King Arthur and Lancelot
Excalibur The sorcerer Merlin retrieves Excalibur from the Lady of the Lake for
Uther Pendragon, who secures a brief alliance with Gorlois, the Duke of Cornwall.
Uther s lust for Cornwall s wife Igrayne soon ruins the truce, and Merlin agrees to
help Uther to seduce Igrayne on the condition that he gives Merlin whatever results
from his lust. Merlin transforms Uther into Cornwall s likeness with the Charm of
Making. Cornwall s daughter Morgana senses her father s mortal injury during his
assault on Uther s camp and, while Igrayne is fooled by the disguise and Uther
impregnates her, Morgana sees through it, watching Uther as Cornwall dies in battle.
Nine months later, Merlin takes Uther s son Arthur. Uther pursues but is mortally
wounded... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Years later, the undefeated knight Lancelot blocks a bridge and will not move
until he is defeated in single combat, seeking a king worthy of his sword. Lancelot
defeats Arthur and his knights, so Arthur summons Excalibur s magic and defeats
Lancelot, but Excalibur breaks. Arthur is ashamed of abusing the sword s power
to serve his own vanity and throws the sword s remains into the lake, while
admitting his mistake. The Lady of the Lake offers a restored Excalibur to the
king, Lancelot is revived, and Arthur and his knights unify the land. Arthur creates
the Round Table, builds Camelot, and marries Guenevere while Lancelot
confesses that he has also fallen in love with her. Arthur s half sister Morgana, a
budding sorceress and still bitter towards Arthur, becomes apprenticed to Merlin
in hopes of learning the Charm of Making from him. Lancelot stays away from the
Round Table to avoid Guenevere. He meets Perceval, a peasant boy, and takes him
to Camelot to become a squire. Sir Gawain, under Morgana s influence, accuses
Guenevere of driving Lancelot away, driven from us by a woman s desire , forcing
Lancelot to duel Gawain to defend his and Guenevere s honor. The preceding night,
Lancelot duels himself in a nightmare and awakens to find himself wounded by his
own sword. Arthur hastily knights Perceval when Lancelot is late to the duel, but
Lancelot appears just in time and defeats Gawain while nearly dying from his
wounds. Merlin heals him, and he rides
Is John A Coward
To whether or not John is a coward I would have to agree. Certain aspects of certain
decisions he has made have been weak. When faced with confrontation he tends to
move away for back down. John is a coward because he is weak in his decisions, he
is easily scared, and he does not have faith in anything. Some of the choices he
made through out the story have shown to be not strong or brave. When he was
confronted with learning he would stray away and not take on the task. When he
was confronted with his cousins he would back down and give in. When Owen
Meany was disputing him he would give in or give up to the conversation. Towards
the end John didn t want to make many decisions. He wasn t sure what he wanted to

Theoretical Perspectives On Crime
The first theoretical perspectives on crime to be recognized originated around 1764
according to Siegel (2010), with the classical perspective. Founded by Cesare
Beccaria and Jeremy Bentham, the perspective holds that society can deter crime
when the consequences of crime are absolute, harsh, and quickly administered. They
felt that people choose to commit crime after they considered the positive and
negative aspects of the crime, and found that the positives outweigh the
consequences. Modern classical theoryis called choice theory. This perspective was
the major influence on our penal system for the next two hundred years, until late
into the 19th century, giving way to positivism and the scientific methodof studying
human behavior and society. It is from this positivism noted by August Comte,
considered the founder of sociology, it is in this last stage that our current
classifications of theoretical perspectives on crime have emerged. These theories,
grouped into four categories, which are; sociological theories, biological theories,
psychological theories, and social psychological theories, represent different causes
of crime. (Siegel, 2010)The first theoretical perspectives on crime to be recognized

Populism Movement
During the latter half of the nineteenth century, Minnesota was rampant with political
discontent (MNopedia). National movements called for shorter work days,
restrictions on child labor, as well and safer working conditions. This movement,
known as populism, came from citizens want for change. This movement would
shape politics for the rest of the century. This movement would take many forms in a
number of political groups, most notably, the Grange, the Anti Monopoly Party, and
the Alliance. Populismin Minnesota can find its start in it s rural farming
communities. Farmers felt powerless to large railroad monopolies, whose wages
would vary wildly as railroad managers could charge whatever they wanted
(Risjord 147). This common grievance, along with the writings of Oliver Kelley,
helped the Grange to spread. The Grange s goals were to advance methods of
farming, as well as to promote the social and economic needs to farmers in the
Midwest. The Grange movement never had major success, but in 1871 both
candidates in the state election promised state control over railroad rates (Risjord
147). This victory came with it s own issues however, as railroads who charged...

In 1881, the Minnesota Farmers Alliance would form to maintain the same platform
of the Grange. The Alliance would work to defend farmers against large businesses,
while also fighting for industry regulations. It s largest victory would come the same
year it started with the creation of the Minnesota Railroad and Warehouse
Commission (MNopedia). Before this however, The Alliance would also join the
fight with the urban labor movement. With many common concerns of farmers and
factory workers, the Alliance would partner with the Knights of Labor to lobby for
broader regulation of industry (MNopedia). This partnership would become official
in 1980, and it would form the Alliance Labor Union
Relationship Between Intensity And Speed
The relationship between Intensity (speed in mph) and working Heart Rate (bpm)
Research Question
How does the speed (intensity) of running at various speeds ranging from 2mph
6mph affect the working heart rate of a 15 17 year old female rower with a 2k erg
score of under 8:25?
Variables
Type of variableVariable
Independent VariableSpeed (intensity) 2 mph 3 mph 4 mph 5 mph 6 mph
Dependent Variable Working heart rate(bpm) Number of beats per minute
Controlled VariablesTemperature There is a potential increase in the rate of cellular
respiration in the body as most internal enzymes have optimum temperatures. If the
rate of cellular respiration increases, this causes an increase at the rate that blood
must be pumped to the working tissues. Since multiple enzymes that are involved in
cellular respiration tend to have a higher ideal temperature, heart rate would be
directly proportional to temperature. In other words, when the external temperature is
increased, heart rate would increase too no matter what level of physical strength the
individual is at. This variable is relatively difficult to control but in this lab, it will be
done through the consistency of the indoor environment in which the data is collected.
Age Since the heart expands and contracts for every heartbeat, once someone ages,
the elasticity of the heart weakens. This leads to weakening in the contractions and
expansions of the heart while it pumps blood around the body. It has been studied
Genius In Badlands
Perhaps the best thing about Badlands is the way the music itself is creatively put
together and produced. For example, through the use of sound effects in her music,
Halsey makes the songs come to life in a way that completely immerses the reader
in her world. In the song Drive, she uses the sound of a car s engine starting, a
seatbelt alarm, and tires revving on a road to add dimension. In Castle, the
crashing noise of metal on metal can be heard, giving the song an urban feeling,
and in Young God, she records herself saying: Forever cursed in love are the
observant. Forever a slave to the detail, and plays it backwards, giving the beginning
of the song a very ethereal feeling. Another example of genius music is in the use of

Dirt Bike Racing Research Paper
Fresh off a third place, my confidence was pushing me towards victory. I was
competing in California and wanted nothing more than to beat the fast cali kids
who ruled their home track. The first race of the night I started off behind, setting
myself in a comfort zone I made up lost ground, picking off one rider after another
I expressed my skill. On the last lap I saw an opportunity to take first with only a
corner left. I twisted the throttle and my bike pitched me sideways into a loud bang.
I woke up in a hazy ambulance with blurry figures standing over me asking what
seemed to be long drawn out questions. After a painful night and a long trip home,
everything got harder. Going from being one of the best in the country to being
incapable of competing, broke me. My confidence deflated knowing my
competitors were only getting faster. I felt shivers down my back when the doctor
explained that I needed months of healing before I could get back on a dirt bike again.

An Essay About My Partner
There is a concept in Egypt called hamdullah, which means thank God. Even if you
are poor, you still thank God . It is a funny concept, to thank God when you are
poor. It creates a sort of tension within someone why would anyone want to be poor?
And more than that, why would anyone want to thank God for being poor? This is
one of the many ways that my partner, Nouran (Noonoo) Ghannam has portrayed to
me the tension that is so evident among young people in Cairo, Egypt. Noonoo is 22
years old, graduated from the American University in Cairo with a degree in
political science, and lives in Cairo with her family. She lived in Cairo for her entire
life, except when she had to move to other countries around the Middle East for her...

Even though her family may disagree with her political stances, she fosters
discussion with them and is able to make them think more critically and make
better informed decisions by majoring in political science. Second, I portray how
her family s tension influences her internally, by strongly aligning with Nasser but
voting for the Muslim Brotherhood in the 2012 Elections which she participated
in and thus helped move along the outcome. And third, I show how Noonoo tries
to separate her private life from her public life creating more tension in wanting to
be involved in politics, but not allowing herself to pursue a career in it as well.
Nouran has lived her whole live in Cairo, except for the years when she moved
around the Middle East to accommodate for her father s job. She studied at the
American University in Cairo and majored in political science. She still lives with
her family and loves going to the beach. It is important to recognize one of the first
leaders of Egypt, Nasser, when exploring the tensions that are prevalent in Egypt.
Nasser regained control of the Suez Canal, which was previously under the control of
[France and Britain] in 1956. Regaining the Suez Canal and nationalising it was a
mark of his power, and he was thereafter an influential figure in Egypt s history. As
stated before, Noonoo strongly aligns with Nasser because she is in awe of him for
standing up to the colonial powers and fighting for the

Comparing Frankenstein And The Day The Earth Stood
Still
American film has long served as a platform for religious discourse. Creating a
context where existential issues and eternal questions can be explored, film is
reflective of the cultural and religious sentiments of society. The genre of choice has
changed overtime with horror, westerns and later on science fiction all contributing
greatly to this collective, dynamic cinematic religion. Directors James Whale and
Robert Wise in Bride of Frankenstein (1935) and The Day the Earth Stood Still
(1951) respectively, address the collective concerns of a nation regarding the role of
God in a changing world. Times were destruction and devastation led to questions of
is there even is a God? Furthermore in increasingly technological times the auteurs
address the issue of creator verses creation. Each piece reconciles the relationship
between creator and creation in different manners reflecting important cultural and
religious sentiments of the time. Produced in different eras, both Bride of
Frankenstein and The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whale shows that men meddling in the business of Gods leads to ultimate self
destruction and Wise builds on the doubts of a society already questioning God to
replace the sacred with the scientific. These films represent in part the progressive
secularization of society and replacement of the holy with the eternal truths of
science. To the generation of Bride of Frankenstin, science remained within the
realm and plan of God. While the society of The Day the Earth Stood Still found
the alien s flying saucer was more reliable than the prayer. In our modern era as
science continues to grow and religion fights to hang on to a dwindling audience, in
the wake of the next global stir cinema surely will reflect whether we will look to the

Analysis Of Federalist 10 By James Madison
In Federalist 10 by James Madison, he addresses key issues like factions and
democracy, all while focusing on the usefulness of the Constitution and the necessity
of a strong central government, to defend his Federalist ideology. Personally, I agree
with the foundation of his arguments, especially on the topic of forms of government,
as well as the role of representation in our government.
Madison s primary focus throughout the beginning of this paper is factions. He holds
a deep disdain for them as he thinks that they solely focus on themselves, while
hurting other Americans, which is evident in this quote, ( ...united and actuated by
some common impulse of passion, or of interest, adversed to the rights of other
citizens, or to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No matter what the government or its people try to implement to disable factions,
another will always rise due to the nature of man. Destroying liberty is the most
heinous crime imaginable for Madison and I agree, every citizen having their
liberty is what this country was founded on and it should therefore be untouchable.
Madison s idea of giving every citizen the same ideals and interests is blatant
sarcasm to illustrate how factions are unpreventable and simply part of human
nature. No matter what you may do to try and prevent it, there will always be new
movements and ideas that people rally behind and their freedom to do that is part of
what makes America special.
Another focus of Federalist 10 is the purpose of having a republican government,
which is personally the issue raised in Federalist 10 that resonates the most with
me. One of the main benefits of a republic in a large government per Madison, is
the lack of power given to factions. In a large and diverse republic, there are large
amounts of factions across the country, however, they have little power or influence.
While in a direct democracy, there is a small amount of factions, but each faction is
Comparing Araby and Genesis Essay
Parallels between Araby and Genesis
In the Bible, the story of creation occurs in the garden of Eden. The book of Genesis
tells the tale of Adam and Eve, whom God allowed to eat the fruit from any tree in
the garden except for that of the central tree of knowledge. Unfortunately, with the
serpent s deceitful encouragement, Eve enticed Adam to eat from that banned tree.
The fruit opened Adam s eyes to the reality that he was naked (Gen. 3:7 20).
Interestingly, the second paragraph of Araby alludes to the Genesis account of Eden.
The wild garden behind the house contained a central apple tree and a few straggling
bushes. Aside from commenting on the eroded isle of Ireland, Joyce uses this allusion
to arrange the entire ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Later the narrator tells of how he follows her to school and how he thinks about her
constantly, much like an adolescent in love would do. This feeling is not foreign to
any reader; during the youth of our lives, we too have desired someone at a point
beyond normality.
Adam, the narrator, is obviously infatuated with Mangan s sister. Similar to what an
adolescent would do, the narrator trusts his love and will do anything for her. Such
is the case when discussing Araby, a bazaar. As she cannot attend due to a prior
engagement, the narrator agrees to get her something if he goes. Thus, the narrator
offers to do something beyond what he would normally do. Since the first mention
of Araby is the narrator s conversation with Mangan s sister, the bazaar apparently is
neither a normal nor an extraordinarily popular event. Coupled with the aunt s
surprise at the narrator s desire to visit the bazaar, a reader receives the feeling that
the narrator would not have otherwise gone to Araby.
Eve has shown Adam the fruit, and Adam is weighing its opportunities. Without
desire for schoolwork and little more for play, the narrator had hardly any patience
with the serious work of life, which...seemed to [him] child s play, ugly monotonous
child s play. Clearly, the narrator is enthralled by Araby. The Eastern connotation to

Systems Administration And Network Services
1.Goal After two labs focusing purely on the Linux side of systems administration
and network services, this third lab puts Windows into the spotlight and how it
deals with configuring services as compared to the previous RHEL based
configurations. Many of the same tasks which were completed using a RHEL 7
virtual machine in lab 2, such as setting up DHCP and DNS, are repeated in this
lab on a Windows 2012 Datacenter virtual machine. This is done not only to show
the differences in service administration, but also to indirectly teach students the
steps as well as precautions that need to be taken when integrating in different
enterprise server operating system families which very well could be running the
same network services, such as in the case of this lab. Instead of merely just
installing the same services and letting the clients make decisions on what data to
receive from who, this lab also presents the challenge of making these two very
different operating systems work together when the time comes to configure the
DNS server on the Windows VM. A major point I took away from this is that while
the Microsoft and ISC implementation of a DNS server can be seen as widely
different, the integration of the two is very smooth and easy due to both of them
still following the base rules of the DNS protocol as well as framework found in the
numerous RFC s which describe it. Active Directory, which is also installed on the
server, was review at this point from multiple different
Synthesis Essay On Minor E Big 5
According to Professor Allen Schick, In a fundamental sense, the government is
what it spends (Document A). There is a great deal of planning that goes into the
federal budget each year, but yet it s still not enough to satisfy every need. The truth
is that however much money or planning that goes into the budget, people will still
feel that we are spending too much in some areas and not enough in others. It is the
government s responsibility to put in place a budget that satisfies the needs of the
people and follows the preamble to the Constitution. Many people believe that we are
not slicing the pie correctly and that the budget needs to be looked over and revised.
In each of the three budget clusters, the US government should make minor... Show

The Little Guys consists of natural resources and environment, general science and
space, energy, FBI, and National Park services. Like I have stated previously, more
funding needs to go towards energy. There is only so much oil left in the Earth and
it has already started wars. America needs to stop its dependence on oil and the
only way to do so is to put funding towards research to develop alternatives. Another
area that I feel doesn t get enough attention is NASA, which only received $31
billion in 2012 (Document E). NASA has been credited for many discoveries and
is partially responsible for why America is so great. When people think about
America in the mid 1900s, they think about the space race. They remember how
America was able to prevail over another world superpower, Russia, and beat them
to the moon. The US has always been considered great and it has been because of
things like reaching the moon first. Even taking an extra %5 from either of the Big
Five to put towards funding for NASA would be worth it to me. NASA would help
America get that image that we once had but
Importance Of Equity In Education
Equity means removing barriers and giving everyone an equal starting place. It is
different from equality as it involves much more than just treating everyone the
same. The General Commission on Religion and Race, or GCORR of the United
Methodist Church states that the social structures of society have been built in such
a way that discrimination lives within the structures themselves. The example that is
given is voting. Equality is when everyone has the right to vote while equity is
everyone having the same ability to vote. Over 2,000 years ago, Jesus set a
precedent: He included women in a time when they were considered lesser.
Unfortunately, this precedent is not followed in many parts of the world. Women s
equity is important to everyone. The best way to achieve this is through education.
Educating women is easier said and done as they are still considered the lesser
gender in many countries. A UNESCO report from the United Nationsstates that
twice as many girls as boys are unlikely to ever enter school. An article from Brighter
Children outlines the five major barriers to children s educations in developing
countries while an article from Share America covers the benefits of educating
women worldwide. I need a transitional sentence here. :/ The UNESCO report
states that eight million boys will be unlikely to ever step foot in a school. This is an
alarming number, but is twice as good as the 16 million girls who will be unlikely to
ever step foot in a

With advance in mobile computing, data is often delivered on to the internet,
through wireless network, via provider s telecom network. Using mobile
computing several users can access their individual internet sites, users can make
calls, text to friends, watch movies, play games from app store, use GPS from their
smartphones. This technology involves parallel processing of different threads for
digital voice and data operations. Based on older telephone models mobile phones
are designed to transmit voices. In first generation, cellphones are basically radios,
they are used to transmit analog signals to a cell tower through air. In the second
generation, voices were digitized but sent in the same way through circuit switching
network, which establishes a connection between two phones till the connection lasts.
1. Analog Cellular technology: (1G) In first generation the radio telephony system is
used. At that time a mobile station and a telephone operator are involved in the
communication process. First when a person makes call then it goes to the mobile
base station and then from there a mobile operator used to connect to the other
person based on the request of who has called. Then the call will be connected to the
receiver. This long process is done in the 1G systems. This communication is done
using radio waves. This technology mainly uses Frequency division multiple access
(FDMA). As we communicate through radio channels data is transmitted in
Zen and the Enlightened Mind Essay
Zen and the Enlightened Mind
I have forgotten everything. I don t remember a single word (Masunaga 36). This is
the mind of one who seeks the Way. In A Primer of Soto[JS1] Zen Dogen explains
the Way of the Buddha and stresses the importance of sitting in meditation or zazen as
a means of reaching the manifestation of wholeness. The manifestation of wholeness
is a state in which one abandons both mind and body and empties oneself of
ignorance, delusions, and dualistic modes of thinking. One who is free from
dualistic modes of being enters a world in which both subject and object exist. This
is a non objective mode of being where all self centeredness has been emptied, where
words and concepts are used not to divide but to unite, the ... Show more content on

In the practice of the Way, Dogen places a strong emphasis on zazen or sitting in
meditation. One who meditates properly realizes that the practice of meditation and
Enlightenment are one in the same. In A Primer of Soto Zen, Dogen states that
zazen is the practice of the Buddha. Zazen is the ultimate practice. This is indeed
the True Self (Masunaga 44). In the practice of zazen one empties the self and
enters a mode of being that is in itself Enlightenment. The experience of
Enlightenment within zazen reveals that the entire world is filled with Buddha
nature. This is something that the unenlightened eye does not see but the
Enlightened eye is able to grasp immediately and intuitively (Earhart 101). Thus,
Dogen believes that life is most real when a person sits in meditation. He says;
Only when you sit straight and look into yourself, does it become clear that [you
yourself are changing and] the objective world has a reality apart from you (Tsunda
246). Therefore during meditation one is free from a individual centered or
egocentric position which distorts reality. The Enlightened being or the one who
practices zazen will see things, including the self as they truly are. Dogen realizes the
power of zazen thus, he teaches that students should devote all their efforts to this

The Tipping Point By Malcom Gladwell
In The Tipping Point by Malcom Gladwell, Gladwell discusses how ideas are
spread as a result of social epidemics. Through his concepts of The Law of the Few,
The Stickiness Factor, and The Power of Context, we can examine how certain sticky
trends spread through our society. The trend I will be examining now is the current
manbun epidemic. The so called man bun came to be the latest fashion trend for men
due in part to the internet and to other factors as discussed in Gladwell s The Tipping
Point. 2015 was a year of many different trends spreading throughout society, but
arguably none more polarizing than that of the man bun. Men growing their hair
out long is nothing new, but 2015 was populated with men of all ages pulling their
hair into buns at the top of their head. We have now reached a point in history
where a Google search for man bun will reveal headlines such as Official Site for
Manbuns and Long Hair or Am I Man Enough for a Man Bun? , and advertisements
for Clip On Instant Man Bun. How did we get to this point? A few years prior to
this and such a search may have revealed nothing more than an ironic desert recipe.
How did our society get to this point, then? According to Gladwell, trends like this
that become popular overnight due to their ability to spread like the flu. Such trends

Use Of Stereotypes In Michael Blake s Dances With Wolves
Throughout history people of different races and ethnic backgrounds have struggled
to get along and accept each other. In Michael Blake s novel, Dances With Wolves,
Lieutenant John Dunbar s life changes after he becomes involved with the Comanche
Indians. After a short period of time, both Dunbar and the Indians learn to trust each
other. Through literary terms such as foreshadowing, symbolism, and similes, Blake
proves the idea that love, friendship, belonging, and connection can be found between
people of different backgrounds and races.
Foreshadowing is effectively used in order to prove that a strong relationship can be
formed between people of different backgrounds. Blake foreshadows the love and
marriage of Stands With A Fist and Dances... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

He chooses to use these similes so readers can understand the relationship between
Dunbar and the Indians. For example, the author utilizes a simile to describe
Dunbar s relation with Wind In His Hair and Stone Calf. They were as smug as
schoolboys (Blake 275). Blake compares the relationship between the Indian
warriors and Dunbar to schoolboys. By doing this, Blake implies that the men are
comfortable together and and accepting of each other. Also, at this point in the book,
Wind In His Hair and Stone Calf joke around with Dunbar about his love for Stands
With A Fist. This proves how far the men have come in their relationship. At the
beginning of the novel, the Indians would have been against any romantic
relationship between an Indian woman and a white man. However, by the end of the
book, they do not pay attention to the race of Dunbar; rather, they care about his kind
personality and the other favorable qualities he possesses. To continue, Blake uses
many other quotes to demonstrate the strong relationship between the Indians and
Dunbar. Then it jumped into his eyes, and like the only boy in class who knows the
answer, he smiled at his teacher (Blake 209). This quote tells the readers many details
about Dunbar. By mentioning that he smiles, the quote proves is happy and excited
to be with the Indians. Also, by comparing Dunbar to the only boy in class who know
the answer, it tells readers that Dunbar is wise. He is smart not only for guessing
correctly what the Indians are trying to communicate to him, but he is also smart for
building this relationship with the Indians. Like the first example, this quote refers to
a school setting. Dunbar smiling shows that he has a good relationship with his
teacher Stands With A Fist. In addition, the quote references the theme because
teachers teach people from all different backgrounds. It shows the strong connection
between the student and the teacher in this case Dunbar
Demand For Labour During The Short Run
DEMAND FOR LABOUR IN THE SHORT RUN
The event, where a firm produces only one product (Q) using the two inputs labour
(L) and capital (K), explains the general principles that determine labour demand. The
technological relationship between output and any blend of inputs is given by the
production function: Q = F (K, L)
The quantity of capital is fixed at K = K0 in the short run. Hence, the production
function is a function of labour (L), keeping K fixed. The amount of labour
services is variable. Changing the number of people hired, or changing the working
hours of each employee, or both, can vary the amount of labour services. However,
here we assume that there is no distinction between the variations in the number of
people hired and working hours. This trait of the labour demand is discussed in the
Chapter 6. Also, the possibility of the labour being a quasi fixed factor in the short
run is discussed later.
The output of the firm in the short run and the employment decisions are used to
derive the demand for the labour in the short run. There are two decisions that result
from the supposition of profit maximization. First, the firm will continue to operate
as long as it covers its variable costs. This is because of the fact that the firm will
have to pay the fixed costs, i.e. the sunk costs whose size has no effect on what the
most profitable activity is at a particular time, regardless of whether the firm operates
or not. The second decision says that if the firm

they end up wasting it in an unexpected way. This is a story of one of those time

Schneider is born in the town Augsburg on Bobinger street. He was the perfect
German, he had bright blonde hair and sea blue eyes. Ralph grew up in a small
house with his loving parents, Helga and Gerhard along with his sister Ilse, who
was born 8 years after him. Ralph had a simple life with no obstacles standing in

left with his father. On that final night they had together Ralph s father told Ralph a
story. The story was of a boy much like himself, whose father had also left for war.
This boy was given a watch from his father to keep until he got back from war. He
explained how the boy looked at the watch every day to see the passing time go by
and think that he was one minute closer to reuniting with his father once again. The
story went on about how the boy never lost hope, and his father eventually came
home. Then they lived happily ever after. Unfortunately, I am reluctant to inform you
that Ralph s story does not end in a happy ending.
The next day Ralph woke up to a damaged watch on his wrist; immediately he
sprinted into the living room only to find his little sister and mother crying. His
father was gone, and instead he had a watch. The next couple days were tough, his
mother closed the tailor shop and they were living on the army salary. After two
weeks since his father s departure, the old watch that Ralph had received stopped
working. Ralph freaked out, he needed to see the time moving on. His family did not
own any other watches and could not afford to buy one, forcing him into a tough
situation, he had to do something. Without thinking he went to fetch his two friends

Interplanetary Dust and Orbital Debris
INTERPLANETARY DUST AND ORIBITAL DEBRIS
Introduction
The interplanetary dust particles are sized in between few cm to molecules. The dust
particles are charged with +ve charge due to solar wind. The positive charge helps in
reacting to the Lorentz force. The interplanetary dust grain population mainly
originates in the main asteroid belt that is located between 2 to 4 astronomical units
(AU) from the Sun. Dust forms in collisions between bodies of different sizes and
energies or may be carried in by comets. 10 % of the dust formed by collisions in
this area is transported towards the Sun via the Poynting Robertson drag. The
remaining 90 % leave the solar system hyperbolic orbits as newly formed interstellar
dust. Dust grain orbits are mainly influenced by gravity. Their orbital motion is
Keplerian. Most of the dust grains stemming from the asteroid belt orbit the Sun with
low eccentricities and, thus, near circular orbits.
Material properties of IDP

Before the standard is imported into the system, the standard will have to first be
formatted in a way that is recognized by the software. This is subjected to
availability of such a standard. If such format of the standard is not available in the
industry, the company might have to reproduce the standard in order to import the
standard into the software. This would take an incredibly long timeand it will not be
worthwhile if the standard is only used once. This can happen in an overseas project
where the client specifies a certain standard to be used which is uncommon.

Next, a special checking system could perhaps be integrated such that checks can run
automatically to check if measurement units or description of the quantities have
been tagged properly. This would help the quantity surveyor to start taking off
immediately after receiving the model instead of realizing it only upon tagging or
when the quantities are exported to the BQ. This is to reduce time wasted on checks
and to increase productivity.
Instead of exporting the BQ to a normal excel sheet, the quantities can be exported to
a program similar to excel but one that would allow certain automation that would
allow a change in all related figures when one such figure is changed. For example,
when a quantity for doors are changed, the summary and thus, the total quantity
should be changed as well. This is to reduce the chances of error when changes are
made.
Lastly, I would suggest that there is an automatic way to integrate the substructure
BQ with the superstructure BQ. One that would be able to integrate without error.
This is especially important when the two models have the same elements in common
and ought to be placed together in the same category. Although this can be done
manually, it will be error prone, affecting the quality due to carelessness and other
human error. As mentioned previously, such changes will affect more than one tab on
the excel sheet which may be easily overlooked affecting many of the other quantities

Summary Of The Tale Of Genji

Text Analysis
The Tale of Genji In early eleventh century Japan, circa the year 1021, noblewoman
and lady in waiting Murasaki Shikibu published The Tale of Genji, widely
renowned as the world s first novel. The work is set in Shikibu s contemporary
Heian period of Japan, in which political and social ranks dictated society s
functioning and heavy prejudices were placed on those deemed unsuitable for the
affairs of public court life. Women fell under this umbrella of outsiders, meant to
live primarily behind screens and closed doors only to be seen by their father and
husband. It is believed that Shikibu wrote such a tale of forbidden romance and
whimsical court affairs to bring life to her fellow women who shared in such a
limited existence. This single piece of literature manages to wholly represent the
Heian age of Japanese history, embodying the period s culture and seamlessly
incorporating a broad spectrum of themes of civilization. The Tale of Genjirevolves
around the illegitimate son of Japan s emperor and his favorite concubine Kiritsubo.
Kiritsubo is easily influenced by the critics and judgments of the court, falls ill, and
dies of jealously. With her having no concrete political standing, the emperor removes
their son from court and assigns him to the commoner Genji clan (thus giving the boy
his name) and names Suzaku, the son he had with Lady Kokiden as the royal prince.

Outsourcing of Aviation Maintenance Practices and the Effects of Globalization

May 16, 2016 Abstract
Within the aviation industry outsourced maintenance practices have become
increasingly more prevalent to maintain current assets. There is generally three
processes currently being utilized by the airline industry: outsourcing specific
maintenance needs, in house operations, and lastly, a hybrid approach, which entails
a combination of outsourcing and in house. How these are applied and to what extent
are driven by each company and their own unique needs. This paper compares and
contrasts the advantages and disadvantages of outsourcing maintenance practices as
well as the effects of globalization on the airline industry. Outsourcing of Aviation
Maintenance Practices and the Effects of Globalization
Outsourcing is defined as the process utilized when a company decides to subcontract
its business processes or functions to another company; therefore, instead of hiring
employees to perform a task, the company (outsourcer) enters into an outsourcing
arrangement with another firm to provide these services under contract for a certain
price and period (Motiwalla Thompson, 2012, p.268). This paper expands on the
notions of outsourcing and the effects it has had on the airline industry by briefly
discussing the advantages and disadvantages associated with outsourcing and the

The Book of Proverbs Essay
The Book of Proverbs
The book of Proverbs explains the wisdom of the Lord and the duties towards God
and our parents. We should praise God for his wisdom because He created us and the
world. God tells us that we need to be prepared when we serve Him because He will
judge us when we die. We need to accept whatever falls upon us and make the best
of it like God would want us to do. The book of Proverbs tells us that we need to
cling on to Him which to me that means we should follow His teachings and do
whatever it takes to be with God so we can share in
God s life in heaven. When something bad happens to us and we don t know how to

That to me is one of the biggest commandments that God gave us. In chapter four it
talks about the poor. I think that most of the poor did not choose the way they live
but they do need our help most of all.
We can help the poor by not turning away from them but by helping them with what
they need, like giving them food or water, by giving them shelter and clothes, and
by helping them turn to God for help too because that way they can try and live the
way God wants them to live. There are also poor people who bring it onto
themselves by maybe dropping out of school, quitting their jobs, running away
from their homes, and by taking big risks. But they too need help and we can help
them by doing all that we can for them. Chapter four also talks about the rewards of
wisdom. I know that if we help people who need help then God will in return will
let us be with him in heaven. But if we don t then we will eventually regret the
things that we could of done in our lives on earth when we are judged. We also need
to ignore the evils so that we don t fall into sin.
God tells us not to show favoritism because it is to our own discredit. I think when
we do show favoritism that is when people will use us and that is when it is to our
discredit. He also tells us that we should not refrain from speaking at the proper time
and not hide our wisdom. God wants us to use our wisdom and our talents that is
why he gave them to

Social Categofication Of Social Stratification In The...
The question I chose to respond to is to explain stratification in the United States.
Social stratification refers to a societies categorization of its people into rankings
of socioeconomic tiers based on factors such as wealth, income, race, education,
and power (Introduction to Sociology, pp.189). Societies classes are based off of
layers, consisting of people and earth s resources which are unevenly distributed.
Individuals with the most resources make up the top layer of social structure, and
those with fewer resources represent the lower levels of social class. Social
stratificationis created and supported by society as a whole even when individuals
fight against inequalities. Although different societies have different factors which
effect stratification, many societies are based often on an economic system based on
wealth and income. Wealth is defined as the net value of money and assets a person
has, and income, is a persons wages or investment dividends (Introduction to
Sociology, pp. 191). Therefore, wealth is mostly inherited money from previous
generations, another way to be said, money a person was born into. On the other
hand, income is the amount of money an individual makes and is more likely based
off individual success. Social stratification reflects an unequal distribution of
resources. For example the United
States has a higher standard of living than poorer countries such as Africa, East Asia,
and India.

Dysgraphia is a learning disability that affects writing abilities. It can manifest itself
as difficulties with spelling, poor handwriting, and putting thoughts on paper. There is
no single test to diagnose dysgraphia, but it can be indicated based on the results from

Scientist Practitioner Perspectives, there is a process to determining dysgraphia,
beginning with obtaining a developmental, medical, educational, and family history

The student then presses a key according to whether the numbers match. In Number
Comparison, the student is shown two numbers, and asked to select the larger of the
two. This is a relatively easy task, but the speed at which students select the answer
can contribute to the diagnosis of dyscalculia. The final test is the Academic
Achievement Test. This is a test with addition for younger students, with
multiplication added for older students. Basic math problems are shown, with the
answer. Students must decide whether or not the answer given is correct. Like the
other tests, the problems are easy, but the reaction time is a key determinant in the
diagnosis. The results at completion are given as a standard score, and are displayed
on the computer in printable form. Dyspraxia Dyspraxia is the partial loss of the

Hamilton s Questions Regarding Public Opinion
We have studied a wide array of topics during this class. However, for the purpose
of this paper, I will be confronting week six s questions regarding public opinion. I
will first discuss what the Federalists believed the role of public opinion was in our
system of government. I will then discuss what public opinion s role has become in
today s system of government. Then I will consider whether governing by public
opinion is hurtful or harmful to proper governance. I will then follow up with why
governing by the polls is an abandonment of our republican form of government and
conclude with the why our official should not govern through public opinion. The
Federalists believed that many of our legislators should be in some way separated...

The role of these polls has become more of an instruction manual for representatives
than anything else. They vote according to the polls and what public sentiment is at
the time. According to Sooner Polls, public opinion polls help guide policy by giving
decision makers impartial information about what the public wants. The role of
public opinion polls has become rather important in our system of government. These
polls have mixed together public opinion and legislative action. For example, there is
a daily presidential approval rating tracker that directly ties presidential action to
public opinion. According to America s Failing Experiment, polls have magnified the
increasing democratization and mixing of public opinion and presidential action. The
role of these polls has become to directly tie the public with their legislatures and the
executive. These polls have further magnified our representatives preference in being
delegates rather than trustees. Our representatives no longer represent what they
believe to be our best interests, but rather what we tell them our best interests are.
These polls have served to erode the distance that the founders placed in the
constitution between the people and their Senators, Executive, and

critics and scholars have argued that her plays simply just offer celebrations of
libertine masculinity. (Staves, 2004: 81)
The Carnival setting in the play gives the characters a freedom, particularly sexual
freedom, they would not otherwise possess. When asked by her governess what
she will do at Carnival, Hellena replies, That which all the World does, as I am
told, be as mad as the rest, and take all innocent Freedom. (Owens, 1996: 268) In
the play, the madness and freedom of Carnival is produced by the masquerading
element of the festival. As Belville points out about the masks he and Willmore are
wearing, Whatever Extravagances we commit in these Faces, our own may not be
oblig d to answer em. (Owens, 1996: 275) This kind of environment is especially
dangerous for a licentious character like Willmore. In fact, Willmore s sexual desire
threatens to become violent almost immediately after he comes ashore at Naples. A
woman dressed like a courtesan shuns Willmore s advances and Willmore quickly
becomes aggressive, his sexual desire restrained only by the more honorable Belville
who beseeches him to use no Violence here. The masquerade setting in

Multiple Myeloma Essay
What if patients that suffer from Multiple Myeloma could finally have a treatment
opinion with the aid of the immunology hormone, Thymosin Гџ 4? This hematologic
(blood) disease has no cure at this specific time, but there are some factors that
increase the susceptibility of contracting this disease. The factors include being over
the age of 65, hereditary disposition and race also, people that already suffer a blood
disease will probably contract MM. Why is trying to treat MM so important?
Multiple Myeloma is stated as a cancerthat is formed in a specific type of white blood
cell (plasma cells). The main role of plasma cells is to secrete antibody that
recognizes and attacks germs. These malignant plasma cells result in an increase of
immunoglobulin components, most commonly IgG. This up regulation of IgG can
ultimately cause kidney problems. To fully understand how this hormone may help
patients that suffer from this disease first, I want to look at how the immune system
interacts with hormones. Then, discuss what Thymosin Гџ 4 is and the effects on the
inhibition of MM.
Hormones are important chemical messengers that drive the immune system during
the pubescence period of live. Hormones play vital roles in the body for example;

The Song Is Relevant Today
Imagine a world where there is no war, famine does not exist, the poor have all the
money they need, and everybody does their part to help others. This to me is the
world the song describes, this is something that is not too late to achieve. This is a
topic that is still relevant today because peace is a goal everybody strives to achieve,
but no matter how hard people try to achieve peace it is always just out of grasp.
The general idea of the song is you can make the world a better place for those who
still can enjoy it if you just be kind and help others, or to sum it up peace. For
example in the song it says ... There are people dying If you care enough for the
living Make a better place for you and for me this to me means that their are
Compare And Contrast Ps4 Vs Xbox
Is the xbox one better or is it the ps4 they are both great systems but which one is
the best.I prefer the xbox one but most people disagree ask my brother lets see is
xbox better or ps4. The Xbox One features voice recognition software that powers
the console. This makes it easy for the user to give the Xbox One clear voice
commands which it can then carry out, such as Xbox on, or Xbox, TV . Due to the
new built in Kinect, the Xbox One can also be controlled with hand movements,
like a simple swipe of the hand, or by grabbing and dragging things. The price of

The interface on the PS4 s controller is a capacitive touchpad, meaning that it can
support two touches at once, and can therefore be used as a form of a controller
for gaming as seen in the game War Thunder. Yes they are both similar systems like
xbox one and ps4 both have great graphics and top edge systems. They both have
the best games created for any system these systems go head to head to see which
one is the best but both are so good they can t tell. The PS4 is obviously better than
the xbox one the graphics we have the Playstation VR, and we have a gamepad on the
controller with a camera so u can play even better. PS4 obviously beats the xbox

Difference Between Actus Reus And Mens Rea
INTRODUCTION
Actus reus and mens rea are the two most fundamental element necessary to prove
that a crime is committed However, some crimes such as those which fall under the
strict liability category does not require a proof of mens rea. It is said that within the
actus reus, there must be both a voluntary act and a consequent result. There are,
however, some exceptions to the voluntary act requirement known as omissions. This
essay will focus on the duties of care under which the actus reus of a crime can be
committed through omission. However, there are some crimes that cannot be
committed through omission e.g. assault and constructive manslaughter.
Generally speaking the law punishes positive act. However, when an omission
contributes to an offence and a duty to act can be established, criminal liability can
occur. Some countries such as the United States of America have what is known as

failure to disclose information . However, in some situation the common law or
statute has recognized an offence where a duty imposed by criminal liability on
omission is neglected. In the case of Dytham the defendant, a police officer stood by
whilst a bouncer kicked a man to death. The defendant was charged with the offence
of misconduct although the defendant argued that the offence could not be
committed by an omission as misconduct requires a positive act or an element of
corruption. However, the court of appeal upheld his conviction by stating that as a
police officer, the defendant had a duty to the society which is protecting
Supply and Demand Paper

I have had the personal experience of purchasing my college education. Picking a
college was very challenging and I had huge amounts of pros and cons to weigh
throughout my decision process. I knew that going to college and receiving a college
education would be a wise investment and would better benefit me in the future
financially. The supply and demand for a college education has changed over the
years, thirty years ago a person might not have gone to college or paid for a college
education and degree but that person still had a good chance of finding a steady job
and becoming successful. An example of this would be my ... Show more content on

The financial status that a person carries can often determine the supply and
demand of receiving a college education due to the fact that if a person obtains a
college education they would be able to make and earn more money. Making more
money is a plus but another factor to think about is school loans which will put a
person in debt until the loans are paid off, so it is important for people to weigh
their pros and cons when it comes to going to college. Now with the growing
technology and job demands receiving a college education has increased in
demand. People want to be successful in their careers and want a bigger income so
a college education is the wisest way to become successful. The supply for college
is always elevated and increases each year because more and more people realize
that receiving a college education is valuable and beneficial. Two substitutes for a
college education would be self educating which is where a person can get books,
do research, and learn along with teaching themselves on a particular topic,
business field, certain materials and information. Self educating is what some
people might prefer if they do not have the drive or determination, along with
finances to be able to go to college and earn a college degree. Another substitute
would be if a person would ask their job to sponsor or pay for classes, training, or
even college courses to be able to have the opportunity to move up in the business and
become more successful.
Water Fluoridation Must Stop Essay
Fluoride compounds have been added to water supplies since as early as the 1950s
because claims were made to support fluoride s use as a cavity preventer. However,
studies conducted even decades before have shown that fluoride is an extremely
hazardous substance that should be completely avoided. These views or claims about
fluorideare just too contradictory, both cannot be true. Fluoride has hidden dangers
that not enough people know about and should be removed from the water supplies
despite false reports that it is actually beneficial, and the practice of water fluoridation
should be completely eliminated.
First a little bit about fluoride needs to be known. These are the unarguable facts
about fluoride. Fluoride is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Naturally fluoridated areas preceded the field trials since fluoride occurs naturally in
some areas. (Oral) Communities with naturally occurring fluoride in water supplies
were chosen for the trials, because results could be seen in these communities
without so many years of testing. The studies showed that fluoride reduces dental
caries to some extent depending on the amount of ingestion. These positive results
lead to water fluoridation becoming a popular practice throughout civilized areas of
the world. Putting a substance like fluoride in municipal water supplies is a good
way to medicate many people at a time, since everybody drinking from the water
supply would have a constant intake of fluoride. The big advantage of water
fluoridation is that it benefits all residents in a community regardless of age, socio
economic status, education or employment. (Kirshen)
The number one purpose for water fluoridation is for the promotion of healthy and
strong teeth. As it turns out fluoride doesn t even help with teeth, in fact it causes
many problems with their formation. According to Dean Murphy DDS in his book
The Devil s Poison: Fluorotic enamel is more porous and structurally weaker having
a wear resistance that is commonly 40% to 60% of normal. (Murphy 57) This is
because fluoride interferes with collagen producing enzymes leaving a faulty matrix
for minerals to accumulate and crystallize. (Murphy 57) All pro fluoride advocates

On particular piece of evidence that can be shown to the FTC is in that the elasticity
of demand either remained unaffected by this merger or that it increased. Taking
this into consideration, if a comparison of price elasticity was done before and
after the merger, there would be proof that consumers still had a large amount of
substitutes available in the market. Depending on the type of market present, such
as a Global Market, it would be relatively simple to prove the wide array of
substitutes that were available to the consumers. This particular merger may have
been done for what every company is looking for, which is cost savings. One other
form of evidence to be provided to the FTC is a statement of costs, which should
show costs before and after the merge.

McDonald s make a poor business decision when they had the consumer purchase
the fries as well as the drink in order to receive the promotional price. In this
particular economy, if McDonald s was smart, they would have created a new

on. This would have given McDonald s a clear advantage. With this particular
move, several problems were present in utilizing game theory to predict their profits.
With the onslaught of fast food corporations, McDonald s has endless rivals in the

Post-colonialism in The Hunger Games
The success of the books, The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins, is
remarkable considering that the storyline is of a game in which children kill each
other. The books have reached iconic status in America and is an anomaly in the
Young Adult Literature genre in that it has a female protagonist yet is popular with
male and female readers of all ages. Collins wrote the series in response to her fears
of the blurred lines between Reality Shows and televised news events (Blasingame
726). The dystopian world portrayed in the book is rife with Post colonial themes.
There are many opinions about the proper definition of Post colonialismeven going
so far as to argue about whether the prefix post should be added to the word
Colonialism. For the sake of clarity, I will use the term Post colonialism as it is
broadly defined in Post colonial Studies: The Key Concepts, the effects of
colonization on cultures and societies (Ashcroft, Griffiths and Tiffin 186). Many
critics such as Bhaba, Spivak and Said define this critical theory as predominately
characterized by race; however there are other critics, such as Jessica Langer, who
believe that the injustices perpetrated by colonialism, in all its forms (152) should be
considered in Post colonial studies. I will argue that the Post colonial concepts of
Hybridity, Othering and Imperialism go beyond racial barriers and reverberate
throughout the The Hunger Games.
The novel tells the story of a future in which North America has
Similarities Between The Greed And The Iliad
Although both of these stories are Homer s Greek Epics, they differ in great
measures. In the Iliad, the Gods play a very prominent role in the course of the
poem. While in the Odyssey, the Gods do not play a major role and serve more as a
spiritual guide on a long journey.
In the Iliad, the humans are at the mercy of the Gods, meaning that whatever the
Gods want to happen will happen regardless of the humans. The Greek Gods in The
Iliad are split amongst themselves, with Zeus being the only God who is not on a
definite side. It is commonly noted that the mortals in the Iliad are serving more as
a pawn piece on a chess board controlled by the Gods. The Gods seemingly use the
mortals to settle their own disputes. The Trojan war, which the Iliad is based on, is
said to have started from Paris declaring that Aphrodite is the prettiest of the
goddesses. Aphrodite in turn, awarded Paris, Helen of Troy, who was married to
Menelaus. Menelaus then asked for help from the Greeks, and ignited the Trojan war.
In book 1, it is mentioned that and when he(the old man) had gone some distance the
priest prayed to Lord Apollo, son of Silken Haired Leto:
....grant me this prayer:
Let the Danaans pay for my tears with your arrows!(Homer 1.41 50). It is later
mentioned that for nine days, Apollo s arrows rained death on the camp. Later in
book 1, Agamemnon and Achilles were starting to fight when Athena intervened. The
Epic states, Athena s eyes flared through the sea s salt haze. I came to

  • 2. King Arthur and Lancelot Excalibur The sorcerer Merlin retrieves Excalibur from the Lady of the Lake for Uther Pendragon, who secures a brief alliance with Gorlois, the Duke of Cornwall. Uther s lust for Cornwall s wife Igrayne soon ruins the truce, and Merlin agrees to help Uther to seduce Igrayne on the condition that he gives Merlin whatever results from his lust. Merlin transforms Uther into Cornwall s likeness with the Charm of Making. Cornwall s daughter Morgana senses her father s mortal injury during his assault on Uther s camp and, while Igrayne is fooled by the disguise and Uther impregnates her, Morgana sees through it, watching Uther as Cornwall dies in battle. Nine months later, Merlin takes Uther s son Arthur. Uther pursues but is mortally wounded... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Years later, the undefeated knight Lancelot blocks a bridge and will not move until he is defeated in single combat, seeking a king worthy of his sword. Lancelot defeats Arthur and his knights, so Arthur summons Excalibur s magic and defeats Lancelot, but Excalibur breaks. Arthur is ashamed of abusing the sword s power to serve his own vanity and throws the sword s remains into the lake, while admitting his mistake. The Lady of the Lake offers a restored Excalibur to the king, Lancelot is revived, and Arthur and his knights unify the land. Arthur creates the Round Table, builds Camelot, and marries Guenevere while Lancelot confesses that he has also fallen in love with her. Arthur s half sister Morgana, a budding sorceress and still bitter towards Arthur, becomes apprenticed to Merlin in hopes of learning the Charm of Making from him. Lancelot stays away from the Round Table to avoid Guenevere. He meets Perceval, a peasant boy, and takes him to Camelot to become a squire. Sir Gawain, under Morgana s influence, accuses Guenevere of driving Lancelot away, driven from us by a woman s desire , forcing Lancelot to duel Gawain to defend his and Guenevere s honor. The preceding night, Lancelot duels himself in a nightmare and awakens to find himself wounded by his own sword. Arthur hastily knights Perceval when Lancelot is late to the duel, but Lancelot appears just in time and defeats Gawain while nearly dying from his wounds. Merlin heals him, and he rides

When faced with confrontation he tends to move away for back down. John is a coward because he is weak in his decisions, he is easily scared, and he does not have faith in anything. Some of the choices he made through out the story have shown to be not strong or brave. When he was confronted with learning he would stray away and not take on the task. When he was confronted with his cousins he would back down and give in. When Owen Meany was disputing him he would give in or give up to the conversation. Towards the end John didn t want to make many decisions. He wasn t sure what he wanted to do with his life and as he did

  • 5. Theoretical Perspectives On Crime The first theoretical perspectives on crime to be recognized originated around 1764 according to Siegel (2010), with the classical perspective. Founded by Cesare Beccaria and Jeremy Bentham, the perspective holds that society can deter crime when the consequences of crime are absolute, harsh, and quickly administered. They felt that people choose to commit crime after they considered the positive and negative aspects of the crime, and found that the positives outweigh the consequences. Modern classical theoryis called choice theory. This perspective was the major influence on our penal system for the next two hundred years, until late into the 19th century, giving way to positivism and the scientific methodof studying human behavior and society. It is from this positivism noted by August Comte, considered the founder of sociology, it is in this last stage that our current classifications of theoretical perspectives on crime have emerged. These theories, grouped into four categories, which are; sociological theories, biological theories, psychological theories, and social psychological theories, represent different causes of crime. • 6. Populism Movement During the latter half of the nineteenth century, Minnesota was rampant with political discontent (MNopedia). National movements called for shorter work days, restrictions on child labor, as well and safer working conditions. This movement, known as populism, came from citizens want for change. This movement would shape politics for the rest of the century. This movement would take many forms in a number of political groups, most notably, the Grange, the Anti Monopoly Party, and the Alliance. Populismin Minnesota can find its start in it s rural farming communities. Farmers felt powerless to large railroad monopolies, whose wages would vary wildly as railroad managers could charge whatever they wanted (Risjord 147). This common grievance, along with the writings of Oliver Kelley, helped the Grange to spread. The Grange s goals were to advance methods of farming, as well as to promote the social and economic needs to farmers in the Midwest. The Grange movement never had major success, but in 1871 both candidates in the state election promised state control over railroad rates (Risjord 147). This victory came with it s own issues however, as railroads who charged... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1881, the Minnesota Farmers Alliance would form to maintain the same platform of the Grange. The Alliance would work to defend farmers against large businesses, while also fighting for industry regulations. It s largest victory would come the same year it started with the creation of the Minnesota Railroad and Warehouse Commission (MNopedia). Before this however, The Alliance would also join the fight with the urban labor movement. With many common concerns of farmers and factory workers, the Alliance would partner with the Knights of Labor to lobby for broader regulation of industry (MNopedia). This partnership would become official in 1980, and it would form the Alliance Labor Union
  • 7. Relationship Between Intensity And Speed The relationship between Intensity (speed in mph) and working Heart Rate (bpm) Research Question How does the speed (intensity) of running at various speeds ranging from 2mph 6mph affect the working heart rate of a 15 17 year old female rower with a 2k erg score of under 8:25? Variables Type of variableVariable Independent VariableSpeed (intensity) 2 mph 3 mph 4 mph 5 mph 6 mph Dependent Variable Working heart rate(bpm) Number of beats per minute Controlled VariablesTemperature There is a potential increase in the rate of cellular respiration in the body as most internal enzymes have optimum temperatures. If the rate of cellular respiration increases, this causes an increase at the rate that blood must be pumped to the working tissues. Since multiple enzymes that are involved in cellular respiration tend to have a higher ideal temperature, heart rate would be directly proportional to temperature. In other words, when the external temperature is increased, heart rate would increase too no matter what level of physical strength the individual is at. This variable is relatively difficult to control but in this lab, it will be done through the consistency of the indoor environment in which the data is collected. Age Since the heart expands and contracts for every heartbeat, once someone ages, the elasticity of the heart weakens. This leads to weakening in the contractions and expansions of the heart while it pumps blood around the body. It has been studied
  • 8. Genius In Badlands Perhaps the best thing about Badlands is the way the music itself is creatively put together and produced. For example, through the use of sound effects in her music, Halsey makes the songs come to life in a way that completely immerses the reader in her world. In the song Drive, she uses the sound of a car s engine starting, a seatbelt alarm, and tires revving on a road to add dimension. In Castle, the crashing noise of metal on metal can be heard, giving the song an urban feeling, and in Young God, she records herself saying: Forever cursed in love are the observant. Forever a slave to the detail, and plays it backwards, giving the beginning of the song a very ethereal feeling. Another example of genius music is in the use of musical

I was competing in California and wanted nothing more than to beat the fast cali kids who ruled their home track. The first race of the night I started off behind, setting myself in a comfort zone I made up lost ground, picking off one rider after another I expressed my skill. On the last lap I saw an opportunity to take first with only a corner left. I twisted the throttle and my bike pitched me sideways into a loud bang. I woke up in a hazy ambulance with blurry figures standing over me asking what seemed to be long drawn out questions. After a painful night and a long trip home, everything got harder. Going from being one of the best in the country to being incapable of competing, broke me. My confidence deflated knowing my competitors were only getting faster. • 10. An Essay About My Partner There is a concept in Egypt called hamdullah, which means thank God. Even if you are poor, you still thank God . It is a funny concept, to thank God when you are poor. It creates a sort of tension within someone why would anyone want to be poor? And more than that, why would anyone want to thank God for being poor? This is one of the many ways that my partner, Nouran (Noonoo) Ghannam has portrayed to me the tension that is so evident among young people in Cairo, Egypt. Noonoo is 22 years old, graduated from the American University in Cairo with a degree in political science, and lives in Cairo with her family. She lived in Cairo for her entire life, except when she had to move to other countries around the Middle East for her... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even though her family may disagree with her political stances, she fosters discussion with them and is able to make them think more critically and make better informed decisions by majoring in political science. Second, I portray how her family s tension influences her internally, by strongly aligning with Nasser but voting for the Muslim Brotherhood in the 2012 Elections which she participated in and thus helped move along the outcome. And third, I show how Noonoo tries to separate her private life from her public life creating more tension in wanting to be involved in politics, but not allowing herself to pursue a career in it as well. Nouran has lived her whole live in Cairo, except for the years when she moved around the Middle East to accommodate for her father s job. She studied at the American University in Cairo and majored in political science. She still lives with her family and loves going to the beach. It is important to recognize one of the first leaders of Egypt, Nasser, when exploring the tensions that are prevalent in Egypt. Nasser regained control of the Suez Canal, which was previously under the control of [France and Britain] in 1956. Regaining the Suez Canal and nationalising it was a mark of his power, and he was thereafter an influential figure in Egypt s history. As stated before, Noonoo strongly aligns with Nasser because she is in awe of him for standing up to the colonial powers and fighting for the

  • 12. Comparing Frankenstein And The Day The Earth Stood Still American film has long served as a platform for religious discourse. Creating a context where existential issues and eternal questions can be explored, film is reflective of the cultural and religious sentiments of society. The genre of choice has changed overtime with horror, westerns and later on science fiction all contributing greatly to this collective, dynamic cinematic religion. Directors James Whale and Robert Wise in Bride of Frankenstein (1935) and The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951) respectively, address the collective concerns of a nation regarding the role of God in a changing world. Times were destruction and devastation led to questions of is there even is a God? Furthermore in increasingly technological times the auteurs address the issue of creator verses creation. Each piece reconciles the relationship between creator and creation in different manners reflecting important cultural and religious sentiments of the time. Produced in different eras, both Bride of Frankenstein and The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Whale shows that men meddling in the business of Gods leads to ultimate self destruction and Wise builds on the doubts of a society already questioning God to replace the sacred with the scientific. These films represent in part the progressive secularization of society and replacement of the holy with the eternal truths of science. To the generation of Bride of Frankenstin, science remained within the realm and plan of God. While the society of The Day the Earth Stood Still found the alien s flying saucer was more reliable than the prayer. In our modern era as science continues to grow and religion fights to hang on to a dwindling audience, in the wake of the next global stir cinema surely will reflect whether we will look to the heavens for answers or to the
  • 13. Analysis Of Federalist 10 By James Madison In Federalist 10 by James Madison, he addresses key issues like factions and democracy, all while focusing on the usefulness of the Constitution and the necessity of a strong central government, to defend his Federalist ideology. Personally, I agree with the foundation of his arguments, especially on the topic of forms of government, as well as the role of representation in our government. Madison s primary focus throughout the beginning of this paper is factions. He holds a deep disdain for them as he thinks that they solely focus on themselves, while hurting other Americans, which is evident in this quote, ( ...united and actuated by some common impulse of passion, or of interest, adversed to the rights of other citizens, or to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... No matter what the government or its people try to implement to disable factions, another will always rise due to the nature of man. Destroying liberty is the most heinous crime imaginable for Madison and I agree, every citizen having their liberty is what this country was founded on and it should therefore be untouchable. Madison s idea of giving every citizen the same ideals and interests is blatant sarcasm to illustrate how factions are unpreventable and simply part of human nature. No matter what you may do to try and prevent it, there will always be new movements and ideas that people rally behind and their freedom to do that is part of what makes America special. Another focus of Federalist 10 is the purpose of having a republican government, which is personally the issue raised in Federalist 10 that resonates the most with me. One of the main benefits of a republic in a large government per Madison, is the lack of power given to factions. In a large and diverse republic, there are large amounts of factions across the country, however, they have little power or influence. While in a direct democracy, there is a small amount of factions, but each faction is
  • 14. Comparing Araby and Genesis Essay Parallels between Araby and Genesis In the Bible, the story of creation occurs in the garden of Eden. The book of Genesis tells the tale of Adam and Eve, whom God allowed to eat the fruit from any tree in the garden except for that of the central tree of knowledge. Unfortunately, with the serpent s deceitful encouragement, Eve enticed Adam to eat from that banned tree. The fruit opened Adam s eyes to the reality that he was naked (Gen. 3:7 20). Interestingly, the second paragraph of Araby alludes to the Genesis account of Eden. The wild garden behind the house contained a central apple tree and a few straggling bushes. Aside from commenting on the eroded isle of Ireland, Joyce uses this allusion to arrange the entire ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Later the narrator tells of how he follows her to school and how he thinks about her constantly, much like an adolescent in love would do. This feeling is not foreign to any reader; during the youth of our lives, we too have desired someone at a point beyond normality. Adam, the narrator, is obviously infatuated with Mangan s sister. Similar to what an adolescent would do, the narrator trusts his love and will do anything for her. Such is the case when discussing Araby, a bazaar. As she cannot attend due to a prior engagement, the narrator agrees to get her something if he goes. Thus, the narrator offers to do something beyond what he would normally do. Since the first mention of Araby is the narrator s conversation with Mangan s sister, the bazaar apparently is neither a normal nor an extraordinarily popular event. Coupled with the aunt s surprise at the narrator s desire to visit the bazaar, a reader receives the feeling that the narrator would not have otherwise gone to Araby. Eve has shown Adam the fruit, and Adam is weighing its opportunities. Without desire for schoolwork and little more for play, the narrator had hardly any patience with the serious work of life, which...seemed to [him] child s play, ugly monotonous child s play. Clearly, the narrator is enthralled by Araby. The Eastern connotation to the word offers
  • 15. Systems Administration And Network Services 1.Goal After two labs focusing purely on the Linux side of systems administration and network services, this third lab puts Windows into the spotlight and how it deals with configuring services as compared to the previous RHEL based configurations. Many of the same tasks which were completed using a RHEL 7 virtual machine in lab 2, such as setting up DHCP and DNS, are repeated in this lab on a Windows 2012 Datacenter virtual machine. This is done not only to show the differences in service administration, but also to indirectly teach students the steps as well as precautions that need to be taken when integrating in different enterprise server operating system families which very well could be running the same network services, such as in the case of this lab. Instead of merely just installing the same services and letting the clients make decisions on what data to receive from who, this lab also presents the challenge of making these two very different operating systems work together when the time comes to configure the DNS server on the Windows VM. A major point I took away from this is that while the Microsoft and ISC implementation of a DNS server can be seen as widely different, the integration of the two is very smooth and easy due to both of them still following the base rules of the DNS protocol as well as framework found in the numerous RFC s which describe it. Active Directory, which is also installed on the server, was review at this point from multiple different
  • 16. Synthesis Essay On Minor E Big 5 According to Professor Allen Schick, In a fundamental sense, the government is what it spends (Document A). There is a great deal of planning that goes into the federal budget each year, but yet it s still not enough to satisfy every need. The truth is that however much money or planning that goes into the budget, people will still feel that we are spending too much in some areas and not enough in others. It is the government s responsibility to put in place a budget that satisfies the needs of the people and follows the preamble to the Constitution. Many people believe that we are not slicing the pie correctly and that the budget needs to be looked over and revised. In each of the three budget clusters, the US government should make minor... Like I have stated previously, more funding needs to go towards energy. There is only so much oil left in the Earth and it has already started wars. America needs to stop its dependence on oil and the only way to do so is to put funding towards research to develop alternatives. Another area that I feel doesn t get enough attention is NASA, which only received $31 billion in 2012 (Document E). NASA has been credited for many discoveries and is partially responsible for why America is so great. When people think about America in the mid 1900s, they think about the space race. They remember how America was able to prevail over another world superpower, Russia, and beat them to the moon. The US has always been considered great and it has been because of things like reaching the moon first. Even taking an extra %5 from either of the Big Five to put towards funding for NASA would be worth it to me. NASA would help America get that image that we once had but
  • 17. Importance Of Equity In Education Equity means removing barriers and giving everyone an equal starting place. It is different from equality as it involves much more than just treating everyone the same. The General Commission on Religion and Race, or GCORR of the United Methodist Church states that the social structures of society have been built in such a way that discrimination lives within the structures themselves. The example that is given is voting. Equality is when everyone has the right to vote while equity is everyone having the same ability to vote. Over 2,000 years ago, Jesus set a precedent: He included women in a time when they were considered lesser. Unfortunately, this precedent is not followed in many parts of the world. Women s equity is important to everyone. The best way to achieve this is through education. Educating women is easier said and done as they are still considered the lesser gender in many countries. A UNESCO report from the United Nationsstates that twice as many girls as boys are unlikely to ever enter school. An article from Brighter Children outlines the five major barriers to children s educations in developing countries while an article from Share America covers the benefits of educating women worldwide. I need a transitional sentence here. :/ The UNESCO report states that eight million boys will be unlikely to ever step foot in a school. This is an alarming number, but is twice as good as the 16 million girls who will be unlikely to ever step foot in a

This technology involves parallel processing of different threads for digital voice and data operations. Based on older telephone models mobile phones are designed to transmit voices. In first generation, cellphones are basically radios, they are used to transmit analog signals to a cell tower through air. In the second generation, voices were digitized but sent in the same way through circuit switching network, which establishes a connection between two phones till the connection lasts. 1. This technology mainly uses Frequency division multiple access (FDMA). As we communicate through radio channels data is transmitted in

In A Primer of Soto[JS1] Zen Dogen explains the Way of the Buddha and stresses the importance of sitting in meditation or zazen as a means of reaching the manifestation of wholeness. The manifestation of wholeness is a state in which one abandons both mind and body and empties oneself of ignorance, delusions, and dualistic modes of thinking. One who is free from dualistic modes of being enters a world in which both subject and object exist. This is a non objective mode of being where all self centeredness has been emptied, where words and concepts are used not to divide but to unite, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the practice of the Way, Dogen places a strong emphasis on zazen or sitting in meditation. One who meditates properly realizes that the practice of meditation and Enlightenment are one in the same. In A Primer of Soto Zen, Dogen states that zazen is the practice of the Buddha. Zazen is the ultimate practice. This is indeed the True Self (Masunaga 44). In the practice of zazen one empties the self and enters a mode of being that is in itself Enlightenment. The experience of Enlightenment within zazen reveals that the entire world is filled with Buddha nature. This is something that the unenlightened eye does not see but the Enlightened eye is able to grasp immediately and intuitively (Earhart 101). Thus, Dogen believes that life is most real when a person sits in meditation. He says; Only when you sit straight and look into yourself, does it become clear that [you yourself are changing and] the objective world has a reality apart from you (Tsunda 246). Therefore during meditation one is free from a individual centered or egocentric position which distorts reality. The Enlightened being or the one who practices zazen will see things, including the self as they truly are. Dogen realizes the power of zazen thus, he teaches that students should devote all their efforts to this

  • 21. The Tipping Point By Malcom Gladwell In The Tipping Point by Malcom Gladwell, Gladwell discusses how ideas are spread as a result of social epidemics. Through his concepts of The Law of the Few, The Stickiness Factor, and The Power of Context, we can examine how certain sticky trends spread through our society. The trend I will be examining now is the current manbun epidemic. The so called man bun came to be the latest fashion trend for men due in part to the internet and to other factors as discussed in Gladwell s The Tipping Point. 2015 was a year of many different trends spreading throughout society, but arguably none more polarizing than that of the man bun. Men growing their hair out long is nothing new, but 2015 was populated with men of all ages pulling their hair into buns at the top of their head. We have now reached a point in history where a Google search for man bun will reveal headlines such as Official Site for Manbuns and Long Hair or Am I Man Enough for a Man Bun? , and advertisements for Clip On Instant Man Bun. How did we get to this point? A few years prior to this and such a search may have revealed nothing more than an ironic desert recipe. How did our society get to this point, then? According to Gladwell, trends like this that become popular overnight due to their ability to spread like the flu. Such trends can be labeled social epidemics and Gladwell uses three rules to describe their ability to spread so rapidly. The first rule Gladwell describes is termed The Law of

In Michael Blake s novel, Dances With Wolves, Lieutenant John Dunbar s life changes after he becomes involved with the Comanche Indians. After a short period of time, both Dunbar and the Indians learn to trust each other. Through literary terms such as foreshadowing, symbolism, and similes, Blake proves the idea that love, friendship, belonging, and connection can be found between people of different backgrounds and races. He chooses to use these similes so readers can understand the relationship between Dunbar and the Indians. For example, the author utilizes a simile to describe Dunbar s relation with Wind In His Hair and Stone Calf. They were as smug as schoolboys (Blake 275). Blake compares the relationship between the Indian warriors and Dunbar to schoolboys. By doing this, Blake implies that the men are comfortable together and and accepting of each other. Also, at this point in the book, Wind In His Hair and Stone Calf joke around with Dunbar about his love for Stands With A Fist. This proves how far the men have come in their relationship. At the beginning of the novel, the Indians would have been against any romantic relationship between an Indian woman and a white man. However, by the end of the book, they do not pay attention to the race of Dunbar; rather, they care about his kind personality and the other favorable qualities he possesses. To continue, Blake uses many other quotes to demonstrate the strong relationship between the Indians and Dunbar. Then it jumped into his eyes, and like the only boy in class who knows the answer, he smiled at his teacher (Blake 209). This quote tells the readers many details about Dunbar. By mentioning that he smiles, the quote proves is happy and excited to be with the Indians. Also, by comparing Dunbar to the only boy in class who know the answer, it tells readers that Dunbar is wise. He is smart not only for guessing correctly what the Indians are trying to communicate to him, but he is also smart for building this relationship with the Indians. Like the first example, this quote refers to a school setting. Dunbar smiling shows that he has a good relationship with his teacher Stands With A Fist. In addition, the quote references the theme because teachers teach people from all different backgrounds. It shows the strong connection between the student and the teacher in this case Dunbar
  • 24. Demand For Labour During The Short Run DEMAND FOR LABOUR IN THE SHORT RUN The event, where a firm produces only one product (Q) using the two inputs labour (L) and capital (K), explains the general principles that determine labour demand. The technological relationship between output and any blend of inputs is given by the production function: Q = F (K, L) The quantity of capital is fixed at K = K0 in the short run. Hence, the production function is a function of labour (L), keeping K fixed. The amount of labour services is variable. Changing the number of people hired, or changing the working hours of each employee, or both, can vary the amount of labour services. However, here we assume that there is no distinction between the variations in the number of people hired and working hours. This trait of the labour demand is discussed in the Chapter 6. Also, the possibility of the labour being a quasi fixed factor in the short run is discussed later. The output of the firm in the short run and the employment decisions are used to derive the demand for the labour in the short run. There are two decisions that result from the supposition of profit maximization. First, the firm will continue to operate as long as it covers its variable costs. This is because of the fact that the firm will have to pay the fixed costs, i.e. the sunk costs whose size has no effect on what the most profitable activity is at a particular time, regardless of whether the firm operates or not. The second decision says that if the firm

The dust particles are charged with +ve charge due to solar wind. The positive charge helps in reacting to the Lorentz force. The interplanetary dust grain population mainly originates in the main asteroid belt that is located between 2 to 4 astronomical units (AU) from the Sun. Dust forms in collisions between bodies of different sizes and energies or may be carried in by comets. 10 % of the dust formed by collisions in this area is transported towards the Sun via the Poynting Robertson drag. The remaining 90 % leave the solar system hyperbolic orbits as newly formed interstellar dust. Dust grain orbits are mainly influenced by gravity. Their orbital motion is Keplerian. Most of the dust grains stemming from the asteroid belt orbit the Sun with low eccentricities and, thus, near circular orbits. Material properties of IDP The Most of the dust in the inner solar system is assumed to originate from parent bodies orbiting in the Main Asteroid belt .the materials are divided into 3 main Chrondrites 60%,Achrondrites 10% and Irons 30%. Chrondrites contains Mg, Al, Si, S, Ca, Cr, Mn, Fe and Ni. IDP motion dynamics The dynamics of interplanetary dust particles are determined by a variety of forces that Can change the parameters of a dust grain s orbital motion. Very small IDP has perturbation by other forces. The P R effect (pointing Robertson effect)

This is to reduce time wasted on checks and to increase productivity. Summary Of The Tale Of Genji Jordan Adams 11/25/14 World Civilization I MacKinnon Text Analysis The Tale of Genji In early eleventh century Japan, circa the year 1021, noblewoman and lady in waiting Murasaki Shikibu published The Tale of Genji, widely renowned as the world s first novel. The work is set in Shikibu s contemporary Heian period of Japan, in which political and social ranks dictated society s functioning and heavy prejudices were placed on those deemed unsuitable for the affairs of public court life. Women fell under this umbrella of outsiders, meant to live primarily behind screens and closed doors only to be seen by their father and husband. It is believed that Shikibu wrote such a tale of forbidden romance and whimsical court affairs to bring life to her fellow women who shared in such a limited existence. This single piece of literature manages to wholly represent the Heian age of Japanese history, embodying the period s culture and seamlessly incorporating a broad spectrum of themes of civilization. The Tale of Genjirevolves around the illegitimate son of Japan s emperor and his favorite concubine Kiritsubo. Kiritsubo is easily influenced by the critics and judgments of the court, falls ill, and dies of jealously. With her having no concrete political standing, the emperor removes their son from court and assigns him to the commoner Genji clan (thus giving the boy his name) and names Suzaku, the son he had with Lady Kokiden as the royal prince. • 36. Social Categofication Of Social Stratification In The... The question I chose to respond to is to explain stratification in the United States. Social stratification refers to a societies categorization of its people into rankings of socioeconomic tiers based on factors such as wealth, income, race, education, and power (Introduction to Sociology, pp.189). Societies classes are based off of layers, consisting of people and earth s resources which are unevenly distributed. Individuals with the most resources make up the top layer of social structure, and those with fewer resources represent the lower levels of social class. Social stratificationis created and supported by society as a whole even when individuals fight against inequalities. Although different societies have different factors which effect stratification, many societies are based often on an economic system based on wealth and income. Wealth is defined as the net value of money and assets a person has, and income, is a persons wages or investment dividends (Introduction to Sociology, pp. 191). Therefore, wealth is mostly inherited money from previous generations, another way to be said, money a person was born into. On the other hand, income is the amount of money an individual makes and is more likely based off individual success. Social stratification reflects an unequal distribution of resources. For example the United States has a higher standard of living than poorer countries such as Africa, East Asia, and India. Keils 2 Standard of living is the level of

We didn t really do much for the rest of the day. On Tuesday, we we drove out to a couple different gift shops to see if we really needed anything, but because it was only the second day, we didn t end up buying anything. After that, me and my dad went out to the ocean, again. We had no idea what time it was or when we would have to go inside to get ready for a pirate dinner and show at 5pm. So after a while, we were walking back and my dad mumbled, Let s wait for one more good wave and I agreed. We went back into the ocean and then we had one great wave, then they just kept coming for a couple of minutes. We laughed for that whole couple minutes. Then when it died down, we started walking back again and my dad looked behind his shoulder and pointed out another good wave. So, obviously, we went back out, again! • 41. Hamilton s Questions Regarding Public Opinion We have studied a wide array of topics during this class. However, for the purpose of this paper, I will be confronting week six s questions regarding public opinion. I will first discuss what the Federalists believed the role of public opinion was in our system of government. I will then discuss what public opinion s role has become in today s system of government. Then I will consider whether governing by public opinion is hurtful or harmful to proper governance. I will then follow up with why governing by the polls is an abandonment of our republican form of government and conclude with the why our official should not govern through public opinion. The role of these polls has become more of an instruction manual for representatives than anything else. They vote according to the polls and what public sentiment is at the time. According to Sooner Polls, public opinion polls help guide policy by giving decision makers impartial information about what the public wants. The role of public opinion polls has become rather important in our system of government. These polls have mixed together public opinion and legislative action. For example, there is a daily presidential approval rating tracker that directly ties presidential action to public opinion. According to America s Failing Experiment, polls have magnified the increasing democratization and mixing of public opinion and presidential action. The role of these polls has become to directly tie the public with their legislatures and the executive. These polls have further magnified our representatives preference in being delegates rather than trustees. Our representatives no longer represent what they believe to be our best interests, but rather what we tell them our best interests are. These polls have served to erode the distance that the founders placed in the constitution between the people and their Senators, Executive, and

Despite Behn s political investment in this upper class concept of manhood, critics and scholars have argued that her plays simply just offer celebrations of libertine masculinity. (Staves, 2004: 81) The Carnival setting in the play gives the characters a freedom, particularly sexual freedom, they would not otherwise possess. When asked by her governess what she will do at Carnival, Hellena replies, That which all the World does, as I am told, be as mad as the rest, and take all innocent Freedom. (Owens, 1996: 268) In the play, the madness and freedom of Carnival is produced by the masquerading element of the festival. Making more money is a plus but another factor to think about is school loans which will put a person in debt until the loans are paid off, so it is important for people to weigh their pros and cons when it comes to going to college. Now with the growing technology and job demands receiving a college education has increased in demand. People want to be successful in their careers and want a bigger income so a college education is the wisest way to become successful. The supply for college is always elevated and increases each year because more and more people realize that receiving a college education is valuable and beneficial. Two substitutes for a college education would be self educating which is where a person can get books, do research, and learn along with teaching themselves on a particular topic, business field, certain materials and information. Self educating is what some people might prefer if they do not have the drive or determination, along with finances to be able to go to college and earn a college degree. Another substitute would be if a person would ask their job to sponsor or pay for classes, training, or even college courses to be able to have the opportunity to move up in the business and become more successful.

These positive results lead to water fluoridation becoming a popular practice throughout civilized areas of the world. Putting a substance like fluoride in municipal water supplies is a good way to medicate many people at a time, since everybody drinking from the water supply would have a constant intake of fluoride. The big advantage of water fluoridation is that it benefits all residents in a community regardless of age, socio economic status, education or employment. • 55. Similarities Between The Greed And The Iliad Although both of these stories are Homer s Greek Epics, they differ in great measures. In the Iliad, the Gods play a very prominent role in the course of the poem. While in the Odyssey, the Gods do not play a major role and serve more as a spiritual guide on a long journey. In the Iliad, the humans are at the mercy of the Gods, meaning that whatever the Gods want to happen will happen regardless of the humans. The Greek Gods in The Iliad are split amongst themselves, with Zeus being the only God who is not on a definite side. It is commonly noted that the mortals in the Iliad are serving more as a pawn piece on a chess board controlled by the Gods. The Gods seemingly use the mortals to settle their own disputes. The Trojan war, which the Iliad is based on, is said to have started from Paris declaring that Aphrodite is the prettiest of the goddesses. Aphrodite in turn, awarded Paris, Helen of Troy, who was married to Menelaus. Menelaus then asked for help from the Greeks, and ignited the Trojan war.
