Liz Ngonzi will present on how mobile technologies are helping to elevate African voices and causes. Some examples mentioned are Mimiboard, which will enable local trade and communication in Africa, MPrep which brings education through SMS-based learning, and initiatives where African youth shared photos/videos of climate change impacts. The M-PESA mobile payment system allowed Kenyans rich and poor to donate during a famine, and 10 village girls shared their views in a global Twitter chat.
ICT, Digital Governance and Citizen Participation Panel Introduction - Columb...Elizabeth (Liz) Ngonzi
Presented these slides as an introduction to the ICT, Digital Governance, and Citizen Participation panel during Columbia University's African Diplomatic Forum on 11/18/11 (for which I was the moderator).
Panel Description: How is Information Communication Technology (ICT) changing the landscape of media and policy in Africa? From mobile phones, to crisis mapping platforms like Ushahidi, to the recent open data initiative launched by the government of Kenya, the digital age purports to change the way information is disseminated in—and about Africa. This panel will explore the role of ICTs in encouraging transparency, strengthening media, citizen participation, and democracy in Africa.

My presentation slides at a two-day media conference hosted by the Partnership with Africa Foundation e.V. focused on today’s rapidly changing media worlds and related opportunities for new media avenues for German-African relations. The background to this is the fundamental change in the way media are used by recipients and producers alike, both on the African continent and in Germany. Does the increase in information simultaneously offer some innovative channels for more participation and engagement? How can new media lead to positive changes in government and society? What can be learnt from the form and content of such media reporting to improve our perceptions of one another and break down prejudices?

Tourism in Africa: Wildlife Tours in South AfricaTatiana Kukanova
WASHINGTON, October 3, 2013 – Although South Africa has achieved substantial tourism success, deepening and sustaining that success in the face of global competition is a constant challenge, according to
a new report released today.
Tourism in Africa: Harnessing Tourism for Growth and Improved Livelihoods, explores how tourism has been used as a tool for economic development throughout the world, and how Sub-Saharan African
countries can start or continue to use tourism as a source of growth and poverty alleviation. Written primarily for government state, and local policy makers, potential investors and other stakeholders, the
report provides an objective analysis of the tourism industry, its economic value and its potential.
This project addresses African Migration through the use of ICT. The learners make researches enquiring some information from the officials and the public. To make the Africans aware of the danger they are into, learners made a movie which they later uploaded into “youtube”,they also used hot potato’s JQuiz(see Slide4) to find their knowledge about migration in Africa, for the local community, they used a photo story and photo collage (see Slide 5)on their messages printed on the newsletters to make everyone around aware of what's happening. I spent several months in sub-Saharan Africa last year to establish Ogilvy & Mather's social media capabilities in the region. This doesn't make me an 'Africa expert'(!) but I compiled a trends report based on my observations, reinforced with data, cases, examples and anecdotes.
The report covers consumer, business and digital marketing trends with actionable call-outs answering "what does this mean?"
It is written for Global Marketers and business people who are looking to launch or improve their Africa business ... as well as anyone open to busting a lot of the stereotypes and misinformation about Africa. In sum, it's an inspiring place we are simply not looking to enough.
Consumer, business and digital marketing trends in sub-Saharan Africa for 2016 and beyond. Covers the emerging African middle class, cultural diversity, Pan-Africa migration, smartphone penetration, social networking popularity and social commerce. Rich with data, anecdotes, examples and inspiration thought-starters. **Note: bold text is hyperlinked to references and more information so click throughout :)

#FRO2020 Digital Storytelling to Attract International FoundationsElizabeth (Liz) Ngonzi
Digital storytelling to attract international foundations:
How to access, attract, and engage international foundations online
In our ever-increasingly digitally connected world, NGOs from around the world potentially have the opportunity to access the $150 billion in annual philanthropic giving by the 260,000 foundations worldwide. Unfortunately, many NGOs lack the information necessary to understand how to go about doing so.
In this webinar, participants will learn about how to leverage effective digital storytelling to attract, inspire and engage with international foundations online, while differentiating themselves from the more than 10 million NGOs worldwide, through:
- Use of a storytelling framework that catalyzes international donors and demonstrates the credibility necessary to overcome common challenges faced by organizations engaging with geographically dispersed donors.
- An understanding about how to research and connect with international donors and which online platforms to use to tell their own stories.
This practical 30-minute webinar will also provide links to valuable resources to conduct further research on your own and to take steps to begin your NGO’s journey to access, attract and activate international foundations.

In this June 23rd, 2017 presentation that was part of an AFP 2017 Fundraising Day panel, I shared my insights about what Afrika Tikkun USA has done to define its success as a means to attract and retain donors. The key being that everyone wants to feel that they're part of a winning team, and therefore the organization has to represent itself accordingly.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Acetabularia Information For Class 9 .docxvaibhavrinwa19
Acetabularia acetabulum is a single-celled green alga that in its vegetative state is morphologically differentiated into a basal rhizoid and an axially elongated stalk, which bears whorls of branching hairs. The single diploid nucleus resides in the rhizoid.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

Editor's Notes
“In September 2010, international organizations, heads of state, celebrities and specialists gathered to review progress on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs)…set in 2000 to achieve eight anti-poverty goals by 2015. In the midst of the coverage of these grand events, high profile attendees wined, dined and debated the relative merits of each MDGs plan, while the actual “poor,” were not invited to these elite events.Project Diaspora decided to change perceptions about the poor by building the Villages in Action platform whereby the voices of the poor can be heard. On November 27, 2010, the first conference was held in a village outside Masindi, Uganda. The goal of this one-day conference was to showcase the grassroots efforts driving economic development and improving the lives of the community – all with little or no assistance from international aid organizations. In January 2012, Villages in Action partnered with GirlUp in a tweetchat that enabled these eight rural Ugandan girls to share their questions with the world spurring a conversation that reached over 1.5 million people (including Ivanka Trump) and generated over 4 million impressions on Twitter. This truly demonstrates the power of social media to amplify a message, empower girls and hopefully open up their world such that they aspire to leadership positions.
