Greeting(I hope you all are well and we are grateful that you took the time out to join us).Purpose of the Orientation: Orientations are great for informing parents and students about what to expect from us and what we expect from them. Today we will discuss the objective of our program, what your child will learn and some ground rules in order to make this is a fun learning experience for everyone.
Welcome to Al Huda weekend school session 2013 – 2014.
Our collective goal is: to enrich our children with the knowledge of Islam and how they can implement this knowledge in this life. It is very import we instill these values in our children because they are the future Ummah. InshaAllah,Together we can.Our collective effort: The full potential of the child will only be reached if there is an effort on three levels. Student, teacher and parent. If any one of these is lacking, this will cause harm to the learning of the child. Parents are expected to sit with their child at home and help them practice their lesson.
Some subjects that the child will learn while he/she is at Al Huda
First and foremost we have Quran:Rasool Allah (SAW) said, ( Khairakum min Ta’alamul Quran waAllamahu ) The best of you is he who learns the Quran and teaches it.Quran will remain the base of our curriculum and it is something that we will enforce the most throughout the year.
Within Quran, the child will learn tafseer of selected verses. Tafseerwill give them deeper understanding and context of the Quran and how it should be an important part of our lives. The goal is to enlighten the child with examples and stories from the Quran.
The child will learn tajweed, which is recitation of Quran with proper pronunciation and rules.
The program is too short for the memorization of the entire Quran but the child will memorize selected verses and surahs with proper tajweed under the guidance and supervision of the teacher.
In Quran Allah(Swt) says:﴿لَقَدْ جَآءَكُمْ رَسُولٌ مِّنْ أَنفُسِكُمْ عَزِيزٌ عَلَيْهِ مَا عَنِتُّمْ حَرِيصٌ عَلَيْكُمْ بِالْمُؤْمِنِينَ رَءُوفٌ رَّحِيمٌ ﴾ Verily, there has come unto you a Messenger from among yourselves. It grieves him that you should receive any injury or difficulty. He is eager for you; for the believers he is﴾ full of pity, kind, and merciful.)﴿لَّقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فِى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ Indeed in the Messenger of Allah you have a good example to follow for him The child will learn seerah which will also incorporatehadith – sayings & actions of Prophet Muhammad (SAW)
OnceUmar Bin Al Khattab said to Rasool Allah(SAW) while holding his hand,” YaRasoolAllah (SAW)! You are dearer to me than everything except my own self” The Prophet (Saw) said, “No by Him in whose hand my soul is, you will not have complete faith till I am dearer to you than your own self.” Then Umar (RA) said to him, “However, now by Allah”Thegoal is to build love and compassion towards Prophet Muhammad(SAW) and learn of the hardships he went through to bring this deen to us.Children will take examples from his life and learn about the values that he encouraged.
Prophet (SAW) said, Ad dua-oohuwalIbada “Dua is Ibada” And he also said, There is nothing that is more honourable or dearer to Allah (SWT) than Duaa.Children will learn duas for their daily routine, salah (prayer) and other occassions. They will learn the meaning and context of these duas and memorize them as well.
Children will be encouraged to make the duas they learn a part of their lives. They will be taught about the benefits and reward for reciting these duas
وَإِنَّكَ لَعَلَى خُلُقٍ عَظِيمٍ And verily, you are on an exalted character.) Alongwith all these subjects, children will be constantly reminded about the importance of manners and a good attitude. Our goal is to instill strong societal values in the children and emphasize on the importance of giving respect to others.
A few important rules and the child and parent should be mindful of.
We cannot emphasize enough how important attendance is. We only meet your child twice a week, and much is covered in one day. To avoid falling behind, please ensure that the child is a regular attendee in the class. As for late arrivals, they are highly discouraged, as they disturb the flow of the class. If child will come late, the whole class loses focus as they watch the late arriver settle down etc.
The classes will start at 10:00AM, all students coming in after 10:05AM will be marked late and this will find itself on the report cards. Please do not make a habit of coming late to the class. Punctuality is a very important principle.
Teachers may not be able to take out the time to individually help children catch up. Children must keep phone numbers or email addresses of fellow students and try to catch up on their own if there is a dire need to be absent.
At the end of each term we hold exams. We do not allow make up of exams unless it is a serious illness where a doctor’s note should be provided, or a death in the family.

Boys are expected to wear white shirts and black pants, while girls are to wear a PLAIN white hijab and black abaya.
