important display of media in a magazine such as NME. NME is
not only there to inform but is aiming to entertain as well, a
variety of media is important as just writing would not be
aesthetically pleasing to the audience. The image is a medium
long shot to show the reader the type of clothes and body
language of the model Dizzee Rascal. As he is in a body
warmer and doing graffiti this attracts to the certain audience
that also follows these things. The lack of the direct address
from Dizzee Rascal shows the type of character that this rapper
is meant to be. The fact he thinks he is too cool to look at the
camera and is also kind playing to the stero type of the of the
rapper lifestyle being in trouble as street art is illegal in most

front cover as it is messy suggesting a sense of cohesion with the

title is also a pun as the use of the word ‘Tags’ is referring to that of a
style of graffiti as well as it being a play on a popular idiom. The use
of idiom makes the title more attractive to the audience as they can
familiarise with the article. There is also a sense of movement as the
background flows on the page fading into the title making the scene
very much a graffiti style.
Main Text – main text once again follows the convention of black
on white or BOW and serif as it is meant to appear more formal
than the titles for example. The drop cap at the start allows the
reader to know when the actual text begins, this is also very
cohesive with the graffiti style as large letters are very popular in
street art. The main text is in columns showing that it is in an
article, these conventions allow the reader to notify that it is an
article.
Colour Scheme - the colour scheme is still there in abundance on
the double page spread as the writing is black on a white
background and the main piece of mise en scene is that of the red
jacket as it stands out over the rest of the items and connotes a
loud person who likes to be the centre of attention, which is what
the stereotype of rappers is. The background could possibly
represent the type of lifestyle lead by the rapper very hectic with
the many colours.
