  4. What does this mean? Well – if you think of a typical experimental workflow – there are specific units of information that needs specific standardization tasks. Experimental metadata annotation – produced data and metadata – derived data after analytical routines

  6. When standards are already out there for a specific unit of information – no need to reinvent the wheel – CMSO adopts the standard!
  7. When a standard is needed because the unit of information is cell migration-specific – CMSO develops the standard
  8. So just to give you an example: cell tracking files – with a generic computational pipeline we can produce objects, links, and in theory reverse engineer tracks from the first two. In the process of tracking, events like splitting can happen.
  9. What do we want to do? We aim to have a uniform, standardized way to represent these cell tracking data. So we have opted for a fairly simple format, based on the Data Package specification, where the data (objects, links and tracks) are represented in tabular formats in csv files, while metadata and schema annotations are stored in a JSON file that accompany the csv files.
