Big Data: Infrastructure Implications for “The Enterprise of Things” - Stampe...StampedeCon
At StampedeCon 2014, Jean-Luc Chatelain (DDN) presented 'Big Data: Infrastructure Implications for “The Enterprise of Things”.'
The amount of data in our world has been exploding, and storing and analyzing large data sets—so-called big data—will become a key basis of competition for the new “Enterprise of Things”, underpinning fresh waves of productivity growth, innovation, and consumer surplus. Leaders in every sector – from government to healthcare to finance – will have to grapple with the implications of big data, as data growth continues unabated for the foreseeable future. The quest to make sense of all this big data begins with breaking down data silos within organizations using the cost appropriate, shared infrastructure to ensure optimal extraction and analysis of data, knowledge and insight.
As the leading global e-commerce service, PayPal has transformed the way the company leverages big data storage and hyper-scale analytics to help improve both the safety and purchasing experiences of its online customers. In this discussion, using real-world customer examples such as PayPal, we will explore what Big Data Storage is from high performance file sharing to long-term archiving, as well as ways to break down data silos to reduce the cost and storage complexity of managing demanding workflows and data environments. We will demonstrate how hyperscale storage can enable near-real-time, stream analytics processing for behavioral and situational modeling, as well as for fraud detection, marketing and systems intelligence. We will ask what the greatest barriers to effective business analytics are and how today’s data analytics platforms, including Hadoop, Vertica, Python and Java, can be optimized to enable machine learning, event streaming, forecasting, and reduce overhead associated with human intervention. You’ll come away from this session understanding the infrastructure implications and options for organizations looking to maximize their big data for competitive advantage.
From the Promise of Spatial Computing to Actual Delivery of Real Solutions Michael Hoffman
Michael Hoffman, a former Microsoft HoloLens developer, discusses the promise and challenges of spatial computing. His company, Object Theory, has developed an enterprise spatial computing platform called Prism to enable use cases like collaboration, training, remote assistance, and design review by addressing issues like hardware limitations, software tools, and standards. Prism allows for integrated multi-use solutions, cloud management, and supports both augmented and virtual reality experiences.
This document discusses the business drivers and opportunities for cloud computing. It notes that CIOs are looking to cut costs and IT budgets while still driving business value. Cloud computing allows companies to leverage past IT investments and maintain security while increasing access. The cloud is seen as a way to reduce costs and gain a competitive edge. The document also summarizes analyst predictions of strong growth in cloud computing spending and adoption between now and 2012. It outlines opportunities for partners in building applications for the Windows Azure platform and migrating existing applications and customers to the cloud.

With the rapid growth in data and move towards data commercialisation there are multiple aspects to focus on and prioritize the steps being taken across an enterprise. Enterprises face many challenges when it comes to truly becoming a data driven organization and realize the full potential of data. Some of those challenges include data availability, capacity to process, store and analyze this data, sharing the models and data artefacts across different teams etc. Most of these challenges could be handled through a platform which is Cloud based, scalable, and offers different capabilities for Governance, security, reusability and their likes. In this talk, I will talk about how IBM Cloud Pak serves as a framework for implementing your AI Strategy and how it could be used to build different artefacts while adhering to above listed requirements and being future ready. We will further illustrate how Cloud Pak for Data fastens and shortens the route to data commercialisation?
Under eventet berördes följande punkter:
- Big Data och Business Intelligence (BI)
- “The Google Big Data tools” – framgångsfaktorer och hur man kommer igång
- Google Cloud Platform och hur man genomför en framgångsrik molnsatsning
Vi presenterade case och berättade om viktiga lärdomar vi dragit i samarbetet med Google och våra kunder.

Digital transformation is impacting business models and acquisitions in three key ways:
1) Business models are becoming more exploratory and focused on shorter cycle times between exploring and exploiting opportunities rather than a specific model.
2) There will likely be fewer acquisitions as companies focus more on building capabilities in-house or borrowing them through partnerships rather than buying.
3) Capabilities developed in one domain, such as online retail, can more easily be applied to new domains due to the computational nature of digital technologies and representation of business models in the digital world.

While the disciplines of business intelligence and discovery certainly overlap, there are key distinctions between the two, both in terms of design point and user interface. While traditionally it is believed different architectures are required to address these differing analytic needs, is that really the case? Or is discovery simply another key capability within an overall BI platform?
Register for this episode of The Briefing Room to learn from veteran Analyst John O'Brien of Radiant Advisors as he outlines best practices for enabling high-quality business intelligence and discovery, and the architectural capabilities to enable both. He'll be briefed by Brad Peters of Birst who will tout his company's cloud BI platform. In particular, Peters will demonstrate how the Birst architecture was especially designed for enterprise-caliber BI and argue for a more inclusive future BI architecture.

Many organizations are realizing the value of managing the end-to-end process of analytics. By securing a strategic view of the information management lifecycle, these companies are enabling true business agility. Analysts can quickly visualize and identify relevant trends; meanwhile, data providers and managers have an open dialogue with their business counterparts, because the whole team can see what's happening where.
Check out this episode of The Briefing Room to learn from veteran Analyst Robin Bloor, who will explain how the concept of an Information Oriented Architecture (IOA) is gaining traction within many data-centric enterprises. He'll be briefed by Brad Peters of Birst, who will tout his company's technology stack, which spans the spectrum of Business Intelligence and Analytics functionality. He'll talk about the value of managing the entire information flow from within the same environment. And he'll explain why the Birst approach enables compelling data integration and visualization, thereby facilitating and enhancing the process of analytics.

This document discusses how open source business intelligence (BI), data integration, and data warehousing solutions are gaining acceptance. It notes that traditional BI solutions can be too expensive and complex for many companies given current economic challenges around shrinking IT budgets and departments. Open source solutions offer a lower-cost alternative and are being adopted by more large and small enterprises. The document examines barriers to and benefits of open source adoption and considers factors for implementing open source components.

LAND USE LAND COVER AND NDVI OF MIRZAPUR DISTRICT, UPRAHUL
This Dissertation explores the particular circumstances of Mirzapur, a region located in the
core of India. Mirzapur, with its varied terrains and abundant biodiversity, offers an optimal
environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the
help of Advanced technologies like Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems is
crucial for coordinated efforts across different administrative levels. Advanced technologies like
Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems

Changes in vegetation cover refer to variations in the distribution, composition, and overall
structure of plant communities across different temporal and spatial scales. These changes can
occur natural.

built upon what we discussed till now.
11. ―Creativity involves breaking out of established patterns in order to look at things in
a different way .‖ – Dr. Edward de Bono
12. Key Challenges
―Most executives, many scientists, and almost all business school graduates believe that if
you analyze data, this will give you new ideas. Unfortunately, this belief is totally wrong. The
mind can only see what it is prepared to see .‖ Edward de Bono
13. OBIEE on Cloud
―Sometimes the situation is only a problem because it is looked at in a certain way.
Looked at in another way, the right course of action may be so obvious that the problem no
longer exists.‖ Edward de Bono

will regularly fail to make critical
decisions because they don't have
access to timely information and the
analysis to do so.
By 2010, 20% of organizations will
have an industry-specific analytic
application delivered via software as
a service (SaaS) as a standard
component of their business
intelligence portfolio.
By 2012, business units will control at
least 40 per cent of the total budget
for BI
