Design Thinking & Innovation Games : Presented by Cedric MainguyoGuild .
Accelerate Innovation: Learn why it matters and how it’s done.
Design Thinking can be used to design products, user experiences, corporate strategy or public services… Innovation Games, whose primary intent is not pure entertainment, can be applied to a broad spectrum of areas like training, hiring, generating new ideas, gathering feedback about a product or change management… The list goes on.
An increasing number of organizations have realized the enormous potential of human-centered and playful approach to innovation design and development. The growing success of Agile methods, which put a strong emphasis on people interactions, on fun and on building a creativity-friendly environment, have made Design Thinking and Innovation Games even more popular.
Innovation Capability for Sustainable Competitive AdvantagesSeta Wicaksana
Innovation is perennially at the top of CEO agendas, yet many executives continue to be frustrated with their transformation programs' hit-or-miss pace and results. The problem isn’t usually a lack of good ideas. Initiatives take too long, non-strategic projects get greenlighted at the expense of game changers, and dynamic ideas remain captive in the heads of employees.
Innovation contributes to competitive advantage for companies and therefore many researchers have sought to understand how to strengthen the company’s capability to innovate, as this makes enterprises more competitive and perform better financially (Henderson & Clark, 1990).
What’s missing is a system of enablers that work together to support innovation. Our experience with industry leaders shows that when the right people, processes, and metrics come together in a “growth factory,” they can transform how innovation happens, galvanize employees’ creativity, and create long-term competitive advantage.
Innovation is not inherently unpredictable and does not require a heavy dose of serendipity to succeed. When companies take a systems approach, they can pursue innovation in a way that reliably generates repeatable results.
This talk was delivered on 15th September (Engineers Day) at BML Munjal University. It covers differences between invention, innovation, entrepreneurship, and startup. It discussed innovation landscape, types of innovation, and three important types of innovation in today's world. Innovator's method and innovators skills are also provided.
In Entrepreneurship section, who are entrepreneurs, types of entrepreneurs, entrepreneurial mindset and effectual thinking are discussed. Future of organization is discussed briefly along with why its necessary to learn entrepreneurship. Idea to launch (#flow_with_ramesh), why startup fails (#flow_with_ramesh), are you a startup kid? (#flow_with_ramesh) And challenges of entrepreneurship are discussed. In the end, what three interesting things you can do from learning, mentors, and work is discussed. Lastly, I describe my experiences with innovation and entrepreneurship is discussed.

Some years ago, Eric Ries, Steve Blank and others initiated The Lean Startup movement. The Lean Startup is a movement, an inspiration, a set of principles and practices that any entrepreneur initiating a startup would be well advised to follow.
Projecting myself into it, I think that if I had read Ries' book before, or even better Blank's book, I would maybe own my own company today, around AirXCell or another product, instead of being disgusted and honestly not considering it for the near future.
In addition to giving a pretty important set of principles when it comes to creating and running a startup, The Lean Startup also implies an extended set of Engineering practices, especially software engineering practices.

Introduction
Innovation mainly happens with the help of technology. It is through innovation that man people comes up with new ideas and solutions to problems we face in our day to day lives. Technology is a branch of knowledge that brings about innovation due to the evolution of technology. Technology involves the methods, skills, and processes together with techniques required in production and scientific investigations. Technology is considered to be broad and fits in categories of communication and information, computer science, and computer engineering among others. The above categories are subject to improvements or disruption by humans at any time. The manipulation of technology goes through a process called innovation. Technology is applicable in many fields such as mathematics, historical knowledge, scientific engineering, transport and linguistics, business, and environmental conservation practices among others. Comment by Dr. H: This is self-referencial. It like telling technology helps technology grow Comment by Dr. H: Where did you find this definition? Comment by Dr. H: Do you mean it grows through innovations Comment by Dr. H: What do you mean by this? Comment by Dr. H: Is there engineering that is not scientific Comment by Dr. H: There is no citation support in this paragraph. Please note that unless you support with citations from peer-reviewed research journal or government sources your material is considered an opinion piece and as such it is not appropriate for research writing. This is a serious issue and you need to address it throughout as it greatly impacts your grade
Innovation involves the creation and application of new ideas, thoughts or solutions in the day-to-day problems, expectations, and needs. For the idea to qualify to be an innovation, it should satisfy a particular need and at a cost. The ideas are converted into useful products. Innovation takes place to provide more effective and efficient products, services, processes, and technologies. These are made available for sale in the markets, society, or the government. Innovations are classified into two major categories: Comment by Dr. H: Whose problems, expectations and needs? Comment by Dr. H: According to whom?
· Evolutionary innovations also called continuous evolutionary innovation which is as a result of gradual improvements in technology and,
· Revolutionary innovations also known as discontinuous innovations. There are often disruptive and new.
Innovation is crucial in any organization and it presents the need to create a department and a manager for the same. It will require a deeper understanding of the consumer needs before undertaking th.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

2. With a discovery or invention happening
every day, the chances of not landing on an
already used idea are pretty unlikely. People
make as many efforts as possible to build a
product, service, or solution that is
distinctive. Nonetheless, the task of
innovation can be tough to achieve, and
companies have to turn towards the
employees of their entire company and
sometimes external sources too. The term
used for such a phenomenon is Open
Innovation.
3. Open Innovations can be defined as a
business practice where the organization
sources ideas from internal sources, i.e.,
employees, friendly rival companies,
partners, suppliers, and external
stakeholders. These innovative ideas are
acquired for many reasons like building a
new product, building a new service,
resolving a problem, etc.
What is Open Innovation
4. A writer introduced the concept of open
innovation in the 2000s. He defined open
innovations as an inflow and outflow of
knowledge for internal innovation and
external use of innovation. The idea
popularized over the years, and all
industries have adopted this practice.
According to a survey, 91% of
marketers manage organization-wide
innovation as innovation is one of the most
vital marketing strategies.
5. Open Innovations can be categorized as
per the type of human resource
inclusion:
• Intercompany (corporate accelerator)
• Intracompany
• Experts of the Industry
• Open to Public
6. Many companies have used open
innovations to gain information for new
products, market their product, and
leverage their product with customer
feedback. Here are some examples of
open innovation used by multinational
companies across the globe:
Examples of Open Innovation
7. Samsung implemented open innovation
through intercompany programs. The
Samsung Accelerator Program brought
entrepreneurs, innovators, designers, and
experts together. These individuals were
given office spaces and resources to develop
new and innovative ideas.
With this initiative, Samsung tried to open
several open innovations like mergers,
partnerships, venture capital funding.
Samsung
8. NASA collaborated with Harvard
Business School, London Business
School, and Top Coders to create a
mathematical algorithm for medical kits
that were to be taken in space. Around
2833 codes were created with this
initiative. Winners were rewarded with
money prizes and were allowed to view
the shuttle mission launches.
NASA
9. GE has used open innovation in various
initiatives. GE Open Innovations is used to
address world problems. Open Innovation
Manifesto connects experts and
entrepreneurs to discuss and solve the
required problem.
Another open innovations project of GE is
First Build, where both internal and external
sources come together to share ideas and
create new home appliance products.
GE
10. Philips developed an R&D ecosystem
back in 1998 on the theory of open
innovation. The ecosystem is now known
as High Tech Campus Eindhoven. Over
200 entrepreneurs and product
developers come together to create new
ventures; these ventures help solve world
problems like climate change,
overpopulation, etc.
