Mrs. Cynthia Billey
National Adoption Day
Event Coordinator
3333 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 550
Los Angeles, CA 90010
Dear Cynthia Billey,
Strongly believing in the power of sharing, I am honored to present
your organization an event to raise awareness and fostering open
adoptions. I have developed some ideas that will let future moms and
prospecting parents to meet and know each other to create a strong
bond, under the protection of the accredited Florida’s Adoption
Agencies and Florida Adoption Support Groups.

3. Our goal is to raise awareness for some birth-mothers in need, about
the possibility of their child to be adopted by someone who cannot
have children of his own; therefore, since an “open adoption day” has
not been Nationally established yet, we would like to break into the
tradition of the Pregnancy awareness month and create a real
connection between some expecting women and the communities
across the Miami- Dade county to support them.
3
4. 4
By definition, adoption is the legal act of
permanently placing a child with someone
other than the child's biological parents.
"Open adoption includes the birthparents
and adoptive parents meeting one another,
sharing full identifying information, and
having direct access to ongoing contact over
the years." (Silber & Dorner, Children of
Open Adoption, Corona Publishing, San
Antonio, TX, 1990).

5. Event Goal
To create an informal and warming ambiance that will accommodate a
maximum of 200 future moms and adopting parents.
The event concept means to inform pregnant, low-income, young
college women, in struggle with money, age, mental illness, or bad
living conditions, about considering open adoption for their expecting
babies.
5
6. Event Goal
Expectant birth moms and birth parents are invited for a late afternoon
party sponsored by the Florida Department of Children and Families
and dedicated to know each other to create enlarged, forever families.
Ten adoptive families and mothers who resorted to open adoption will
be testimonials for the importance of a choice not easy, but successful.

7. Event date and location:
