2. In this movie trailer it is pretty clear that the theme is mystery/ drama with a
slight bit of romance being portrayed from Quentin "Q" Jacobsen played by
Nat Wolfe towards his new neighbour Margo Roth Spiegelman played by Cara
Delevingne. The mystery and drama stems from the past childhood of when
they found a corpse of a neighbour, this then leads into the mystery of the
present time when Margo doesn’t turn up to school one day and it is down to
him and his few friends to find her.
3. This film turns out to be a typical American High school film, where the nerd
falls in love with the popular girl but he has to go to all depths to figure out
his love for her. From this film being an American High School film we can
guess that the two main characters fall for each other at the end due to what
we are shown in the trailer.
4. The beginning of the film starts with a flashback to when ‘Q’ first saw Margo
moving into her new house as a young girl, we know this is a flashback scene
from the voice over that ‘Q’ is saying how it was a miracle that he was living
across the street from Margo. From this moment we know that ‘Q’ adores
Margo from the way that he looks at her and describes her. This flashback
helps the audience come to terms with the sort of characters that they are
dealing with and it also helps us understand the mystery behind the storyline.
5. The storyline also resembles a teenagers’ life as it involves relationships,
mystery, rebellion, friendships, popularity with in school. These themes are
seen within the three main themes; mystery, drama and love.
