Desktops are the foundation
of all PCs’ as they are
capable of having all
functions. They are not
portable but are used
quite a lot in offices and
homes.
3. Laptop
Laptops have nearly all the same functions as
desktops but instead is portable.
Laptops allow users to connect to the internet, play
games, use social networking sites and open
documents.
4. Netbook/ Notebooks
Netbooks/Notebooks are
small laptops that are
not as well equipped
as laptops and are
used primarily for
internet surfing, and
because they are
small they are easily
portable which
means that they can
be used nearly
anywhere.
5. Tablet
A tablet is a light
portable handheld
computer, most
tablet PCs’ now
allow interaction
with touch which
makes them very
interesting and
somewhat less
complicated
because of the lack
of cabling and
wires.
6. Games console
Games console are more
than just what the name
explains them to be.
Games consoles can be
used for multimedia
purposes like accessing
the internet, watching
television as well as
allowing the use to play
games and using games
consoles as media
players so they can play
video and audio files.
7. Smartphone
These have most of the same capabilities as PDA’s
with the added functions like, Built-in camera’s
and television access.
8. PDA
Stands for Personal Digital
assistant they allow you
to:
play games
Use the internet
Use E-mail
Instant message
PDA’s also allow you to use
most of the same
software as laptops as
well as allowing you to
use different
organizational tools.
9. Server
Servers are dedicated
components/computers that
perform certain tasks about
whether or not something
should be allowed or not;
Network server can give access
or decline the connection of
other computers to a
network.
Database server manages the
process and actions.
Printer server manages one or
more printers on a network.
