The document discusses implementing automated UI testing for SharePoint solutions. It recommends using tools like Puppeteer and Jest to automate browser actions and write tests. Puppeteer allows controlling Chrome programmatically to navigate pages, take screenshots, and interact with elements. Jest is a testing framework that can be used to write tests using Puppeteer. The document also provides tips for authenticating with SharePoint and detecting differences between pages using pixel matching.

Application Lifecycle Management for Office 365 developmentChris O'Brien

For teams doing cloud-friendly SharePoint or Office 365 development, apps will be a key area of focus - be they SharePoint add-ins or the newer Office 365/Azure AD apps. ASP.NET (typically MVC) is a common platform here, and fortunately ALM and Continuous Integration become MUCH easier - finally, an end to "it’s harder because it's SharePoint!" We'll demonstrate how Visual Studio Online and Azure Web Apps are a winning combination for “continuous deployment”, and also how features such as "Deployment Slots" in Azure can help with dev and test environments, and also the upgrade/push-to-live process. Several demos will ensure you’re covered for developing both SharePoint add-ins and Office 365 apps.
Understanding how to handle Deployments in Logic Apps is crucial for it to become part of your Integration platform. Moving the Logic Apps from development to test and preparing for production with version control and automated deployments.
Tired of having users email you that your web application is broken? Turns out that building reliable web applications is hard and requires a lot of testing. You can write unit tests but quite often these all pass and the application is still broken. Why? Because they test parts of the application in isolation. But for a reliable application we need more. We need to make sure that all parts work together as intended.
Cypress is a great tool to achieve this. It will test you complete web application in the browser and use it like a real user would. In this session Maurice will show you how to use Cypress during development and on the CI server. He will share tips and tricks to make your tests more resilient and more like how an actual end user would behave.
In this session, I explained the core concepts of SASS and how it can enhance your development workflow. Sketch Web Parts first in HTML move them to SPFx later...

Modern solutions are based on complex architectures, which are made of multiple layers and services. Often, to run your solutions, you need to host services on Azure, configure services in Office 365, and provision content in SharePoint Online. Deploying manually such kind of solutions in target environments can be really challenging, time consuming, and error-prone. In this session, you will learn how to automate the provisioning of such kind of solutions using the Microsoft Graph, the Azure Management API, and the REST API more in general. During the session you will see a real case study, based on the open source PnP Partner Pack Setup Wizard.
Building your first android app using xamarin (Gill Cleeren)Visug
Â
Do you have a great knowledge about C#? Maybe you’ve already built a great mobile app on Windows Phone or Windows 8 or even Windows 10? Would you like to be able to use your knowledge to build an Android app without having to resort to other languages or IDEs? This is possible using Xamarin! In this session, Gill Cleeren will take you through the creation of your first Android application: Joe’s Coffee Store. Along the way, you will learn the basic concepts of Android such as Activities and see how we can use these from Xamarin.Android. We’ll need to connect with services to get access to data and we’ll learn how to navigate in the app. You’ll see we can do this all of this directly from Visual Studio. We will finish the session by looking at how we can deploy the application to the Google Play Store so it’s ready for our users! You’ll walk away wanting to port your code to Android!

It is almost there, the RTM version of ASP.NET 5 and MVC6, with a new project system in Visual Studio 2015 and a new cross-platform runtime! In this session we will dig into each one of those. We will look at how you can deploy your website without it being affected, or affecting other runtimes. We will look at how to build your own middleware for this new runtime (and maybe package it as a NuGet package), building POCO controllers for MVC6, how to do unit testing, … At the end of this session you should have a better insight in this exciting new framework and runtime!
Replace Angular with React. Make the move from the MEAN stack to the powerful MERN Stack!
Come and learn about the MERN stack. No, that isn't a typo. The MERN stack is Mongo, Express, and Node, with React instead of Angular. While both React and Angular are remarkable JavaScript technologies, React comes with less baggage. There is no TypeScript, no annotations, no bossy framework telling you how to do everything.

Although Web and mobile apps are getting more capable every day, often your application makes the most sense on the desktop. In this talk, we’ll look at some recent technologies that have allowed significant desktop apps — like Barnes & Noble’s NOOK Study e-textbook reader, or Adobe’s Brackets IDE — to be written in HTML5 and JavaScript. Projects like the Chromium Embedded Framework, node-webkit, and AppJS provide an excellent native-to-JS bridge. With them in hand, you can bring the full power of the Node.js and front-end ecosystems to bear, while still gaining the advantages of running as a native app.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Â
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

Connector Corner: Automate dynamic content and events by pushing a buttonDianaGray10
Â
Here is something new! In our next Connector Corner webinar, we will demonstrate how you can use a single workflow to:
Create a campaign using Mailchimp with merge tags/fields
Send an interactive Slack channel message (using buttons)
Have the message received by managers and peers along with a test email for review
But there’s more:
In a second workflow supporting the same use case, you’ll see:
Your campaign sent to target colleagues for approval
If the “Approve” button is clicked, a Jira/Zendesk ticket is created for the marketing design team
But—if the “Reject” button is pushed, colleagues will be alerted via Slack message
Join us to learn more about this new, human-in-the-loop capability, brought to you by Integration Service connectors.

Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
Â
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.
