11. Writing & Language
All writing should reflect 6+1 writing traits: ideas, sentence fluency,
organization, word choice, voice, conventions, and presentation
Spelling homework and tests will alternate with vocabulary
homework and tests. Usually homework will not be sent on short
weeks.
Vocabulary will often come from science concepts.
STAAR test in writing will be given at the end of March
students will write one narrative and one expository piece
students will also have to answer multiple choice style questions over
revising and editing

Investigations are hard to make up- please have
students in class as much as possible
Blog using Edmodo- to help with vocabulary and
expository writing.
Vocabulary is critical!! Please study vocabulary with
your child when it comes home.
