The focus on our case study is an ESF funded (2015-2018) project called Olopiste, which is a non-threshold support action for the long-term unemployed and socially excluded people. The project’s objectivities are to strengthen the participants’ ability to partake in society’s normal activities as well as to strengthen their working ability and well-being through support and provided activities. One of the project's sub-objectives is to create a new kind of authentic learning environment for Bachelor of Social Work students. Clients at Olopiste are offered both individual and group activities. Bachelor of Social Services students implement these activities in conjunction with the Olopiste project team. The partners in this project are Harjula Settlement Assoc, Lahti University of Applied Sciences and SylviaKoti Assoc/Kaupunkikylä. Olopiste is situated at the Harjula Settlement premises in Lahti.
