N
• E-learning has completely enhanced the system of education worldwide.
• It is carried out with the help of computer or web enabled technology.
• MOOC- Massive Open Online Course- an online course aimed at unlimited
and open access via web.
• SWAYAM- Programme initiated by Govt. Of India- designed to achieve 3
principles of educational policy: access, equity and quality.
• SWAYAM- indigenously developed by MHRD and AICTE; they are MOOC's.
• Capable of hosting 2000 courses, in order to ensure best quality contents
are produced and delivered-9 National co-ordinators have been appointed.

• NPTEL-National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning
• Joint venture of IIT and IIS.
• Founded on 2003.
• Funded by MoE( Ministry of Education)- a project of MHRD
• NPTEL courses are open to everyone one.
• It aims to enhance the skills of individuals and also to upskill
their career potentials
• 600+ certification courses in about 22 disciplines.

4. NPTEL
MOOCs
• NPTEL began offering online courses in March, 2014.
• Anyone outside technology stream can now do online certification
course from NPTEL with IIT certification.
• Involves -pre-recorded lectures, resource video materials, lecture
notes, assignments and quizzes.
• Content and self assessment at regular intervals.
• Faculty currently offering courses are from IITs (19) or from. other
reputed institutes such as CMI, IMSC, etc.
• OBJECTIVE- enabling students to obtain certificates which makes
them employable in industry or pursue a suitable higher education.

• These courses extend upto 8-12 weeks.
• Pass percentage-40% (Assignment marks+ Exam marks)
• Exam is 3 hours and are mostly MCQs (easy to hard)
