Case Study: Alana
Alana is a 10-year-old female and is in the 4th grade. Before this school year began, you heard about Alana in the staff lounge from teachers who had worked with the child and her family previously. You read Alana’s file and learned that her parents divorced 3 years ago. Alana has attended and left your school and now is back for the third time. The school nurse shared with you that Alana was born premature, weighing 4 pounds, and was diagnosed with fetal alcohol syndrome disorder. Alana suffers from occasional petit mal seizures, for which she is on medication. She is still small for her age, has a low second grade vocabulary, and minimal math skills. A resource aide spends 2 hours each day in the classroom assisting her.
During the first few weeks of the school year, the teacher attempted to phone the house to speak with Alana’s mom and the phone calls were not returned. The resource aide went to the home one time and said that although loud music was playing inside and there were “young hoodlums” on the steps of the home, the mother did not answer the door. The boys said she is sleeping and will not come to the door. The aide reported that the boys said Alana is the only child, they are cousins, and they go to school when they want to because there is no adult around during the day to make them do differently. The boys said they sometimes watch Alana at night when the mom has to go out.
It is now November and the teacher and resource aide are more worried about Alana. Working With Children and Adolescents: The Case of Dalia
Dalia is a 14-year-old, biracial female of African and Irish American descent who resides with her parents in a middle-class suburb. She is the youngest of three children and is currently the only child remaining in the home. Dalia’s parents have been married for 25 years. Dalia’s father works in the creative arts field with a nontraditional work schedule that has him gone overnight and sleeping late into the morning. Dalia’s mother is an executive who works long hours. Dalia was diagnosed with sickle cell anemia in early childhood and was hospitalized multiple times. At present, Dalia’s health is stable with the last serious episode occurring 2 years ago.
Dalia’s parents reported that until middle school, Dalia was an easygoing, good-natured youngster who enjoyed singing and participating in activities with her peers and family. Dalia denied any problems with drugs or alcohol but admitted to drinking with friends. Dalia described her family relationships as tense, stating, “My dad lets me do what I want” and “My mother is always trying to control me.” Dalia described her relationship with her older brother, who lives in another state, as “cool,” and her relationship with her older sister, a college sophomore, as “not cool.”
Dalia’s parents sought out counseling services for behavioral issues on the recommendation of her school. The issues included argumentative behavior with authority figures, physical altercations with peers, poor concentration in class, irritable mood, verbal combativeness when confronted, truancy, and highly sexualized behavior with male peers. At home, Dalia had become more argumentative and physically threatening. Her parents had discovered that she and her friends drank alcohol in their home. Dalia’s parents also reported that she was up most of the night and slept most of the day. They also reported that her mood was highly irritable and that she was extremely impulsive. Case Study of Donna Little - Chapter 5
Donna Little is a 39-year-old Indian woman who has a history of substance misuse and has struggled with reunification with her adolescent children over the last 6 years. She was in residential school from the age of 6 to 16 years old. She has a history of domestic violence in her previous relationships. Donna was the youngest of four children in her family. Her parents, siblings, and herself were raised in the same small northern reservation. Both her parents had gone to residential school in the early 1950s, as did her grandfathers and grandmothers on both sides of her family system in the late 1910s. Donna was raised in an environment of violence and mayhem in her early childhood, which she has talked about quite extensively in counseling. Although her parents abused alcohol, she emphasizes repeatedly that her family was quite ceremonial and participated in the big drum feast and singing within the community. When Donna was 6, an Indian agent wearing a red, white, and black checkered jacket gave her candy and took her to the residential school. She never had the opportunity to say good-bye to her mom and dad, who died of tuberculosis while she was in the residential school. Donna reflects on her residential school experience with a despondent look. While in the residential school, she had only one friend she could count on. Her siblings, who were also at the school, were older and thus not allowed to play with her or sleep near her at the residence dorms. This created an incredible loneliness that Donna did not know how to fill, and often she would use alcohol to help numb that pain. She did not like to drink, but it helped her to stop her thinking badly about the past. Donna was a victim of sexual abuse in the residential school, primarily by the Roman Catholic priest who was in charge. The first time she was assaulted she was 7; the last assault occurred right before she ran away at age 16. When Donna had attempted to tell the head nun in charge of her dorm what was happening to her, she was beaten severely, to the point of unconsciousness. His team can feel at ease with him and he does not micromanage them. He lets them know that he is available if anything goes wrong. He also assures the employees that they would never get involved in anything that is not good for the growth of the company or to their career.
2. I on’t think all supervisors can operate in the similar fashion and can be effective. The success of Kenny is linked to the personality of Kenny and work ethic. All the supervisors cannot treat the team the way Kenny treats them. There are lot of bosses who do not have the same attitude like Kenny who has respect and hardworking for the employees. Most of the supervisors have a sense of dominating behavior. The mindset ends up separating the employees and the supervisors. The attitude and approach of Kenny required 100 percent commitment.
3. There is no promotion of best supervisor in the team but there cab be more done by the supervisor if he teaches the supervisors in his current position to adopt his approach. If he helped to mirror his approach and let other supervisors adopt his style then it will encourage the team to perform better. He can promote his approach in a better way.
4. Kenny is a servant leader and he effectively listens to the things people have to tell to him. The complaints and gripes are addressed in an effective manner. There is persuasion done by him for doing the job that are necessary and better results are done which explains the use of foresight and experience. He feels that it is necessary for the team to have a bigger picture for its success. There is commitment given to the growth of the individual and the team.

Donna Little is a 39-year-old Indian woman who has a history of substance misuse and has struggled with reunification with her adolescent children over the last 6 years. She was in residential school from the age of 6 to 16 years old. She has a history of domestic violence in her previous relationships. Donna was the youngest of four children in her family. Her parents, siblings, and herself were raised in the same small northern reservation. Donna was raised in an environment of violence and mayhem in her early childhood, which she has talked about quite extensively in counseling. When Donna was 6, an Indian agent wearing a red, white, and black checkered jacket gave her candy and took her to the residential school. She never had the opportunity to say good-bye to her mom and dad, who died of tuberculosis while she was in the residential school. Donna reflects on her residential school experience with a despondent look. While in the residential school, she had only one friend she could count on. Her siblings, who were also at the school, were older and thus not allowed to play with her or sleep near her at the residence dorms. This created an incredible loneliness that Donna did not know how to fill, and often she would use alcohol to help numb that pain. Dalia is a 14-year-old, biracial female of African and Irish American descent who resides with her parents in a middle-class suburb. She is the youngest of three children and is currently the only child remaining in the home. Dalia’s parents have been married for 25 years. Dalia’s father works in the creative arts field with a nontraditional work schedule that has him gone overnight and sleeping late into the morning. Dalia’s mother is an executive who works long hours. Dalia was diagnosed with sickle cell anemia in early childhood and was hospitalized multiple times. 2. I on’t think all supervisors can operate in the similar fashion and can be effective. The success of Kenny is linked to the personality of Kenny and work ethic. All the supervisors cannot treat the team the way Kenny treats them. There are lot of bosses who do not have the same attitude like Kenny who has respect and hardworking for the employees. Most of the supervisors have a sense of dominating behavior. The mindset ends up separating the employees and the supervisors. The attitude and approach of Kenny required 100 percent commitment.
3. There is no promotion of best supervisor in the team but there cab be more done by the supervisor if he teaches the supervisors in his current position to adopt his approach. If he helped to mirror his approach and let other supervisors adopt his style then it will encourage the team to perform better. He can promote his approach in a better way.

The three governing principles of ethical communication are honesty, equity and avoiding harm (Kreps, 2011). All three are very important in ensuring that communication through advertising and marketing. Honesty means that there is truth in the information given out during interorganizational communication. This means there is no intentional deception in the information that is being given to the customers, regulators or competitors. It is very important for companies to be honest in their advertising so that customers get what they are expecting. Advertisements draw in customers, but if they get there and find there experience is different than what was advertised, they are likely to lose trust in the company and may never use them again.
An organization must also be equitable to be ethical. This means that the company practices fair and impartial practices (Kreps, 2011). Companies that are equitable do not exhibit unfair trade practices or create monopolies. This is important in interorganizational communication because it ensures that companies are fair in advertising and marketing. This means that in an ideal world there would be no unfair advertising that blames or puts down another company. Personally if I see a company that advertises unfairly like this I avoid using their products and their company as much as possible. If a company use fair advertising I use their products and promote them by word of mouth and through my social media connections.
The last ethical principle of communication is avoiding harm. This means that it is a businesses responsibility to ensure that they do as little harm to the environment and the public as possible (Kreps, 2011). This is important, especially in today’s world because of the threats of global warming and climate change. A company has a responsibility to promote environmentally friendly products and reduce the spread of harmful chemicals that may be used in manufacturing. This is important in ensuring the long-term health of the people and the planet.

Pressure-volume and pressure-temperature relationships in gases
Some of the earliest experiments in chemistry and physics involved the study of gases. The invention
of the barometer and improved thermometers in the 17th century permitted the measurement of
macroscopic properties such as temperature, pressure, and volume. Scientific laws were developed to
describe the relationships between these properties. These laws allowed the prediction of how gases
behave under certain conditions, but an explanation or model of how gases operate on a microscopic
level was yet to be discovered.
After Dalton’s atomic theory was proposed in the early 1800’s (that matter was composed of atoms) a
framework for visualizing the motion of these particles followed. The kinetic molecular theory,
developed by Maxwell and Boltzmann in the mid 19th century, describes gas molecules in constant
random motion. Molecules collide resulting in changes in their velocities. These collisions exert
pressure against the container walls. The frequency of collisions and the speed distribution of these
molecules depend on the temperature and volume of the container. Hence, the pressure of a gas is
affected by changes in temperature and volume.
You may already think that the relationships between pressure, volume, temperature, and number of
gas molecules are intuitive, based on your ability to visualize molecular motion and a basic
understanding of the kinetic theory. The simple experiments that follow will allow you the
opportunity to confirm these relationships empirically, in a qualitative and quantitative manner. In
essence, you will play the role of a 17th century scientist (with some 21st century tools!) and discover
the laws for yourself—laws and constants that are still in use today.
In this experiment, you will:

Being enrolled in the MS in Child and Adolescent Developmental Psychology program has truly added to my personal and professional growth. First of all, the program has allowed me to virtually meet many colleagues within the educational/psychology field. I have learned a lot from reading my colleagues discussions and opinions. As an elementary teacher, I normally used to refer Special Educational Needs students to the school’s SEN department. There is only so much you can do as a teacher! I’ve found the course material to be very useful when it comes to interventions and helping children. Now, I can hopefully utilize my new knowledge in the classroom. Most importantly, this program has taught me to become more sensitive towards the unique needs of children/adults.

The MS program has taught me to create my own mission of social change to inspire children (students) to act in positive manners. I will try my best to be a social change agent within my classroom by fighting harmful stereotypes, applying theory/ evidence based information to practice, creating an anti-bias environment and educating ‘the whole child’, focusing on their social-emotional development in addition to their learning experiences. To contribute to social change, I must be knowledgeable about specific problems and the reasons contributing to those problems. To contribute to social change, I will try to allow students to practice how to think, instead of what to think.
Finally, one person who has truly offered their support during the entire program is my husband, Karim. Karim has offered much emotional support and encouragement during these 2 years, he also offered help and advice. These 2 years have passed by very quickly! He was truly patient and understanding while listening to many of my psychological analyses (many of them could be wrong I presume :D) . boni Logan is a 16-year-old biracial African American/Caucasian female in 11th grade. She is an honors student, has been taking Advanced Placement courses, and runs track. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
