Formative Assesssment
• Two way process between teacher and student.
• Should occur regularly throughout the instructional
  process.
• Adapt and change teaching and learning activities to
  meet student needs.
• Low-stakes assessments.
• Assessment for learning.

Examples: minute paper, polling, think-pair-share

Summative Assessment
• Summarizes the development of learners at a
  particular time.
• Evaluates relative to the student learning
  outcomes and course goals.
• Work well with rubrics and checklists.
• High-stakes assessments.
