One of the great things about Essbase and Hyperion Planning is how you can design and configure them to fit virtually any analytic reporting need your business has. Well, the same goes for data movement into and within these tools. For our upcoming webinar we will explore several creative options around moving data for Planning and Essbase. We will review Hyperion Planning's "Map to Reporting Application", EPMA's Data Synchronization, FDM, XREF, XWRITE, Partitions, native Load Rules, HFM's Extended Analytics, EAL, and a few other options for Hyperion Planning and Essbase. We will then further explore moving data between other applications and other products like HFM and various reporting solutions. During this webinar you will see several methods demonstrated including:
Planning's Map to Reporting
DATAEXPORT
Load Rules
Partitions
If you have ever thought about using a data movement feature just because it is available we will take a look into why this may not always be the best choice.

Practical tips for migrating SharePoint Customizations to Office 365Haniel Croitoru
When planning a migration of SharePoint on-premises environment to Office 365, the first thing that comes to mind is organizations often focus mainly on their content - all the documents and items stored across their libraries and lists. Of course, why wouldn't they? It's the reason that they started using SharePoint anyways. But in many cases, the SharePoint environment that has been well adopted and his highly use will include some level of customizations to help meet specific business needs. These may include forms and workflows, scheduled timer jobs, custom look and feel, business logic to interface with other line of business solutions, to name a few.
Join me as we take a look at ways to create a SharePoint Online environment that will provide a similar experience for your users. We will look are various technologies, including CSOM Scripting, Microsoft Flow, PowerApps, Forms, LogicApps, and Azure Functions.

Baha Mar's All in Bet on Red: The Story of Integrating Data and Master Data w...Joseph Alaimo Jr
Baha Mar is the Bahamas' newest luxury resort, featuring world class hotels, restaurants, shopping, spas, a golf course, and a casino. Baha Mar has gone all in, betting big on red by adopting a Planning and Budget Cloud Service (PBCS), a Financial Close and Consolidation Cloud Service (FCCS), and an Account Reconciliation Cloud Service (ARCS). Within PBCS, Baha Mar has implemented daily operational reporting (DOR), which captures daily activity across the entire property.
This presentation explores how, and more importantly, why FDMEE (on-premises) was used in favor of cloud data management. It covers the myriad of disparate and highly specialized data sources needed to support loading detailed operational data on a daily basis. It studies the various methodologies used to streamline data integration and enrich the data load cycle.
Additionally, EDMCS and cloud data management were leveraged to reduce duplicate master data maintenance while sharing key findings about this exciting new cloud service.

Getting the Most Out of Hyperion Planning: Predictive Planning: What? When? How?finitsolutions
Oracle continues to improve the features and functionality their core products and Hyperion Planning is no exception. The Predictive Planning feature was released with Hyperion Planning version 11.1.2.2 in 2012 but how many companies have had a chance to implement it yet? Most have been busy upgrading existing applications or building out basic Planning applications. Many companies probably think that implementing another feature will be difficult, costly, and an administrative nightmare. Not so!
During this webinar we will discuss the features of the Predictive Planning module including installation, settings, and using it to make predictions. We will demonstrate in a Planning application the use of the module from building the forms to using them within Excel with the add-in.
Attendees will learn about the module, its features, implementation steps, and how users may use it during a planning cycle without difficulty, great cost, or nightmares for the administrators.

Predictive Planning is an element of Oracle EPM's focus on Intelligent Performance Management, which is automating as much as possible in order to free up humans to do the real thinking. Predictive Planning is advanced statistical forecasting made easy and tightly integrated into EPBCS. It includes methods such as linear regression, exponential smoothing, and seasonality. For each forecast, it tests many different techniques and creates a forecast using the best one. You might use the results as your primary forecast, you might use them as your forecast seed, or you might use them to compare to and validate human-made forecasts. You don’t need a PhD in statistics. In fact, it’s a good way to learn more about statistical forecasting techniques (aka data science).
So how exactly does it work, and how can you use it to improve your forecasts? This presentation provides a quick overview of the statistical techniques and error measures. It identifies some potential use cases from finance, sales, and HR. Finally, it digs into some examples of how to set up and implement the cube. This presentation is intended for EPBCS admins and developers, as well as Finance, Sales, and HR planners who want to improve their forecasting and analytics.
This presentation gives insights, tips, and techniques on using the Oracle EPM Automate tool to automate movement of metadata and data for Hybrid Environments and between Cloud Pods (e.g. Enterprise Planning and Budgeting Cloud Service (EPBCS) and Profitability and Cost Management Cloud Service (PCMCS) applications).

Real-Time Data Warehousing using Oracle Database and OBIEE - Collaborate'11Mark Rittman
Presentation by Stewart Bryson, Rittman Mead, on real-time data warehousing techniques using the Oracle Database and Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition. As delivered at Collaborate'11, Orlando, April 2011.
Obiee 12c: Look under the bonnet and test driveGuillaume Slee
Presentation from the Infratects Top Gun conference in Berlin, 2016. We'll look at the simplified installation, architecture and administration that OBIEE 12c offers and examine the 11g to 12c out-of-place upgrade.
With the launch of OBIEE 11g we can look at some of the key new features in this release. The most obvious changes in OBIEE 11g is around the visual look and feel of the web-based components. Few of the features that we will go through are KPIs and scorecards that are newly introduced and widely used in Oracle BI and KPIs can be manifested as a stand-alone metric or part of a watchlist on a dashboard; and selections that limit the members for a column after aggregation, affecting the display of data in your analysis.
Introduction to OBIEE Metadata
Use of Administration Tool
Concepts of Physical Layer
Concepts of Business Model and Mapping Layer
Concepts of Presentation Layer
Building of these 3 layers
OBIEE Security: It’s a Jungle Out ThereGianni Ceresa
OBIEE developer or administrator, manager, or user - the security of the data displayed as well as the functionality available is the most crucial thing to get right. Whether on OBIEE 11g or 12c, security is all too often the same story: Sounds simple, but many developers underestimate the complexity of a coherent, comprehensive, and successful system-wide security strategy.
Often the final solution is a mix of simple or no security and complex "tactical" solutions (hacks), and each new additional project just adds more chaos.
In this session we will discuss in detail the different security layers of OBIEE (RPD, Presentation Service, and Catalog), and a standard and universal approach will be offered. This solution is able to match most requirements while remaining flexible enough to be extended for the most extreme needs. From the small departmental setup to a full corporate BI solution: a single model to rule them all.
How to Integrate OBIEE and Essbase / EPM Suite (OOW 2012)Mark Rittman
Oracle plans to integrate Oracle Essbase and the EPM product suite with Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition and Oracle Fusion Middleware. So with the latest release of Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition, 11.1.1.6, how do you connect Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition to your Oracle Essbase databases and how well does it handle Oracle Essbase features such as scenario and account dimensions, changing outlines, and unbalanced/parent-child hierarchies? How well do Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition’s ad hoc reporting tools handle Oracle Essbase hierarchies and member selections in the 11.1.1.6 release? Can we still embed Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition dashboards in Oracle Workspaces? Learn the answers in this session.

Data Centers - Striving Within A Narrow Range - Research Report - MCG - May 2...pchutichetpong
M Capital Group (“MCG”) expects to see demand and the changing evolution of supply, facilitated through institutional investment rotation out of offices and into work from home (“WFH”), while the ever-expanding need for data storage as global internet usage expands, with experts predicting 5.3 billion users by 2023. These market factors will be underpinned by technological changes, such as progressing cloud services and edge sites, allowing the industry to see strong expected annual growth of 13% over the next 4 years.
Whilst competitive headwinds remain, represented through the recent second bankruptcy filing of Sungard, which blames “COVID-19 and other macroeconomic trends including delayed customer spending decisions, insourcing and reductions in IT spending, energy inflation and reduction in demand for certain services”, the industry has seen key adjustments, where MCG believes that engineering cost management and technological innovation will be paramount to success.
MCG reports that the more favorable market conditions expected over the next few years, helped by the winding down of pandemic restrictions and a hybrid working environment will be driving market momentum forward. The continuous injection of capital by alternative investment firms, as well as the growing infrastructural investment from cloud service providers and social media companies, whose revenues are expected to grow over 3.6x larger by value in 2026, will likely help propel center provision and innovation. These factors paint a promising picture for the industry players that offset rising input costs and adapt to new technologies.
According to M Capital Group: “Specifically, the long-term cost-saving opportunities available from the rise of remote managing will likely aid value growth for the industry. Through margin optimization and further availability of capital for reinvestment, strong players will maintain their competitive foothold, while weaker players exit the market to balance supply and demand.”
Techniques to optimize the pagerank algorithm usually fall in two categories. One is to try reducing the work per iteration, and the other is to try reducing the number of iterations. These goals are often at odds with one another. Skipping computation on vertices which have already converged has the potential to save iteration time. Skipping in-identical vertices, with the same in-links, helps reduce duplicate computations and thus could help reduce iteration time. Road networks often have chains which can be short-circuited before pagerank computation to improve performance. Final ranks of chain nodes can be easily calculated. This could reduce both the iteration time, and the number of iterations. If a graph has no dangling nodes, pagerank of each strongly connected component can be computed in topological order. This could help reduce the iteration time, no. of iterations, and also enable multi-iteration concurrency in pagerank computation. The combination of all of the above methods is the STICD algorithm. [sticd] For dynamic graphs, unchanged components whose ranks are unaffected can be skipped altogether.

6. OBIEE Querying Essbase
OBIEE as Reporting Tool – Essbase as Data Source
• Basics
o Can OBIEE Pull Data from Essbase and read the dimension structures?
o Can the Data from Essbase be represented in OBIEE graphs and
Dashboards nicely?
• More Advanced
- YES
- YES
• More Advanced
o Can Answers Provide Web Enabled Ad Hoc Analysis with Essbase as the
Data Source?
Drill Down but not up
o Can OBIEE provide good financial Reporting from Essbase?
OBIEE is a relational Query tool so it makes Essbase behave that way too
This means that Ragged Hierarchies aren’t presented optimally
Asynchronous Rows is not supported
- NO
– Kind Of?

are very sharp and offer a rich
User Interface experience. The
Essbase data flows in well.
9. Drilling Down on Columns
Drilling Down on “USA”
By drilling down on the “USA” member the whole flavor of the report changes.
Canada and Mexico are removed and the USA child appears. This is the way a
relational tool works, think of adding parameter to the WHERE section of a SQL
Statement.
10. Drilling Down on Rows
Drilling down on “Digital Video”
Drilling down of the “Digital Video” member doesn’t result in the same
thing that most Essbase Users would expect. Instead we see only the
children of “Digital Video” and the rest of the products no longer appear.
11. Prior to Drill Down
Notice Gen5,Segments
only. The filters are only

Entities.
12. Post Drill Down
Notice all the new segment
columns. The filters now
have a Segments limitation.
Undoing Drill Downs -2
have a Segments limitation.
In order to drill back up we
need to re-launch the
original saved version or
delete all of the “Criteria”
additions the Drill Down
added.
13. OBIEE Can’t Handle
Asynchronous Rows Well
Asynchronous Rows
You can make Asynchronous Rows in OBIEE but you need to use a
CASE statement and that is much more time consuming that what you
can achieve in Hyperion Reports.
$$ per Head uses a
CASE Statement
Could use a CASE for
Gross Rev or OpEx
14. Financial Reporting
Not as flexible as Hyperion Reports
OBIEE is a SQL query tool and it is designed to bring back SQL grids. The grid
above is nice and informative, but it’s not ready to present to senior
management and even putting it in BI Publisher wont get it completely ready.
15. Essbase Querying OBIEE
Essbase on top of OBIEE (rpd as data source)
• Works Like EIS
• Essbase Schema becomes somewhat inflexible• Essbase Schema becomes somewhat inflexible
o Certain Changes can be problematic
• All in all it works pretty well
16. Some Issues
• Lack of ability to do Asynchronous Rows
o If you are an organization that needs Cost Center or Cost Type
and Accounts in the Rows to create a Financial Statement this
can be an issuecan be an issue
• When using RPD as a data source for Essbase Studio you can’t
add a new member without rebuilding the entire schema
• When using Essbase Studio your model should be mature
o Adding levels to a dimension entails full rework
17. Customer Stories
Investment Bank
• Wanted Financial Dashboard
• Project Successful Overall
• End Result was a set of Dashboards that
Mutual Fund
• Wanted OBIEE and BI Publisher
• Lots of problems with BI Publisher
handling the relational data
• End Result was a set of Dashboards that
were highly scripted and static and
launched users into Financial Reports for
any type of ad hoc analysis on the web
• Lots of Scripting in OBIEE
• BI Publisher was determined not to be
capable of handling needed reporting due
to asynchronous row limitation
• Changed course and decided to use
OBIEE rpd as source for Essbase models
• Essbase Cubes built using Essbase
Studio
• Essbase Cubes feed Financial Reports to
deliver information
18. What’s coming
• OBIEE interface is getting major overhaul
o Asynchronous row issue will be resolved by what Oracle is
calling “Dimensional Columns”
o OBIEE will handle Essbase more like Financial Reports doeso OBIEE will handle Essbase more like Financial Reports does
today
• “Custom Group – Results”
• Grid Navigation in what Answers calls a Pivot Table will be much
like the Excel Add-in
