Obesity
Is a serious global issue affecting the health and the
life of people around the world.
Obesity is related to positive energy balance and
accumulation of white adipose tissue.
Adults of 30 years and older with BMI 30 are obese.
Obesity is a chronic medical disease that can lead to
diabetes milletus,
high blood pressure,
cardiovascular disease such as heart disease,
gallstones,
and other chronic illnesses.
How common the obesity is ?
Obesity has been increasing rapidly throughout the
world, and the incidence of obesity nearly doubled
from 1991 to 1998. In 2015, nearly 40% of adults
were obese in the U.S.
Most common causes of obesity
Overeating ( the energy intake is more than the energy expenditure, ghrelin, frequency
of eating)
LowPhysical activity
Genetics
(leptin, leptin resistance is reversible)
Medications
antidepressants, anticonvulsants, oral contraceptives ….
