I. Background of the Company / Company Profile
The Professional Regulation Commission otherwise known as the PRC, It is
a three-man commission attached to Department of Labor and Employment
(DOLE).
It’s mandated is to regulate and supervise the practice of the
professionals (except for the lawyers who handled by the Supreme Court of the
Philippines) who constitute the highly skilled manpower of the country. As
agency-in-charge of the professional sector, the PRC plays a strategic role in
developing the corps of professionals for industry, commerce, governance, and
the economy.
II. Practicum Program
The following are the function and responsibilities given to us as interns by
our Supervisors:
Records Section – Assisting client with their needs. Preparing those
documents like for their board of ratings certificate, board of passing certificate
and also to process their papers going to Department of Foreign Affairs Manila
for red ribbon purposes if they want to apply abroad.
Administration Division – Recounting new receipts and taping it to count
and audit it, documenting the new payments in that day. And also processing
new payments to logging it, Auditing from the official receipts to log booked and
to verify the accounts and records, especially of financial accounts.
III. Technical and Soft Skills Learned
From the first day that I came to Professional Regulation Commission
Regional Office (PRC) I have learned to listen first before you react or before you
do the task given to you. For example, in my first day in PRC my supervisor teach
me how I entertain our clients, first you should smile and greet them like good
morning ma’am/sir then ask them what they need. From then you will know now
what their need. From that day I have realized that as an intern is not easy
maybe because I’m still a student knowing new experience but then I suddenly
enjoyed every moment in the office or in our work place. In the beginning it is
hard to communicate with other people in the work place because you don’t
know what they are but then I have tried to talk to them and make friends and
until now we are still friends.
Securing payments online and also auditing it. Auditing from the official
receipts to log booked and to verify the accounts and records, especially of
financial accounts
Our supervisor also thought us on how to repair computer desktops and
laptops. Especially for the computers that won’t open. Rebooting and installing
new operating system. Configuring every computers to have their internet
connections.
During the Oath taking ceremony of the new professional teachers last
July 07, 2018. They ask as to be the IT technical support and also as a staff.
Where in, some of the IT staff will assist them during this ceremony. As an IT
technical support it involves assuring that the presentation of the speaker is well
presented until the end.
IV. Recommendations for further improvement of the Company’s Internship
Program.
As intern one of the good recommendations is that if the IT employees of
the government will have a seminar that involves technology. It would be a
good opportunity for you to be with. Ask them if you can joined that seminar and
also tell them that you are interested for them to think that you’re very interested.
V. Advise to future interns
I advise to the future intern in Professional Regulation Commission you
should be:
- Prepare yourself always.
- Do your best as you can.
- Always wear your smile.
- There are so many clients who don’t know how to follow
instructions.
- Don’t tell you secrets with your officemates or else you will be
the center of attraction in the next day or week.
- Just enjoy every moment.
Note:
** NOTE that your output will be a basis of your class standing for your final grade.
Observe proper format. Check your grammar and spelling. Expound on your
sentences and be accurate. Attach relevant documents if necessary.
