series of essays in which a journalist and an economist work collectively to find, by
applying everyday economic principles, how the world truly works, which reveals
some fascinating truths about the world. Some background history of the authors,
Steven D. Levitt interviewed Stephen J. Dubnerfor New York Times Magazine and
this is where they initially met and became good friends. With them having similar
ideals about the world in an economic lens, they decided to write this book for other

Comments and personal opinions
When showing scenes of Derek s life before prison, it is in black and white, no
colours. This is brilliant, it is easy to follow the progress in the film, and to figure out
what is past and what is present. This could have developed in to a lot of sentimental
talk and massive clishГЁs, but fortunately the director manages to avoid that trap.

Danny is the narrator in the film, he tells the story of Derek s life while writing the
essay about him. This is an interesting way of telling a story, makes it very alive .

It is completely understandable for the wife to jokingly promise to marry Aurelius if
he was able to move all the rocks on the coast of Brittany. Honestly, who would have
expected that to actually happen? It continues to show how deep the couple s love is,

One s judgement of others is a commonality amongst all people; however, to admit
one is wrong about one s perceptions is infrequent. In both essays, The Estrangement
by Jamaica Kincaid, and My Speech at West Point by Marjane Satrapi in the book
The Writer s Presence, the writers make comment on their life experiences
particularly about their bad judgment of others and the impact that has had on them.
Kincaid s essay is about the rough relationship she had with her mother and how her
criticism of her changed after her experience as a mother. Similarly, Satrapi writes
about the pointin her life she began learning one she realizes that the view she had of
the people in her country was wrong during her time at West Point. Both provide...
Nevertheless, she accepts her mistake and learns from her experience by
acknowledging it, I don t know anything (Kincaid 249). Ultimately, Satrapi conveys

her mother, said horrible things to us more often than not and that the nice person

about the time his step father was buried next to her mother and her uncertainty of

One might think that this experiment will stimulate the new research in the area of
human obedience, but this did not occur. Despite the difficulties and the courage of
Burger to conduct a partial replication of the original study, it did not produce any
different outcomes and did not spark any new ideas in psychology (Burger, 2009).
Instead, the researcher had to deal with an enormous amount of different
commentaries and controversy. My main rationale for disapproving the Burger s
study is ethical characteristics of the Milgram paradigm. More specifically, now we

However, Milgram s paradigm clearly challenges these fundamental rights and
