifestyles, and how you don t have to be strict and treat
your body badly to be healthy. By doing this we also hope to educate kids early about the risks of
obesity on all aspects of their lifestyle. It benefits the students as they come out with a bit more
knowledge on these problems which affect our youth. The kids will come out aware of healthy and
unhealthy food choices and how it is negative overall, with no benefits.
An outline for the theoretical lesson will include a powerpoint with facts and important information on
the topic, that we hope will be easy to understand, but makes the kids understand how much sugar we

The Rate Of Movement Of The Porcellio Scaber Moved Slower...
Conclusion:
In conclusion, my graph shows how the average rate of movement of the porcellio scaber moved
slower at lower temperatures (at 5°C, the average rate of movement was 0.2cm/second) and increased
movement as the temperature got higher (at 25°C, the average rate of movement was 0.5cm/second).
My hypothesis was partially correct as the porcellio scabers did move slower at lower temperatures
and moved faster as the temperature increased. But, the porcellio scabers did not move slower at their
optimum range of 15°C. This may have been because of the temperature in the classroom at the time
when I was doing my experiments. For example, when doing my experiment at 15°C, the temperature
in the classroom was 24°C. This factor may have affected my results as the temperature in the room
has affected the temperature being tested on the porcellio scaber.
Discussion:
This investigation was carried out to determine if the rate of movement of porcellio scabers changed
when it was placed in different temperatures and therefore if the temperature affected their ecological
niche. My graph is slightly different compared to the Rosehill College s practical investigation of
porcellio scabers graph, found under the biology section on the Rosehill College webpage. The
Rosehill College porcellio scaber graph from 5°C to 15°C decreased in average rate of movement and
from 15°C to 25°C, it increased in average rate of movement. My graph did not decrease at any point

1. Paul and Gnosticism.
What was Paul s response to the 1st century circumcision controversy? What were the characteristic
features (beliefs practices) of Gnostic Christianity? And in your judgment, can either viewpoint (or
both) be considered orthodox over against the other?
Throughout the early history of Christianity, disputes broke out over mosaic law, particularly in the
mid first century when the issue of circumcision, cutting off the foreskin of a man s penis, was a
heavily debated and a recurring issue among different churches and members of the church. Many
Christians believed that following the mosaic law, which included the act of circumcision, was no
longer required for salvation as having faith and accepting Jesus as the messiah would be enough.
Others, on the other hand, believed that requirements set forth in the mosaic law were still necessary
to be saved. These people were negatively branded with the name Judaizers (those who believed that
all Christians should follow the Law of Moses), and were often criticized for being discriminatory and
elitist. A meeting was then held to discuss the whether the application of the mosaic law to new
members of the Christian community, particularly focusing on if those trying to convert, were obliged
undergo circumcision to be accepted into, and become part of, the Christian community. The apostolic
decree of the council of Jerusalem moved away from its

Providing public subsidies for private stadiums is providing corporate welfare plain and simple. Public
subsidies for stadiums go directly into the pockets of team owners and players by increasing profits,
player salaries and raising the re sale value of the team. According to one study, a new stadium
increases team profits by an average of $11 million annually, payroll salaries by $14 million and
increases team book value by $90 million. (Depken, 2003) The billionaire team owners and the player
s profit, but the taxpayer doesn t see a dime.
Politics Involved
The fear of losing a sports team, and the votes of sports fans, have caused local officials to blink time
and time again and to waste public funds to buy the votes of the vocal and organized few, versus the
best interests of the largest portion of their voters.
Thus we can see why public money is eagerly donated. The full costs of a stadium and the damage it
does to communities are often years in the future, long after the politician is known for being the hero
that save our local team and has moved on to bigger and better things, now with the campaign funding
of the very teams that they built homes for and the fans who continue to pay. Team owners can choose
new cities but cities can t choose new teams thanks to the leagues government sanctioned monopolies
over franchise placement, mayors for example, feel they must offer owners anything they want.

Pinocchio, A Classic Film Directed By Norman Ferguson
Human Nature, a state of dangerous and unpredictable practicality that intertwines within difficulties
of our lives. Humans make mistakes not because we are programmed to do so, but because we have an
analytical mindset to choose what best suits our self interest . If you would ask me, Human nature is
probably one of the most terrifying things of this Earth. Nevertheless, you can t stand but to love
humanism and the persona of one s being. Pinocchio, a classic film directed by Norman Ferguson,
reminds us how it is to be vulnerable, fragile, and human. Through the linear progression of choice
and opposition, Pinocchio s wooden heart has to learn the acrimonious trial of human temptation and
deviance in order to become a real boy. Thus creating the theme, you must go through trial, turbulation
and experiences in order to truly appreciate humanity and others.
In the beginning, just as many films begin, we open the story. This simple action helps the audience
literally envision the beginning, the opening, the first page of a story. This makes the film more
personable, as if we were reading the book with a family member before going to bed. In the timeline,
we would call this the exposition in which happiness and no opposing forces have occurred yet.
Pinocchio is still a wooden puppet and we are introduced to the characters of the film. What I find is
interesting is that Even from the beginning, Pinocchio was the closest to human out of all the toys and
wooden clocks in the

Hospice Care Thesis
Thesis Palliative/Hospice Care: Necessity or Extension of Healthcare: a topic chosen to obtain clarity
of services, while questioning who is benefiting, patients or the healthcare system.
I. Introduction: The Historical Roots of Hospice
In the 8th century, B.C. the Homeric times, all Greeks without exception were regarded as being under
the protection of Zeus Xenios, the god of strangers and supplicants. A wanderer would be treated as a
guest and offered food, shelter, clothing, and gifts. Violation of the duties of hospitality were likely to
provoke the wrath from the gods. (Forman and Kitzes, et al 2003). Patients who were not cured by an

The medical regime, health care organizations and the public are aware of these end of life issues,
therefore must prioritize it s needs. The American Medical Association and the Institute of Medicine
foundation has devoted millions of dollars to public education on this issue through the Last Acts
initiative. (Forman and Kitzes, et al 2003).
This is one reason so many patients enter hospice only in the last days of life. A more reasonable
approach would be to have a patient begin Palliative/Hospice care while receiving curative care. The
Center for Medicare Medicaid Services (CMS) is about to embark on a project to evaluate whether
providing hospice services earlier in an illness along with curative care, improves quality of life for
patients while reducing Medicare spending.
If Palliative/Hospice care were to be provided soon after a terminal diagnosis, there would be more
hospice care would be more timely. About a third of hospice patients die within seven days of
admission to a Palliative/Hospice program. This short length of stay compromises the quality of care
that hospice offers.

Industrilization In The 1800 s
Industrilization began in the late 1700s throught the 1800 s and this was a huge change for the U.S.
This also became an incredible part to America in the early to mid 1800 s. Technology and machines
made production of new goods easier for businesses but industries that were new needed easier and
efficient ways to bring in raw materials. They needed to bring these materials to the factories and
transport the items to new markets but they needed workers to help dp all of this work. Immigration

Rowan Williams Argument For The Existence Of God
Rowan Williams is the current Archbishop of Canterbury and leader of the Church of England wrote a
book based on Christian belief. He is the chief religious figure of England as such he is responsible for
leading the life and witness of the Church of England in particular by his teaching and oversight, and
promoting and guiding the communion of the world wide Anglican Church. He knows his audience,
they are Christians, seeking answers about God s existence. Williams does not come across as a
lecturer rather it reads as if he is having a conversation with his audience. He allows for the reader to
pause and reflect what he has written. In his writings, he explains that he explains that, The Bible has
no arguments for the existence of God , and never has a person entered into faith because of a
compelling argument that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead, his writings make the reader sit back and examine if they are in the faith. Williams keeps his
ideas about God s existence the same throughout both texts yet changes his style of writing for his
specific type of audience.
When his six year old daughter, Lulu, wrote a letter to God, journalist Alex Renton did his best to get
her an answer. After asking friends and family to help, he sent the letter to Williams and was surprised
to get a response. There is clearly a shift in audience between the first and second text. The first text
was directed to a general audience of varying ages, and the second text is addressed to a six year old
girl, Lulu. The first text focuses more on the complex topic of the existence of God and the possibility
that he interferes with our world. The second text, is a personal letter addressed to a

Mark Edmundson And Paulo Freire
Although Mark Edmundson and Paulo Freire believe that a higher form of education such as, a
stronger teaching ethics, deeper understanding, and more passionate students is needed to correct the
issues at hand. In their essay they both adopt a different style to present tis idea. Paulo Freire wants the
individual to form himself rather than be formed. To this end, he proposes that educational topics or
opportunities be taken from the daily experience the individual constantly encounters and avoid the
current educational pitfall of resorting to artificial experiences. While, Edmundson is trying to show
how education has change due to the leak of consumerism into universities. Edmundson acknowledge
his own conformity and promise to change back to what he thinks will make a good class and
challenge his students to think on another level.
Paulo Freire dwells on the idea that a teacher s task is to simplify fill a student s mind. He describes
the banking concept as a habitual learning process where the teachers oppress the knowledge that they
considered important on the student by supplying the student with the material and not given them the
opportunity to question the material presented. Freire states; that In the banking concept of education,
knowledge is a gift bestowed by those who considered themselves knowledgeable upon those whom
they considered to know nothing. Projecting an absolute ignorance onto others, a characteristic of the
ideology of oppression, negates

Don John In Shakespeare s Much Ado About Nothing
Stories are a reflection of real life. We can see real life messages and examples of how to act through
the actions of the characters. Don John from Shakespeare s Much Ado About Nothing is not a good
influence, but a careful reader can still use him as an example of how a godly Christian should not
behave. Don John is morose while God calls us to be joyful, he attempts to cause strife when God tells
us to live in harmony with others, and he flees and does not take responsibility for his actions while
Christ freely took on responsibility for the actions of all mankind. Don John himself states that he is
naturally sullen. He uses his natural bad temper as to excuse himself from taking responsibility for his
actions. Don John says, it must not be denied, but I am a plain dealing villain(Much). The bible tells
us in Thessalonians 5:16 18, Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances,
for this is God s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. Don John is a morose person and does not

Religious wars in the Middle East (Holy Land)
There were many conflicts that lead to religious wars in the Middle East or the Holy Land. History
gives no valid claim to any piece of land; someone else was always there earlier. This gives reason
that the Arabs and Israelis are not fighting about religion due to the fact that they are not trying to
promote their faith. Many religions peoplehood are rooted in the Holy Land, such as Judaism and
Christianity. The ancient Hebrews were almost continually at war and were conquered by Assyria,
Persia, Alexander the Great, and Rome. The Jews became a dispersed people but preserved a sense of
their nationhood through the books of the Bible. Over time many of the Jews were converted; whether
it was forced or voluntary, they assimilated into local life. Jews became so intertwined in the lives of
people all around the world. The Jews had a psychological connection to the land rather than a blood
connection. This allowed the Jews to spread spatially while still developing a strong connection to
God. The peaceful spread of Jews, though, caused religious carnages and expulsions. The
Enlightenment of the eighteenth century brought back religious intolerance and brought Jews out of
the ghetto and into citizenship in West Europe. This was a slow process done in backward Russia
where most Jews lived. Earlier outbursts against the Jews were connected to the fight to convert them.
The new nationalism of Europe saw Jews as a racially distinct and impure people. Nationalism is an

The Rule Of Antoninus Plus ( C. Ce )
During the rule of Antoninus Plus (c. 138 161 CE), Romans began to favor burials over cremations
and the demand for sarcophagi grew rapidly (Kleiner 215). Greek mythology was heavily borrowed
upon by the Roman and prominent members of the Roman society wanted to be commemorated in the
fashion of Greek heroes. The Romans took the general principles of an Egyptian sarcophagus and
added Greek mythology to create a unique piece of Roman art and The Sarcophagus Depicting a
Battle between Soldiers and Amazons (Warrior Women) is one such example. The Egyptians were the
first to use a sarcophagus to bury and commemorate their dead, and judging from the war themed
artwork on this Roman sarcophagus, it was most likely built to commemorate the death of a great
warrior. The Sarcophagus Depicting a Battle between Soldiers and Amazons (Warrior Women) is a
massive piece of Roman funerary art made of a hollowed out block of white marble around 140 170
CE. Weighing an impressive 5511.5 pounds, the sarcophagus is 40 ½ x 91 ½ x 50 ½ inches in
dimension and is comprised of a lid and casket (The Museum of Fine Arts). The identity of the
sculptor is unknown, and considering the careful attention detail on this impressive work of art, it is
possible that crafting the sarcophagus was the work of multiple sculptors. Unlike the Egyptians, who
preferred gold, the mineral of choice for the Romans was marble. Unlike most Egyptian sarcophagi,
which had a portrait of the dead on the lid, the lid of the

Morality In Elie s A Confederacy Of Dunces
Whereas Ignatius rather nonsensical pessimistic worldview comes from his sense of being morally
greater than his society (and, therefore, from looking at it in disgust), and from a position of general
opulence, Elie s stems from a macabre realization that all people, including himself, are bestial and
selfish, and from a position of total destitution. Ignatius believed himself to be a beacon of morality in
an otherwise dismal society. For instance, throughout A Confederacy of Dunces, he would write about
the evils of the hedonistic, bourgeois society in which he lived, and about how the world would be in a
much better position if based on the medieval principles (such as divine right and cruel forms of
torture) in which he subscribed were put in place. Often, he went to the movie theater solely to
criticize the movies and describe to the audience the changes he would make in order to make the
stories more in tune ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand, throughout Night, Elie often remarked of his loss of humanity and emotion.
Whereas, in the beginning of this story, Elie thought himself to be a very moral person, even a person
worthy enough to study the Kabbalah, through his ordeal, he saw that he and all humans are cruel and
act on instinct rather than emotion. This point can be highlighted through Elie s diminishing concern
for his father. Though he often tried to keep himself and his father alive at the start of their time in the
internment camps, Wiesel slowly lost this concern (in fact, he started to hate his father for being a
burden) with time and with the realization of his need to act on instinct in order to survive. This
culminated in the end of the book when Elie totally ignored his father s pleas for food, and he, instead,
wished his father would be taken to be killed sooner. Considering both of these cases, Ignatius
pessimism carries no justification at all, whereas Wiesel s does.

The Transformation from Traditional Management Systems to...
Executive Summary
Traditional management systems rely on volume to allocate overhead. Indirect cost is allocated to
items such as direct labor hours, units produced or the production of machine hours. Using only single
cost drivers, potentially distorts cost estimates especially when dealing with high volume production.
The implementation of Activity Based Costing serves as a solution to this downside in traditional
systems. ABC utilizes various cost drivers both volume and non volume related to estimate costs,
providing more accurate estimations. Although this method benefits managers in providing the
information needed for decision making and improving efficiency of business processes, it still is only

Bianco (2011) supports the fact that firms within the traditional channel see themselves as independent
businesses that seek the lowest purchase price and increase sales prices to gain higher profits. It
further states that traditional methods result in diseconomies caused by redundancies, usually in the
case of inventories.
The lack of technology in traditional systems does not provide very much coordination with the
supply chain. As a result there is possible delay in delivery of products and services from the supplier
to the customer. Additionally the unavailability or delayed delivery of customer information takes
away from adding value to customers and may in turn decrease profitability and performance.
Advances in information technology have radically changed access to information and in turn the
business landscape, so much so, that the current business era is frequently referred to as the
information age. (Jiambalvo 2007, p. 14). As technology continues to advanced companies are
realizing that in order to keep up the pace in a competitive global market there is a need for change in
the way they conduct business regarding suppliers and customers. Companies are moving towards
systems such as Supply Chain Management and Customer Relationship Management Systems that are
more efficient in processing information and fuel improved operation of the value chain and
interactions with suppliers and

Student Loan Debt And Consumer Choice
Student Loan Debt and Consumer Choice In today s society, student loans are haunting the lives of
millions of postgraduates all over the United States. Students who have carelessly taken out loans and
those in serious need of financial aid for their college education are now burdened with thousands of
dollars worth of debt. As the student debt average continues to increase in our nation, the budgets of
postgraduates begin to dwindle and the amount of defaults grow dramatically. With the large student
debts our young adults are now dealt with, recent graduates are forced to compromise certain aspects
of their quality and standard of living after graduation. Our nation s recent graduate s budgets are
being directly affected by the student loan debt and interest accrued during and after their college
careers. Student loans are a form of financial aid given by federal and private organizations designed
to help fund the student s tuition, housing, books, and other expenses. Student loans are primarily
given to those who are in most need of financial assistance. The interest rates that accompany these
loans are relatively lower than those of credit cards, housing and auto loans, because these loans were
meant to be quickly and easily paid off. With federal interest rates fixed at as low as five percent and
private loan interest rates decreasing, it comes to question: why is the amount of student loan debt in
our nation increasing so rapidly? And with the amount of student loan

The Duke challenges the idea that Othello cannot be a morally righteous person because of his race.
Also, in Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn, by the end of the book, Miss Watson develops more

while talking about Miss Watson, Huck says, Old Miss Watson died two months ago, and she was
ashamed she was ever going to sell him down the river, and said so; and she set him free in her will

Religious Experiences are all Illusions
Religious experiences are all illusions. Discuss. Most arguments for the existence of God are a
posteriori , seeking to move from experiences within the world to the existence of God rather than
relying on the definition of God to prove his existence. Religious experience is an interaction with
God or a feeling of connection with a higher power. It is interesting to note that William James never
spoke of God but of the spiritual , unseen order or higher aspects of the world. Does a person have to
be sure they encountered God rather than connecting with a higher power for their experience to be

We must appreciate that if God is beyond the limited physical world of objects that are known through
the senses then he cannot be experienced. Otto believed that religion must be derived from a separate
being from this world. He believed religious experience was a personal experience of the numinous
that brought feelings of awe inspiring holiness. Otto thought that the numinous couldn t be
successfully described using everyday human language as the experience is beyond ordinary
experiences perceived by our senses. Words that are used tend to get close to experience but cannot
pin it down. Otto called the words used to describe the experience its schema, but believed this
schema was only an attempt to find words that could begin to describe the experience although the
idea is inexpressible. Otto was developing the ideas of Schleiermacher who believed the essence of
religion was based in personal experience. He thought that religious experience is self authenticating
and requires no other testing to see if it is genuine. He believed experiences should have priority and
statements of belief should be formatted to fit them. Also, James considered that religious experiences
lie at the heart of all religion. We have to consider whether religions would have been founded and

One example of a contemporary topic that is in the news in the U.S. that relates to the anti Japanese

the Japanese Americans were looked at during World War II. Even though there is a large majority of
Muslims in America that are American citizens and were born in America, many people fear them and
are uncomfortable in their presence. Although returning to the practice of isolating a whole race in

  • 2. Globalization and Transfer Pricing Essay Globalisation could be defined as the interactive co evolution of millions of technological, cultural, economic, social and environmental trends at all conceivable spatiotemporal scales (Rennen Martens 2003). When discussing globalisation, the topic transfer pricing always seem to arise which could be because this multi nationals trade between themselves and the government also uses transfer pricing. Therefore transfer pricing is used wold wide and could be said to be an important accounting factor which enables the success of a firm due to the fact its set up to induce optimal decision making in decentralized firms. Transfer pricing could be defined when a company trades goods/services and the allocation of profits and taxes with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This method could be said to closely reflect the real economic contribution of the division to total company profits. i.e. if the receiving divisional unit does not exist, the firm would sell at market price to the external customers and alternatively if the selling unit does not exist, the firm would buy from the external market at the market price. Therefore the profits derived from each sub unit would likely be the same even if the divisions were a separate organisation. By using this method in a perfectly competitive market, a firm satisfies the three purposes which are: meeting the criteria for goal congruence, evaluating management effort and not undermining sub unit autonomy. Because of the internal transactions this method provides a cost saving advantage to the sub unit. For example the selling unit can avoid credit checks cost and collection cost while the buying units can avoid inspection cost. Therefore, there is a difference in profit due to the cost reduction while trading internally. A major problem to this transfer pricing method is markets are unlikely to be perfectly competitive i.e. the goods in the market are differentiated in a particular way (for example: price) therefore, companies can determine either price or quantity produced. Firstly, the major ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Since all entities within the organization are responsible and affected by any expenses endured on any entity being unfavorable or favorable, the foundation serves as a primary motivator to reduce costs at all levels. This alignment eliminates any financial gains from driving high utilization of services or higher intensity services within the organization. • 4. Critique of the Gifted and Talented Evaluation Scales There are six sections in the response/summary forms (Jarosewich, Pfeiffer, Morris, 2002). Section one is for identifying information of the student; while section two is where the assessor records the student s raw scores. Section three plots the results of the GATES in a clear illustration to show the student s performance against other gifted and talented students. Section four, five, and six all further detail the raw score of the student by converting the raw score into percentiles, etc. Once the scores are completed they can be assessed against the individual scales. Based on the student s scores, a comparison is made against the ranging standard scale to estimate the likelihood of giftedness and talentedness of the student ... Test retest reliability, in the short term of one week, on all scales except artistic talent were fair to good (r .59 to .79) for gifted students and excellent (r .80) for average students and students with handicaps (Jarosewich, Pfeiffer, Morris, 2002, p. 329). Inter rater reliability measures the test s reliability and consistency across raters (Jarosewich, Pfeiffer, Morris, 2002). GATES does not provide any information regarding inter rater reliability. Validity Validity is the assessment of the test s informational construct, content, and criterion (Jarosewich, Pfeiffer, Morris, 2002). Despite the fact that GATES does not reference any giftedness theory or theory of support, content validity is confirmed for GATES since the test was developed based on literature reviews, critiques of existing rating scales, and academic and test construction experts of the field (Jarosewich, Pfeiffer, Morris, 2002, p. 330). A combination between federal guidelines on giftedness and a confirmatory item analysis is the basis of GATES creation. Construct validity is an additional way to provide support for GATES construction by examining its factor structure (Jarosewich, Pfeiffer, Morris, 2002). Through a discriminant analysis, GATES findings incorrectly classified some students as being gifted in leadership (60% of the time) and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. A Comparative Study of Parkinson’s Disease with Dementia... This research article was published in the journal of Alzheimer s disease and Parkinsonism on August 26th 2013, volume 3, issue 2. Dr.Perea et al. conducted the study at department of neurology, Alzheimer s Research Disease Center, department of Psychology, Bioengineering program department of engineering, at University of Kansas School of Medicine, Kansas City, KS, USA. The big question of this study is to investigate white matter differences to give better understanding of neurodegenerative disease such as Alzheimer s disease and Parkinson s disease. It asks specifically whether individuals with Parkinson s disease dementia will show significant white matter deterioration when compared to healthy non demented control individuals. The hypothesis of this study states that cognitive decline and impaired motor control in Parkinson s disease dementia (PDD) will greatly show deterioration in white matter as compared to groups of healthy individuals control group (CON), Alzheimer s disease group, and Parkinson s disease group (Perea et al. 2013). It was known before through many scientific studies that white matter differences are actually associated with neurodegenerative diseases. Researches few decades ago studied white matter differences using diffusion tensor imaging (DTI); which measures the orientation and direction of water molecules in neural tissue and the integrity of white matter fibers (Perea et al. 2013). • 6. Compare And Contrast The White Duster And The Duchess Of... THE EVALUATION ART OF WEBSTER AS A DRAMATIST ABSTRACT Webster is one of the greatest dramatist in the Post Elizabethan period and his place is among the tragedy writers of the Elizabethan Age. The White Devil and The Duchess of Malfi, in these two tragedies, he reveals himself as great dramatist, and his power to grip the imagination by subtle suggestions. Both these plays present a study in revenge a subject dear to the heart of the Elizabethan dramatists. Webster used psychological approach to characters, pessimism, satirical intent and humanity in sense of pathos in his plays. That plays are value of men and women have been plunged into and also struggled against wickedness have been the object of his study. Webster s reputation rests on The White Devil and The Duchess of Malfi. Opinions differ as to which is the better. The Duchess of Malfi would probably be if a vote were taken but for freshness and intensity of passion the white devil could be regarded as Webster s masterpiece. Webster knows the art of touching the heart of the readers by presenting spectacles of pathos in the plays. The Duchess of Malfi is marked with a note of deep pathos and the heart of readers is touched for sad lot of the Duchess and Cariola who meet their end at the hands of the executioners. In passionate vigour, Webster is inferior to Beaumont and fletcher, but for downright imaginative beauty and pathos, Webster is unapproachable, except by Shakespeare. Take for instance this; There is much pathos and beauty also in The Duchess of Malfi especially in the scene of the murder, though the play as a whole strikes one as less fresh in conception and more obvious in its claim upon our sympathies. The tragedy is marked with a note of pathos and we feel sorry for the deaths of the innocent persons in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. How Hamlet s First Soliloquy Effects The Audience How Hamlet s First Soliloquy Effects the Audience Hamlet s first soliloquy in Act 1, Scene 2 is an incredibly passionate and shocking passage. The passage is contrasting the artificial actions and dialogues that Hamlet illustrates to his uncle Claudius through the entire play. The soliloquy reveals Hamlet s melancholia and the reason for his anger, hatred, pain, and grief by explaining how miserable his life seems. He misses his father deeply; he is disgusted by his mother and uncle s marriage, and feels horrible about his whole situation wishing he was dead. Shakespeare is using different types of literal in Hamlet s soliloquy to connect with the audience by revealing indirect information like juxtaposition, metaphor, and imagery. Hamlet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hamlet may be portraying his mother as a sort of Virgin Mary who was sexually untouched and un violated like an un breached garden prior to her fall. This would make Claudius into a Satan like figure that breaches the garden with his bed stewed in corruption (III.iv.93) and she loses her purity and grows to seed. Much of the imagery is dark, rank , and gross (I.ii.140) which helps create the sad mood that Hamlet is in. He uses an awful lot of juxtaposition, similes, and metaphors to make it obviously clear the point he is trying to get across. Shakespeare seems to use these comparisons in a fashion to make the difference between the two objects as blatant as possible, as evidenced by the Hyperion/satyr comparison. Allusions are also used heavily throughout in order to give his ideas more backing and support, especially referring to past mythology with Hyperion, Hercules, and the ... • 12. Schools Have A New Meaning On Sexism And Double Standards Schools have put a new meaning on sexism and double standards. An example of this is having double standards and sexism towards the dress codes. Students who have families well known or the student is well liked by the teachers, do not receive the same punishment for breaking the dress code as an ordinary student. This demonstrates that schools are not fair in setting rules for dress codes. Particular students are allowed to wear certain clothing, whereas other students are punished for wearing similar clothing. Schools have double standards as to what is appropriate and what appears to be revealing and how the following student should be punished. Maggie Sunseri produced a video that led to a change in her school s dress code exemplifying why schools should be equal, unbiased, and unsexist when setting and enforcing the dress codes. Schools have dress codes that are biased and gender specific towards women. For example, if a male student were to break dress code they would be told to fix the problem; however, a female student would have more serious consequences. Female students would have a call to parents for a change of clothing or would be sent home because administrators find this to be a distraction to the male students. School administrators do not see the effect the unjust, biased school dress codes have on the female students. The dress codes cause students to feel self conscious, and Maggie Sunseri, a student from Woodford High, has been a victim of dress code ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The legislature will have the capacity to do this through a blend of managerial activity and crossparty help. Then comes restoration of energy market improvement through the COAG Energy Council. The third is to exploit the gas market to its maximum value and maintain continuous supply. It requires support as these are not one sided political issues and this requires help also from the territory and state governments. Government should also formulate plans for dealing with the issues fast rather than just implementing what was previously discussed. It isn t bold like the exclamation mark or straightforward like the period, but the semicolon is more than just the eyes of your smiley. It s a subtle form of punctuation, but it does not have to be difficult. The main purpose of a semicolon is to join two complete and similar sentences. When two thoughts are tied strongly to one another, you may find a period too great a separation. Using a semicolon visibly increases the link between these thoughts. Our rule with semicolons then becomes as follows: If you can use a period, you can use a semicolon. This does not mean that you should abolish periods from your work. In early March of 1951, the case United States v Julius Rosenberg, Ethel Rosenberg, and Morton Sobell argued whether the Rosenbergs planned execution should forgo or be rescinded for violating the Espionage Act of 1917 and being guilty of starting the Korean War. In the late 1940 s and early 1950 s the Cold War was ongoing, with the United States and the Soviet Union entrenched in an ongoing battle over the supremacy of the west. Paul Frazier, an author for the Magazine of History in Bloomington states, One of the most intriguing aspects of the Cold War relationship between the Americans and the Soviets was the development of vast networks of spies and counterspies (Frazier). The United States and the Soviet s relationship establishes an early conflict between the two nations, further affecting future diplomatic relations. Julius Rosenberg s sympathy towards the Soviets and anger towards the United State s current position on the world s economic stage ultimately led to his act of traitorous espionage. Michael Browning, a writer for the Palm Beach Post newspaper states, What united the Rosenbergs was a belief in communism, strengthened by the Depression and Russia s fight against Hitler during World War 2 , (Browning). The United States depression and Julius s admiration for Russia s fight against Hitler motivated him to turn against his home nation during a time of crisis. To conclude, Cold War tensions and Julius s appreciation for Soviet life and government illustrates ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Conformity is a negative thing because the Holocaust, Tessie Hutchinson was stoned to death, and the mere presence of friends influences risk taking, and all three of these examples start with the same thing, Conformity. First of all, The Holocaust started when a large group of German soldiers had conformed to their leader, Hitler, and continuously followed orders to the dot, mostly out of fear of being executed. She summarizes herself in the preface of the text. She states that she is so physically small, so temperamentally unobtrusive, and so neurotically inarticulate (xiv). She tells readers that she avoids situations where she has to talk to press agents and or make telephone calls. It is quite obvious that Didion considers herself shy, bland, and anxious (xiv). Readers know that she grew up with a mother, father, and small brother and lived in Colorado Springs at the age of eight, and now that she is older, her family resides in the Central Valley of California (29, 164). Description of the Business Activity and Business Activity Mission Statement: To educate the kids from Ngatea Primary School about a healthy lifestyle including healthy eating, exercise and a balanced lifestyle. Company Description: This year as a part of the Hauraki Plains College Year 12 Business Studies, we are creating and conducting a business that aims at targeting young people and their wellbeing. We intend to educate the younger generation about healthy eating, and being active to promote healthy habits in the younger generation, which can be carried through later into their life. Our aim is to conduct a classroom lesson with a practical element to a selected syndicate along with lunch orders for the entire school. Our aim is to teach the students about healthy lifestyles, and how you don t have to be strict and treat your body badly to be healthy. By doing this we also hope to educate kids early about the risks of obesity on all aspects of their lifestyle. It benefits the students as they come out with a bit more knowledge on these problems which affect our youth. The kids will come out aware of healthy and unhealthy food choices and how it is negative overall, with no benefits. An outline for the theoretical lesson will include a powerpoint with facts and important information on the topic, that we hope will be easy to understand, but makes the kids understand how much sugar we consume on a daily basis. Conclusion: In conclusion, my graph shows how the average rate of movement of the porcellio scaber moved slower at lower temperatures (at 5°C, the average rate of movement was 0.2cm/second) and increased movement as the temperature got higher (at 25°C, the average rate of movement was 0.5cm/second). My hypothesis was partially correct as the porcellio scabers did move slower at lower temperatures and moved faster as the temperature increased. But, the porcellio scabers did not move slower at their optimum range of 15°C. This may have been because of the temperature in the classroom at the time when I was doing my experiments. For example, when doing my experiment at 15°C, the temperature in the classroom was 24°C. This factor may have affected my results as the temperature in the room has affected the temperature being tested on the porcellio scaber. Discussion: This investigation was carried out to determine if the rate of movement of porcellio scabers changed when it was placed in different temperatures and therefore if the temperature affected their ecological niche. My graph is slightly different compared to the Rosehill College s practical investigation of porcellio scabers graph, found under the biology section on the Rosehill College webpage. The Rosehill College porcellio scaber graph from 5°C to 15°C decreased in average rate of movement and from 15°C to 25°C, it increased in average rate of movement. What was Paul s response to the 1st century circumcision controversy? What were the characteristic features (beliefs practices) of Gnostic Christianity? And in your judgment, can either viewpoint (or both) be considered orthodox over against the other? Throughout the early history of Christianity, disputes broke out over mosaic law, particularly in the mid first century when the issue of circumcision, cutting off the foreskin of a man s penis, was a heavily debated and a recurring issue among different churches and members of the church. Many Christians believed that following the mosaic law, which included the act of circumcision, was no longer required for salvation as having faith and accepting Jesus as the messiah would be enough. Others, on the other hand, believed that requirements set forth in the mosaic law were still necessary to be saved. These people were negatively branded with the name Judaizers (those who believed that all Christians should follow the Law of Moses), and were often criticized for being discriminatory and elitist. A meeting was then held to discuss the whether the application of the mosaic law to new members of the Christian community, particularly focusing on if those trying to convert, were obliged undergo circumcision to be accepted into, and become part of, the Christian community. If you would ask me, Human nature is probably one of the most terrifying things of this Earth. Nevertheless, you can t stand but to love humanism and the persona of one s being. Pinocchio, a classic film directed by Norman Ferguson, reminds us how it is to be vulnerable, fragile, and human. Through the linear progression of choice and opposition, Pinocchio s wooden heart has to learn the acrimonious trial of human temptation and deviance in order to become a real boy. Thus creating the theme, you must go through trial, turbulation and experiences in order to truly appreciate humanity and others. In the beginning, just as many films begin, we open the story. This simple action helps the audience literally envision the beginning, the opening, the first page of a story. This makes the film more personable, as if we were reading the book with a family member before going to bed. In the timeline, we would call this the exposition in which happiness and no opposing forces have occurred yet. Pinocchio is still a wooden puppet and we are introduced to the characters of the film. History gives no valid claim to any piece of land; someone else was always there earlier. This gives reason that the Arabs and Israelis are not fighting about religion due to the fact that they are not trying to promote their faith. Many religions peoplehood are rooted in the Holy Land, such as Judaism and Christianity. The ancient Hebrews were almost continually at war and were conquered by Assyria, Persia, Alexander the Great, and Rome. The Jews became a dispersed people but preserved a sense of their nationhood through the books of the Bible. Over time many of the Jews were converted; whether it was forced or voluntary, they assimilated into local life. Jews became so intertwined in the lives of people all around the world. The Jews had a psychological connection to the land rather than a blood connection. This allowed the Jews to spread spatially while still developing a strong connection to God. The peaceful spread of Jews, though, caused religious carnages and expulsions. The Enlightenment of the eighteenth century brought back religious intolerance and brought Jews out of the ghetto and into citizenship in West Europe. Greek mythology was heavily borrowed upon by the Roman and prominent members of the Roman society wanted to be commemorated in the fashion of Greek heroes. The Romans took the general principles of an Egyptian sarcophagus and added Greek mythology to create a unique piece of Roman art and The Sarcophagus Depicting a Battle between Soldiers and Amazons (Warrior Women) is one such example. The Egyptians were the first to use a sarcophagus to bury and commemorate their dead, and judging from the war themed artwork on this Roman sarcophagus, it was most likely built to commemorate the death of a great warrior. The Sarcophagus Depicting a Battle between Soldiers and Amazons (Warrior Women) is a massive piece of Roman funerary art made of a hollowed out block of white marble around 140 170 CE. Weighing an impressive 5511.5 pounds, the sarcophagus is 40 ½ x 91 ½ x 50 ½ inches in dimension and is comprised of a lid and casket (The Museum of Fine Arts). The identity of the sculptor is unknown, and considering the careful attention detail on this impressive work of art, it is possible that crafting the sarcophagus was the work of multiple sculptors. Ignatius believed himself to be a beacon of morality in an otherwise dismal society. For instance, throughout A Confederacy of Dunces, he would write about the evils of the hedonistic, bourgeois society in which he lived, and about how the world would be in a much better position if based on the medieval principles (such as divine right and cruel forms of torture) in which he subscribed were put in place. This point can be highlighted through Elie s diminishing concern for his father. Though he often tried to keep himself and his father alive at the start of their time in the internment camps, Wiesel slowly lost this concern (in fact, he started to hate his father for being a burden) with time and with the realization of his need to act on instinct in order to survive. Students who have carelessly taken out loans and those in serious need of financial aid for their college education are now burdened with thousands of dollars worth of debt. As the student debt average continues to increase in our nation, the budgets of postgraduates begin to dwindle and the amount of defaults grow dramatically.
