• The main theme of Kanthapura is the struggle for freedom in India
.
Theme:
•Kanthapura is Gandhian novel. The impact of Mahatma Gandhi’s
principals is very brilliantly exhibited in this novel by Raja Rao.
•The action takes place in a small village named Kanthapura in the
province of Mysore state.
•Murthy, the central character of the novel is seen as a Gandhi, who
completely follows Gandhi’s principles of non violence and equality.

4.  Kanthapura is the image of all villages
in India, under the influence of Gandhian
principles.
 In this novel we also find the problem
of untouchably, poverty, sexual exploitation
