This year, World Environment Day 2022 will be hosted by
Sweden. "Only One Earth" is the campaign slogan that
focuses on "Living Sustainably in Harmony with Nature."
The Government of Sweden will host the World Environment
Day 2022 programmers and activities in partnership with the
UN Environment Programmed (UNRP).

3. Where did #OnlyOneEarth come from?
“Only One Earth” was the slogan for the first United Nations
Conference on the Human Environment, held in Stockholm in
1972. This put sustainable development on the global agenda
and led to the establishment of World Environment Day. Fifty
years later, Sweden is hosting Stockholm+50 from 2 to 3 June,
and World Environment Day on 5 June.

4. 1.The celebration of World Environment Day helps us reconnect with the
environment or nature in general. We tend to forget how much natural systems
support our well-being. But we're part of nature and we depend on it. Go out
and enjoy your country's national parks, and celebrate the vital relationship.
2. This day helps us understand the need to sustainably manage our planet's
resources and ecosystems. It provides us an opportunity to raise awareness that
the physical environment is fragile and indispensable.
3. The environment suffers immense pollution with contaminants and toxins,
which have a harmful impact on our health. They cause respiratory diseases
and types of CANCER. World Environment Day inspires us to do something
about these problems and aim to fix the environment without which we won't
be able to survive.
WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY 2022: SIGNIFICANCE

5. WHY IT IS INEVITABLE FOR ALL ?
Time is running out, and nature is in emergency mode. To keep
global warming below 1.5°C this century, we must halve annual
greenhouse gas emissions by 2030. Without action, exposure to
air pollution beyond safe guidelines will increase by 50 per cent
within the decade and plastic waste flowing into aquatic
ecosystems will nearly triple by 2040.
We need urgent action to address these pressing issues, making
“Only One Earth” and its focus on living sustainably in harmony
with nature, as pertinent as ever.

6. The goal of the day is to raise environmental
awareness and motivate people to take actions.
World Environment Day has served as a forum
for spreading environmental awareness about
issues such as marine pollution,
overpopulation, global warming, sustainable
consumerism, and wildlife crime.
Sustainable living should not merely be a
practice; it should be a way of life now, while
the first duty we have as humans is to coexist in
the ecosystem and not destroy it.
