Senior Project Summary
HCA 459: Senior Project
Introduction
Health care sector is experiencing many transformations in service delivery and in patient handling. There are immense trends all around the world including technology that not only change the delivery of health care but also the way the system is conceived (Tan, 2011). In the hospital setting, technology is the pillar for efficiency, accurate record keeping, increased accessibility to healthcare and transition of healthcare to homes. The effects of technology in the County Hospital administrators include efficient support systems which enhance quality services through use of electronic medical records and other information transmission systems. Technological advances enhances understand diseases and discoveries and development of new therapies through genome decoding.
Scope of the senior Project
The impact of technology in regards to employee performance, organization structure and management planning.
Evidence-based medicine through technology will enable healthcare providers to establish standard protocols to be used in treatment of many diseases.
Effects of healthcare trend on treatment cost
In the world today, payers have a huge role in making decision on the type of treatment that a patient receives following the rising cost of medical services. Therefore, it is evident that technology has empowered patients in the choice of treatment option that they receive.
Moreover, technology enhances data management and ultimate coordination among healthcare providers (Ho, 2012). Patient files are easily accessible from anywhere following the extensive use of databases which have also cut down the cost of care services in the hospital. Healthcare providers can use invasive procedures with the increased technological advances. Imaging has reduced the task of examination by technicians and physicians on human anatomy.
Effects of health care trend on quality and access of services
Advent of technology has enabled realization of reduced mortality and thus increased life expectancy. Improved technology enhances quality services and these services have been individualized to suit every patient. In addition, previously untreatable conditions such as end-stage renal diseases are now treatable mainly due to improvement in capabilities and quality of services (Futurescan, 2011).
The negative impact of technology in healthcare
Internet has provided room for large medical knowledge which creates a platform for self-diagnosis among patients. This poses great and serious damage to a patient’s health and the general wellbeing and in the long run it may lead to increased cost of treatment.

There is no doubt that the use of technology is increasing all around us. The health care field is no different. Technology now plays a major role in the health care profession. It is almost guaranteed to continue to develop at a rapid rate (Horn, 2017). From electronic heath records to patient portals, I have utilized technology since becoming a nurse, increasing significantly over the last decade. However, at my most current place of employment, we do not use much technology at all. In fact, much of technology is prohibited as I work in a prison. After relying on technology so heavily, it has been a major adjustment to return to the era of very limited technology use. In fact, the only technology we utilize is telehealth.
Telehealth is the “delivery of health care services, where distance is a critical factor, by all healthcare professionals using information and communication technologies for the exchange of valid information for diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease and injuries, research and evaluation, and for the continuing education of health care providers, all in the interest of advancing the health of individuals and their communities” (Koivunen, & Saranto, 2018). This method of health care delivery is seen as a means in which to improve communication and enhance patient-centered care (Cipriano, 2011; Virji, Yarnall, Krause, Pollak, Scannell, Gradison, & Ostbye, 2006). As with all technology, there are both facilitators and barriers present with the use of telehealth.
According to the study conducted by Koivunen & Saranto (2018), nurses’ skills in telehealth application were seen as a facilitator to telehealth utilization. However, the same study identified some barriers present. Some of those barriers included nursing’s discomfort with the equipment utilized with telehealth as well as lack of basic computer skills present amongst nurses (Koivunen, & Saranto, 2018). In addition, negative attitudes along with lack of support and training were identified barriers (Koivunen, & Saranto, 2018). It is obvious that the change from traditional face-to-face nursing practice to telehealth requires much support for its users. There is certainly a learning curve with any new technology with experience and attitudes playing a major role in the successful implementation. However, if the proper steps are taken, telehealth can be a cost-effective way to address health care needs and has been shown to improve clinical indicators (Shulver, Killington, & Crotty, 2016).
In addition to the barriers present, there is also negative attitudes by some clinicians in regards to telehealth. While some health care providers believe that telehealth could offer enhanced and expanded services to many, other clinicians voiced reserv ...

PLEASE UNPLOAD EACH DISCUSSION SEPARATELYAccording to Deloitte (2019) “Digital technologies are supporting health systems’ efforts to transition to new models of patient-centered care and helping them develop “smart health” approaches to increase access and affordability, improve quality, and lower costs. New technologies are helping with diagnosis and treatment; helping with speed, quality, and accuracy; and improving the patient experience.” (the U.S. and Global Health Care Industry Outlook)While we can likely agree with the statement above, we also know this transformation inevitably comes with many challenges for both healthcare providers and consumers. Resistance to change is one of the biggest challenges. With emerging technologies, customer experience and exposure to information technology are increasing. The explosion of patient portals, portable technology, self-monitoring wearable devices, etc.… has created a more aware, assertive, and educated patient. How you feel about these changes will greatly impact the success you have with it. Challenges are many, and reflection upon your feelings is vital.Assess the challenges of technological advances in Healthcare.Include the following aspects in the discussion:1) Using your text and other course resources investigate ways to make the digital transformation process as smooth as possible2) Provide an approach from a patient education perspective3) Discuss your personal point of view regarding the health care technology revolution

Any change in process is difficult, especially when dealing with a large team or a complex system such as healthcare. When transition into a more advanced digital technology it becomes even more difficult when dealing with the variety of backgrounds and ages the team ranges. Sullivan places it in 5 easier steps to help the transition into a more digital area easier. Those steps include starting with a baseline, conducting a needs assessment, building out the technology and process roadmap, executing and delivering, and ensuring ongoing holistic services and support (Sullivan, 2019). Starting with a baseline is assessing the current system in place and conducting a needs assessment is identifying areas of improvement. Building out the technology and process roadmap is correctly identifying to proper system that best resolves those needs and creating a plan. Executing and delivering is executing the plan that was set with a full team exciting and engaged in the process change. Lastly, ensuring ongoing holistic services and support is continuing to support the staff even after the process and plan is completed to allow for proper support for new team members or other problems that may arise. The best approach I find for patient education perspective is information communication model. This mo ...

Trained and competent medical practitioners are the basis of an effective health system and
severe shortage of such professionals can prove to be detrimental to patients. One of the
major challenges that medical practitioners face is ensuring that their medical knowledge
remains updated. However, in India, the population is very huge and it is a mammoth task to
provide current and updated healthcare practices. Hence, it requires an effective and
convenient medium without demographical and geographical boundaries to provide new
knowledge to the medical practitioners, amidst their busy schedules of patient care and
healthcare delivery. To improve the knowledge base under any difficult situations, existing
Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) can be used to disseminate knowledge
for enhanced health care delivery. The objective of this research work is to study and analyse
Video Conferencing based model for medical knowledge through questionnaire based survey
followed up with critical analysis. The findings of this research suggest that Video
Conferencing is one of the best tools for continuous updation of knowledge to medical
practitioners accompanied with the absence of any learning curve in a highly populous
country like India.

Technology has become very useful in many sectors. In the health care industry, it has
changed the way health care services are provided. It turns out to be a critical tool for
competition in the health care market. Quality has now been at the forefront when it comes to
shaping any health care program (Feenberg, 2012). This makes health care institutions to strive
and produces better services to its customers.
A look at surgical procedures together with state of the art proper care method, an
important position from the infirmary is represented by the technology. Compared to the past,
health care institutions have now been successful when it comes to performing a number of
lifetime harmful and critical surgical procedures (Mali, 2012). All these are attributed to
advanced models to be used in surgeries brought about by technology. There is much equipment
that has been brought about by technology advancement including 3D echocardiogram and CT
reconstruction. These two have made surgery more efficient by improving imaging capabilities
which enable surgeons to operate without hindrances on the human body (Raza, Sabik, Masabni,
Ainkaran, Lytle, W. B., & Blackstone, 2014). Healthcare services have improved too, by the
introduction of robotic surgery and teleconferencing. The latter has enabled doctors to provide
knowledge and expertise far and wide irrespective of their physical location. They can monitor,
track and communicate with their patients to help them keeping tabs on their ailments (Raza, et
al., 2014). Robotic surgery helps doctors conduct surgery remotely with the use of a machine that
can multitask and overcome some of the limitations a human doctor may have. This improves the
likelihood of an operation to be successful which benefits both the physician and the patient.
Additionally, there are Pc Served Medical procedures together with CAS, which have
been termed as computer or laptop well guided medical procedures. Most surgeons, especially
cosmetic surgeons rely on these procedures in some surgery activities on various subjects, such

My change proposal is being implemented in the ICU. The intervention is implementing communication tools and processes that are evidence based to improve nursing sensitive indicators in the ICU. The internal stakeholders are the ICU staff and the hospital. The external stakeholders are the community that is served by the hospital. Our hospital works off of a relationship-based care (RBC) model. RBC is a culture transformation model and an operational framework that improves safety, quality, patient satisfaction, and staff satisfaction by improving every relationship within an organization (Gallison & Kester, 2018). The core of workforce engagement is the reignighting of joy and meaning for nurses. The joy and satisfaction in having a sense of accomplishment and significance in the work through processes leading to successful outcomes. RBC speaks to how we treat patients, family, and each other. Internal stakeholders all work off this model in this organization. However, covid greatly challenged relationship based care principles by limiting how we interact with each other and our patient families. That in person piece is missing for many patients still. In this organizational transition back to pre-covid practices, meetings, and policies staff are looking for guidance to unify and strengthen the workforce. It is a good segway into external stakeholders. Our nurses and other staff are also members of the community served by the hospital. Therefore, the internal stakeholders all face the real fact that they too receive their care here and have an interest in the quality of care provided. This community funded hospital has been influenced by local donors, architects and artists. Donors play a large role in celebrating the staff and creating this sense of meaning and significance for hospital staff. In a relationship based care model, these gestures serve a huge purpose and allow the hospital to recognize staff in unique ways. The positive factor here is that the nurses have come out of this powerless feeling covid left them with. Small gestures that build trust between nursing and management create a more productive work environment. This is done through clear concise communication, open discussion, and acting on feedback from staff.

Stakeholder involvement is crucial for the successful implementation of the change proposal project. Stakeholders are those who are interested in the change proposal project, such as nurses, patients, and suppliers. They can affect or be affected by the organization's actions, objectives, and policies (Lubbeke et al., 2019). We must assess our work environment to identify all relevant stakeholders. Failure to do so can negatively affect the project ...

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

head: EFFECTIVE USE OF PATIENT CARE TECHNOLOGIES Effective use of Patient-Care
technologies Sarai Artires Capella University Nursing Research and Informatics February
2019 1 EFFECTIVE USE OF PATIENT CARE SERVICES 2 Effective use of Patient-Care
technologies The advancement in medical technology has played an essential role in
improving the quality medical care across the world. The technology has not only improved
the quality of care but also contributed to the management of costs, making medical care
affordable to patients. While appreciating the tremendous contributions that various forms
of technology have had the provision of care services, there are devastating setbacks that
the technologies have created, thereby castigating the benefits of technology to advanced
care services. One of the areas of care services that have suffered due to the mistakes in
handling the technologies is acute care. Lack of knowledge on the proper use of the
technologies has contributed significantly to life-threatening errors by medical
practitioners. The development of procedure leading to the effective use of the technologies
is critical to the improvement of the quality of acute care services. Discussion: Nursing
Research And InformaticsSharing of patient information is one of the most critical aspects
2. of medical care technology in an acute care setting. Due to the complexity of the care service
in this healthcare sector, there is a need to share information between among the primary
care provider, patients, specialists and hospital physicians. As a result of this fact, there is a
significant number of people who use the systems. In many situations, there are technology
system complications because of mistakes that the uses make when handling the systems.
For effective use of technology in acute care services, all the users need to know the
procedures and processes applicable to the use of the technologies. Some of the users are
not aware of even the most fundamental issues such as personal password management in
many instances. The problems with the use of medical technologies in acute care services
are that many individuals are using the technologies and not all these users have the same
level of knowledge regarding the use of the technologies. Moreover, as technologies evolve,
the users of EFFECTIVE USE OF PATIENT CARE SERVICES 3 the new technologies do not get
appropriate training on the use of the emerging technologies (Institute for health
Improvement, n.d). That makes it incredibly important to make sure that all users of acute
cate technologies get competitive training in line with the new technologies. In acute care
management, there are many forms of technologies that apply to the processes of enhancing
the quality of care services. One of the most recent technological developments that are
useful in acute care services is Electronic Health Records (EHR). A wide range of
professionals handles acute care patients. Since each professional needs to have the records
for different purposes, the introduction of electronic health records is an essential
advancement towards better management of the patient records. There are also surgical
and survive line technologies that are applicable in acute care management. Smartphones,
tablets, and applications are some of the most recent medical care technologies, which
apply to acute care services. Discussion: Nursing Research And InformaticsWith these
technologies, it is possible for the patient and care providers can keep in touch with
different locations and address any medical concern that may arise. Effective management
of these technologies is essential in making sure that acute care patients receive services
that meet the desired quality levels. Change management is perhaps one of the most
challenging tasks that organizations may face with regards to the use of technology. Since
there are some forms of technologies that are complex and it is difficult to train the users in
a short duration, it behooves the management to create strategies to manage change and
align the competencies of the employees to the demands of the new technologies. The initial
approach to managing change and make technology useful to the provision of acute care
serviced is to conduct continuous training services to users of medical technologies in the
organization (California HealthCare Foundation, 2015). Secondly, since technologies are
changing each day, it is essential to adjust the training curriculum to reflect the EFFECTIVE
USE OF PATIENT CARE SERVICES 4 emerging medical technologies. Continuing to use the
old training curriculum in the face of changing technologies is not likely to help in the
creation of technological awareness that may be desired. When change comes to any
organization, there is always an element of resistance that may derail the entire process of
technology implementation. There are many organizations in which employee resistance to
change caused massive challenges that ultimately hindered ab effective realization of the
objectives of the technologies. One of the primary reasons for these eventualities is the
3. failure of the authorities to align the technologies to the strength and technical competence
of the employees (The TIGER Inititive, n.d). Preempting change resistance among
professional and putting adequate measures to respond to them is one of the critical roles of
change management in an organization. In acute care, the services are so delicate that a
rejection of the technologies may have a tremendous effect on the provision of care services,
a situation that an organization may not like the line to be exposed to. To address this
problem, it is necessary to involve the medical services providers in the process of
acquisition of new technologies. Consulting physicians in the choice of technology to be
used is essential; in deterring any possible resistance that may arise (National League of
Nursing, n.d). Besides, assuring all the personnel that the technology would not inhibit their
performance but enhance their effectiveness in care provision is likely to persuade the
professionals to embrace the new technologies. The level of technological development in
acute cate has been on the rise with each passing day. Discussion: Nursing Research And
InformaticsCurrently, the technologies that are applicable in this area of care services has
improved tremendously and has been responsible for the improvement of the quality of
acute care services. One of the areas in which technology has improved massively is
communication EFFECTIVE USE OF PATIENT CARE SERVICES 5 among the parties involved
in the provision of care. From patients, primary care providers and another professional,
the development of communication technologies such as smartphones, apps, and electronic
health records, there is a sufficient level of evidence that the level of technological
advancement in acute care services is impressive. The major problem in the use of
technologies in the provision of care services is the mismatch between the technologies and
users. It is emerging that there is a significant number of technology users who do not have
even the most rudimentary understanding of the application of such technologies. For
example, many patients do not have an understanding of the manner in which they may use
the technologies. Even some of the physicians do not have the operational awareness of
technologies. The failure to address these challenges will be catastrophic. Since some of the
medical service providers do not know the application or these technologies, they may
delay addressing emergencies, and that may put the lives of the patients at risk. Fatalities
may result when the management fails to address this technical incompleteness. To address
this challenge, it is recommended for the Information Technology department to continually
carry out training services to the users of the technologies to make them competent.
