Nike and Apple have partnered together on various fitness-focused projects. They first collaborated on the Nike+iPod Sport Kit in 2006, which allowed runners to sync their music to a wireless sensor on their shoes. More recently in 2016, Apple and Nike launched the Apple Watch Nike+, a special edition Apple Watch designed for runners with Nike-branded bands and watch faces. The Apple Watch Nike+ allows runners to track metrics like pace, distance, and route directly from their wrist without needing an iPhone. Both companies benefit from this partnership by leveraging their respective strengths in athletic apparel/footwear and wearable technology.
