Technology has become very useful in many sectors. In the health care industry, it has
changed the way health care services are provided. It turns out to be a critical tool for
competition in the health care market. Quality has now been at the forefront when it comes to

important position from the infirmary is represented by the technology. Compared to the past,
health care institutions have now been successful when it comes to performing a number of
lifetime harmful and critical surgical procedures (Mali, 2012). All these are attributed to
advanced models to be used in surgeries brought about by technology. There is much equipment
that has been brought about by technology advancement including 3D echocardiogram and CT
reconstruction. These two have made surgery more efficient by improving imaging capabilities
which enable surgeons to operate without hindrances on the human body (Raza, Sabik, Masabni,
Ainkaran, Lytle, W. B., & Blackstone, 2014). Healthcare services have improved too, by the
introduction of robotic surgery and teleconferencing. The latter has enabled doctors to provide
knowledge and expertise far and wide irrespective of their physical location. They can monitor,
track and communicate with their patients to help them keeping tabs on their ailments (Raza, et

can multitask and overcome some of the limitations a human doctor may have. This improves the
likelihood of an operation to be successful which benefits both the physician and the patient.

been termed as computer or laptop well guided medical procedures. Most surgeons, especially
cosmetic surgeons rely on these procedures in some surgery activities on various subjects, such

There is no doubt that the use of technology is increasing all around us. The health care field is no different. Technology now plays a major role in the health care profession. It is almost guaranteed to continue to develop at a rapid rate (Horn, 2017). From electronic heath records to patient portals, I have utilized technology since becoming a nurse, increasing significantly over the last decade. However, at my most current place of employment, we do not use much technology at all. In fact, much of technology is prohibited as I work in a prison. After relying on technology so heavily, it has been a major adjustment to return to the era of very limited technology use. In fact, the only technology we utilize is telehealth.
Telehealth is the “delivery of health care services, where distance is a critical factor, by all healthcare professionals using information and communication technologies for the exchange of valid information for diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease and injuries, research and evaluation, and for the continuing education of health care providers, all in the interest of advancing the health of individuals and their communities” (Koivunen, & Saranto, 2018). This method of health care delivery is seen as a means in which to improve communication and enhance patient-centered care (Cipriano, 2011; Virji, Yarnall, Krause, Pollak, Scannell, Gradison, & Ostbye, 2006). As with all technology, there are both facilitators and barriers present with the use of telehealth.
According to the study conducted by Koivunen & Saranto (2018), nurses’ skills in telehealth application were seen as a facilitator to telehealth utilization. However, the same study identified some barriers present. Some of those barriers included nursing’s discomfort with the equipment utilized with telehealth as well as lack of basic computer skills present amongst nurses (Koivunen, & Saranto, 2018). In addition, negative attitudes along with lack of support and training were identified barriers (Koivunen, & Saranto, 2018). It is obvious that the change from traditional face-to-face nursing practice to telehealth requires much support for its users. There is certainly a learning curve with any new technology with experience and attitudes playing a major role in the successful implementation. However, if the proper steps are taken, telehealth can be a cost-effective way to address health care needs and has been shown to improve clinical indicators (Shulver, Killington, & Crotty, 2016).
In addition to the barriers present, there is also negative attitudes by some clinicians in regards to telehealth. While some health care providers believe that telehealth could offer enhanced and expanded services to many, other clinicians voiced reserv ...

in this day and age. New tools and ways of doing things have been introduced enabling doctors to be more efficient when doing surgery. Doctors do not even need to be in the same locations as the patient to do surgery or prescribe medication. Knowledge from all over the world can be accessed with the touch of a button this has improved the provision of medical services tremendously. This has benefited many people all over the world and made healthcare delivery easier (Lamba, 2011).

In addition to this technology has changed the way surgery is done by finding more effective and efficient ways of carrying out complicated procedures through extensive research. It is not a surprise that there are now less invasive operation procedures that enable doctors work and stitch you up in no time leaving no scars.

Introduction to Information Technology—Role in Nursing and Healthcare
In this module, we begin with an introduction to information technology and the management of information. The readings in this module identify the many areas in healthcare in which information technology is used. The fundamental of healthcare delivery is an important start to our course. Information technology is used in such healthcare facilities as ambulatory care, acute care, and subacute care. The different methods and means each healthcare facility uses and manages information technology is outlined in our readings. Healthcare providers such as direct care providers, clinical allied professionals, and other organizations (i.e., American Medical Association, American Nurses Association) all use technology to guide delivery of care, information, and manage these deliveries for various reasons (McGonigle & Mastrian, 2015).
Introduction
As an information-intensive profession, nursing continues to use information technology in healthcare. Nurses use information in applying knowledge to problems, and acting with wisdom forming the basis of the professional of nursing. The availability of this information in caring for patients continues to grow for nurses and allows for increased accessibility, accuracy, and timeliness in caring for patients. The information age is here for nursing and the U.S. healthcare system (McGonigle & Mastrian, 2015). In this module, an introduction to information technology (IT), .

Abstract
This paper will seek to show how a manager can employ Roger’s principles of relative advantage, compatibility, simplicity, triability and observable results to overcome resistance in nursing community. Further the paper will also look at the important roles nurses can play in the implementation of EHR while at the same time evaluating the negative outcomes of not involving nurses in the software creation process.
Key words: Benefits, resistance, adoption of EHR, challenges
Introduction
As electronic health records (EHR) and information systems become more pronounced in the medical industry, it is imperative that nurses become well versed on these technologies and that the concerns of members of the nursing profession are dealt with to eliminate any resistance which nurses might have towards implementation Health information systems. Further, the software development life cycle should seek to include the varying opinions of nurses to ensure that the product created is easy to work with and is an improvement of the previous versions (McGonigle & Mastrian, 2015). This paper will therefore seek to analyse how as a manager one can overcome resistance posed by the nursing community towards adoption of HIT and analyse the ramifications of not involving nurses in the SLDC process.
Body
How I would approach the meeting
As a nursing facilitator who is tasked with ensuring that there is implementation of HIT systems within the hospital, I would approach the meeting using Roger’s five tools to show how the implementation of EHR systems would result to increased efficiency within the areas they serve and the relative advantage these systems would offer like helping them save time and serve a greater number of patients. Further, I would also outline some the features of the software systems which are compatible with the existing innovations and practices (Kaminski, 2016).
Further, I would also seek to find out some of the qualms and doubts which some of the nurses have towards the innovation and seek to find out how I can resolve the resistance offered by members of the nursing body by illustrating observable results in major health institutions where the software has been used and how it has made the whole nursing body to be effective and effective. Further, through training, I would seek to show the simplicity of using the system by outlining how these systems are simple to use and adopting the simplest language in training which would create familiarity among members of the nursing community.
In addition, I would seek to show the triability by allowing the nurses to play around with the technology, offer their suggestions and feedback and illustrate ways in which the software can be further enhanced to make it user fr ...

PLEASE UNPLOAD EACH DISCUSSION SEPARATELYAccording to Deloitte (2019) “Digital technologies are supporting health systems’ efforts to transition to new models of patient-centered care and helping them develop “smart health” approaches to increase access and affordability, improve quality, and lower costs. New technologies are helping with diagnosis and treatment; helping with speed, quality, and accuracy; and improving the patient experience.” (the U.S. and Global Health Care Industry Outlook)While we can likely agree with the statement above, we also know this transformation inevitably comes with many challenges for both healthcare providers and consumers. Resistance to change is one of the biggest challenges. With emerging technologies, customer experience and exposure to information technology are increasing. The explosion of patient portals, portable technology, self-monitoring wearable devices, etc.… has created a more aware, assertive, and educated patient. How you feel about these changes will greatly impact the success you have with it. Any change in process is difficult, especially when dealing with a large team or a complex system such as healthcare. When transition into a more advanced digital technology it becomes even more difficult when dealing with the variety of backgrounds and ages the team ranges. Sullivan places it in 5 easier steps to help the transition into a more digital area easier. Those steps include starting with a baseline, conducting a needs assessment, building out the technology and process roadmap, executing and delivering, and ensuring ongoing holistic services and support (Sullivan, 2019). Starting with a baseline is assessing the current system in place and conducting a needs assessment is identifying areas of improvement. Building out the technology and process roadmap is correctly identifying to proper system that best resolves those needs and creating a plan. Executing and delivering is executing the plan that was set with a full team exciting and engaged in the process change. Lastly, ensuring ongoing holistic services and support is continuing to support the staff even after the process and plan is completed to allow for proper support for new team members or other problems that may arise. The best approach I find for patient education perspective is information communication model. This mo ...

Successful Implementation of Electronic Health Information Technology
Since the inception of the HITECH Act, health organizations have faced increased pressure to update their health information technology (HIT) resources. As discussed last week, many believe that the increased use of electronic health records and the quick and efficient communication afforded by HIT can lead to improved quality of patient care. Yet there are significant costs associated with implementing such systems. What can organizations do to ensure that the correct system is selected and that the system will be appropriate for those required to use it? Who should be involved in those decisions?
This week introduces the systems development life cycle and discusses how it can guide an organization through the complexities of adopting a new HIT system. In this Discussion, you are asked to consider the role of nurses in the SDLC process.
To prepare:
Review the steps of the systems development life cycle.
Think about your own organization, or one with which you are familiar, and the steps the organization goes through when purchasing and implementing a new HIT system.
Consider what a nurse could contribute to decisions made at each stage when planning for new health information technology. What might be the consequences of not involving nurses?
Reflect on your own experiences with your organization selecting and implementing new technology. As an end user, do you feel you had any input in the selection or and planning of the new HIT system?
DISCUSSION 1- Successful Implementation of Electronic Health Information Technology
Organizations are constantly updating their systems and resources. It is imperative that nurses are incorporated with the decision in making the healthy information technology decisions. According to Nurse leaders discussion the nurse's role in driving technology decisions (2010), nurses' decisions about clinical technologies should be guided by two overarching goals, establishing safe and efficient care, and measuring nurses' impact in keep patients safe (p. 8). Having the nurses review and support and idea of a new technology helps the organization make the right investment for its patients.

Chosen method(s) of qualitative research:
The methods I am going to use for my qualitative research paper are methods such as interviews, Internet search, and the library.
Hypothesis:
Technology is technology is running at an exponentially increasing rate. This has been really good in the medial field but bad to some people who can’t keep up or simply don’t want to convert to new technology.
Basic information:
The use of cell phones and computers in countries around the world has risen in the past three years, and dramatically so since 2002. In the 16 nations where trends are available, the median percentage of adults owning a cell phone was just 45% in 2002. By 2007, that number had risen to 70%, and in 2010 the median reached 81%. The increase in cell phone ownership was especially noticeable in Russia and Kenya, where cell phone use rose from less than one-in-ten in 2002 to nearly two-thirds in 2010. Cell phone ownership also rose rapidly in Jordan (up 59 percentage points from 2002 to 2010), Argentina (49 points), China (40 points) and Indonesia (38 points). The number of adults who say they use a computer at least occasionally has also risen in the 16 nations where trends are available. In these nations, the median percentage of computer users was just 32% in 2002, but rose to 39% in 2007 and 50% in 2010. In five of these nations, computer use saw a double-digit increase from 2007 to 2010: Russia, Argentina, Turkey, China and Kenya. Furthermore, I wanted to look more into how technology has improved healthcare, and I found how that technology has played a huge role in Anesthesiology. Anesthesiologists help ensure the safety of patients undergoing surgery and childbirth. The anesthesiologist provides care for the patient to prevent the pain and distress they would otherwise experience. Without the help of technology, Anesthesiology wouldn’t be a reliable as it is today. Anesthesiologists use technologies such as gas analyzers; arterial pulse oximeters, electronic infusion pumps, advanced airway devices, portable ultrasound, and echocardiographic imaging have reduced the mortality directly attributable to anesthesia (the Rector and Visitors). This has helped doctors perform surgeries minimizing the chance of error.
Your interpretations of the data:
There is much more quantitative research about the numbers and data I can talk about, but I will save that for the future projects. However, I did include a lot of factual information. My interpretation about the data is good. I believe that technology is growing and will keep growing.
How this research supports your thesis statement:
Technology is helping save lives, help workflow, and better the world. Some of the most significant changes that technology has delivered in the last three decades have been in the field of productivity and communication. The fax mach.

WK1 Main Post Clark Adrienne
In 1992, Nursing Informatics was recognized as a specialty by the American Nurse Association (ANA). Nursing continues to be one of the most demanding and critical fields in medicine. Being a nurse for over 22 years, it wasn’t until the last 16 years that I had the opportunity to excel in various nursing positions which involved data mining via electronic medical records or some part of nursing informatics process. Technology in health care is increasingly becoming an integral component of the U.S. health care delivery system. Nurses, through their role in the delivery of patient care, have a pivotal role in technology deployment, maintenance, and evolution. Although nurses are becoming involved in technology in health care, the specific roles are diverse, and more nurses are expressing an interest in nursing informatics according to Ericksen (2009). Of those many roles, nursing informatics has become one of those key roles. It became my goal to learn more about nursing informatics to improve the safety and efficiency of patient care via electronic medical records documentation.
Key Functional Areas and Relevance
According to the ANA, there are nine functional area of nursing informatics (2015). During my military career, I have gained experiences via the various functional roles of informatics nursing all except the “research and evaluation” according to ANA (2015). For example, I held many nursing leadership and management positions as a utilization/case/disease manager, clinical director of operations, health care integrator, and medical management director and inspection compliance officer. For the purpose of this discussion, the two key functional areas of informatics were found to be relevant to my interest and nursing career is leadership and compliance.
When I think of the roles and responsibilities of a nurse leader, who plays a significant role in advocating for nursing informatics “interpersonal collaboration” comes to mind in developing technology (ANA, 2015). Also, nurse informatics, leaders need to communicate clearly and concisely and to structure their ideas strategically in line with the organization’s mission and goals (ANA, 2015). Together with nurse frontline managers and clinical leaders, and nurse informatics leaders help set the organization’s direction and objectives. Also, these teams strive for consistent practices and accountability across an organization. Also,
In 2005, I was stationed overseas as a new Director of Quality. Upon my arrival, there was an influx of medication errors approximately 45 reported via The Patient Safety Reporting System (PSRS) all within year to include three sentinel events. There were a few nurses' names repeated via PSRS. The Chief Nurse (CN) was in the process to submit paperwork to have their license suspended. Also, the next step was to have them remove from the military if there was no progress within a year. In preparation for my new job, I atten.

In the field of health informatics, particular historical events help inform the management of health information:
1. The 1950s saw the early development of health informatics through cybernetics and information processing. This entailed professionals from various fields, such as clinical documentation and epidemiology.
2. The 1960 to 2000 period saw the evolution of data analysis and computing. Health information management was facilitated through the development of electronic medical records systems. Such systems are vital for health information management since they provide real-time patient-centered records to authorized users (Collen & Ball, 2018).
3. There is the period from 2000 to the present where stakeholders have moved to digitize healthcare processes such as information sharing, record keeping, and care coordination.
Guidelines
There are several guidelines for technology use that Feather fall could implement in health information management. For starters, the medical staff should get the relevant training required to utilize the technology to facilitate the effective acquisition, analysis, and protection of patient information. Training ensures they can tackle any challenges they may encounter to collect accurate data and analyze it in a way that benefits patients. Additionally, the medical staff needs to ensure that the devices they use are beyond the reach of unauthorized individuals. This is crucial in promoting patient confidentiality/privacy and securing pertinent data does not get into the wrong hands (Ozair et al., 2018). Finally, medical practitioners should provide feedback about their experiences to ensure that the technology they use can be improved in the future.
Standard Technologies
There are various standard technologies used in health information management. For starters, concerning record keeping, some of the traditional EHR technologies include Epic Systems and Meditech. Many institutions use these two systems due to their departmental functionality and extensive usability. RingCentral Video is a standard technology for videoconferencing that facilitates open communication and interactive communications among healthcare providers. Different practitioners can share information and work together in real-time to facilitate effective patient care. Finally, there is the use of Vendor-Neutral Archives (VNAs) and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) when it comes to processing and storing the medical images of patients (Sirota-Cohen et al., 2019).
How Roles at Feather fall Interact with Technology
The pertinent roles at Feather fall would interact with technology through a simple but effective communication system that ensures all users can get the most out of the health management technologies on offer. Currently, the staff members have poor training and no means of effe ...

Key Topics in Health Care Technology Evaluation
The amount of new information and data, and the number of available technologies are growing at an ever-accelerating rate. Did you know that during any given 24 hours, humanity generates enough new information to fill the Library of Congress 70 times (Smolan & Erwitt, 2012)? As a nurse informaticist, it is important to keep current on new developments in the field, but with the rapid pace of change, that effort can be overwhelming. It is easier to keep current with key trends if nurse informaticists focus on selected issues.
In this Discussion, you consider key topics in the field of health care technology. You then consider the different approaches you could take when designing an evaluation in these areas. For example, if you are interested in usability, your goal could be to determine if a system is user friendly from the viewpoint of a nurse. A different goal might be to determine if the location of the system facilitates ease of use from the viewpoint of physicians.

The American Nurses Association (ANA) identified nursing informatics as "a specialty that integrates nursing, science, computer science, and information science to manage and communicate data, information, and knowledge in nursing practice" (ANA, 2001, Pg.17). Healthcare and nursing informatics are both vastly growing fields within the medical field and are continuously incorporating new and evolving technology. Both have been around for the past three decades, at least. The technology boom at the turn of the century has helped informatics and information systems further evolve. Enhanced delivery of care, improved health outcomes, and advanced patient education are just a few aspects that have improved. With any new technology or innovation there are implications, some foreseeable and some that come to light after the unveiling of the new process or product. Some impacts that are most notable are clinical, managerial, and policy implications. This paper will explore the impli ...

Incorporate Your Quantitative Research

NURSING The Impact of technology in Nursing Practice Billeto R. McGee Grantham
University CA499-Professional Strategies March 24, 2019 1 TECHNOLOGY AND NURSING 2
The Impact of Technology in Nursing Practice In the past, many obstacles hindered efficient
and effective delivery of healthcare services. However, the introduction of technology era
has made diagnosis and treatment in healthcare to be not only efficient but also cost
effective in the overall performance. This is thanks to introduction of radiography
equipment, dialysis machines, and an introduction of biometrics and electronic health
records. Also, technological innovations such as EHR, modern imaging devices, and remote
monitoring facilitate patient-centered care that is timely. Therefore, main aim of an
introduction of technological innovations is to cut on cost, improve service delivery, and
improve the overall performance of healthcare. The field of nursing is of great significance
in the medical world. Nurses play a key role in the diagnosis, treatment, management and
prevention of diseases among individuals as well as populations (Roneyet al., 2017).
Technology is a discipline which has been applied in almost every sector all over the world.
Over the past decades, developments in technology have led to tremendous improvements
in various fields. The field of nursing is one area where technology has led to numerous
improvements and breakthroughs (Roneyet al., 2017). Technological discoveries and
advancements have had massive impacts in nursing. Use of technology in the nursing field
2. has had various impacts in nursing practice with such tasks as patient records, disease
diagnosis, treatment and surveillance being made easy (Piscotty, Kalisch & Gracey? Thomas,
2015). Additionally, use of technology in nursing has led to enhancements in areas such as
nurse education, research, and communication. Problem Statement Efficiency is a
significant element of success and progress in any field. Nursing profession, like any other
field, has witnessed numerous changes over the years. Moreover, TECHNOLOGY AND
NURSING 3 improvements have been made in a bid to explore ways through which service
delivery can be improved (Piscotty, Kalisch & Gracey?Thomas, 2015). Many organizations
have turned to the use of technology in order to make work easier and to improve service
delivery (Elgin & Bergero, 2015). The field of nursing is crucial in the health sector and as
such, it is important to incorporate the use of technology in nursing in order to yield the
best results (Piscotty, Kalisch & Gracey?Thomas, 2015). Through proper use of technology,
the nursing sector would experience unprecedented success. CA499 Impact of Technology
in Nursing Practice ResearchPurpose of the Study This research was primarily set up to
determine and understand the various ways in which the use of technology affected the
nursing practice. It was important to determine some of the ways in which technology
improved service delivery and efficiency within the field of nursing. The study was carried
out with a view of understanding the various ways in which technology has been utilized in
the field of nursing. In order to achieve this, it was of great essence for the study to
determine the most crucial areas in the nursing profession where the use of technology had
recorded the most significant impact. Among the areas of interest included the following;
research, data storage and retrieval, communication among various stakeholders in the
nursing field as well as the use of electronic health records. Research Questions To help
achieve its purpose, it was of great essence to identify a research question which would be
used for the study. It was notable that use of technology had resulted in significant
improvements in the nursing sector. These improvements ranged from easier storage and
retrieval of records, communication as well as medical research. This study sought to
determine TECHNOLOGY AND NURSING 4 how use of technology had affected operations in
the nursing practice. Thus the first research question used in this study was; what were the
impacts of technology in the field of nursing? The second research question was; what were
the challenges faced in the implementation of technology in nursing practice? The research
included an interview with Kelly Hancock, a nursing practitioner who also doubled up as
the executive chief nursing officer at Cleveland clinic (Kelly Hancock, 2019). With
experience spanning twenty years and placed in charge of close to twenty-two thousand
nurses (Kelly Hancock, 2019), Hancock was viewed as the best candidate for this interview.
CA499 Impact of Technology in Nursing Practice ResearchSignificance of Research Focusing
on the impact of the use of technology in the field of nursing, this study was vital for various
reasons. One of the ways in which this study was significant was in determining the
importance of embracing technology in the nursing practice. Additionally, the study was
significant since it provided the best ways through which technology was being utilized in
the medical sector; nurses and other medical practitioners who had not yet embraced the
use of some of the various medical technologies would be able to do so. In providing the
benefits and strengths that were associated with use of technology in nursing, the study
3. helped in the marketing of the various technologies. There were challenges too in the
implementation of the various technologies in nursing practice. Some of the equipment
were new while most hospitals were used to the old ones (Huston, 2013). Additionally,
there was also the fear that human interaction in nursing practice was being overlooked in
the implementation of the new technologies. Use of Technology in Facilitating Mobility,
Communication, and Relationships TECHNOLOGY AND NURSING 5 In the new millennium,
use of technology in healthcare facilitates operation processes, interactions, mobility, and
relationships. It is critical for all nurses to be able to use technology in their daily activities
in healthcare centers. This is for the reason that leadership skill set enables them to
understand applications and smart technologies that are being introduced in healthcare
(Wilson, 2017). By 2020, it is expected that every nurse will be able to use health
information technology and health communication strategies to achieve health equity,
improve on healthcare quality, and improve on health outcomes of a population. In addition,
systems will be developed in such a way that they will decision making between
healthcare providers and patients. This technology will social networks where it will be
easy to access and deliver accurate information about healthcare (Wilson, 2017).
Information technology innovations will also be useful especially in interventions that
result in healthy behavior, providing sound principles in program designs, connecting
populations that are in remote areas and culturally diverse, increasing health literacy skills,
and enabling for public health emergencies and decision making on health risks This study
determined that the use of technology in nursing practice as well as the health sector in
general was becoming an integral part of most healthcare organizations. It was important
for nurses and other medical service providers to embrace the use of technology. Among the
key areas where use of technology was found to yield the desirable results included
relationships among medical service providers and other stakeholders within the
healthcare organizations as well as communication enhancement among medical care
providers (Huston, 2013). CA499 Impact of Technology in Nursing Practice
ResearchIntroduction of a number of technological equipment, software and applications
would go a long way in helping nurses develop proper communication skills and build good
working TECHNOLOGY AND NURSING 6 relationships (Huston, 2013). Furthermore,
technology had been of great essence when it came to conveying information between
different departments within the healthcare organizations. Medical applications and
software had been introduced into the healthcare sector and had proved to be very effective
in disease diagnosis, management and prevention (Doswell et al., 2013). Electronic Health
Records Technology has mostly contributed to the development of electronic health
records. It is apparent that any alterations in the documentation process may cause
detrimental effects on the nursing practice. Notably, electronic health record (EHR) can be
described as a digital record that consists of a patient’s date and can be accessed by
authorized personnel from different health facilities. EHR is accessible all through, and
adequate measures have been enforced to ensure that confidentiality is enhanced (Roney,
Westrick, Acri, et al., 2017). President George Bush pledged that by 2014 all Americans
would enjoy the EHR system. When President Obama took over, he backed up his
predecessor’s desire by funding hospitals in implementing the program by a tune of $30
4. billion. For this reason, this significant advancement that was once optional is becoming
mandatory. For instance, many Federal programs have been set up to the implementation
of EHR. This includes employee-training, exchange of information across facilities, capturing
a patient’s accurate information. CA499 Impact of Technology in Nursing Practice Research
