Japan provided 200 million yen (approximately $1.95 million) in non-project grant aid to the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) to purchase diesel and mitigate economic difficulties. The FSM Petroleum Corporation will coordinate the purchase and delivery of diesel using the grant funds. Half of the grant amount must be deposited in a counterpart account within three years, and the usage of these funds will be discussed jointly by the FSM and Japan. The diesel purchase and establishment of the counterpart account will help reduce costs and bring price stability to the FSM's energy sector.
