• Source: Emerson DC Users Group survey 2014
• Power density of 50kW per rack may be overestimated
• Nonetheless, higher power density require improved reliability and higher efficiency in the
power chain

Power Distribution Choices
IEC
Highly popular due to the fact that IEC plugs can
output either 125 volts or 250 volts. The most popular
IEC configurations are C13 to C14 (similar to what you
see on the back of your computer at home) and C19 to
C20.
NEMA
The most popular standard for plugs and receptacles.
L5-20P represents a 20 Amp, 125 volt twist-lock plug
5-20P is a 20 Amp,125 volt straight-blade plug.
L6-30P plug inserts into an L6-30R receptacle.
C20
C14
Rated at 16 Amps
Rated at 10 Amps
3 phase WYE and Delta . WYE requires a neutral
cable so more wires but is preferred in
international standards.
Current options in 16, 20, 30, 32, 35, 60 Amps
Voltage of 120, 208, 230 and 230/400
9. Basic power outlet units: Provide power distribution from a single input to multiple
receptacles.
Basic with a local monitor: Provide the user a local snap shot in real time of the power
consumption being used.
Networked: Provides access to power consumption data using a Web-based GUI that
allows global network access to real-time power information to improve data center
energy efficiency and reduce operating costs through analysis of power usage and trends.
Networked and Environmental: Measures in-cabinet temperature/humidity and provides
alerts to prevent environmental factors that can cause equipment to overheat or
malfunction.
Switched: Enables remote power control of individual receptacles, in conjunction with
remote current and environmental monitoring networking capability.
Switched with Per Outlet Monitoring: Provides power information at the individual device
level, so specific actions can be taken to improve efficiency.
Vertical Mount
Horizontal Mount
Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS) provide reliable,
redundant power to single-power corded equipment. The ATS unit has dual input power
cords supplying power to the connected load. If the primary power source becomes
unavailable the ATS unit will source power from the secondary source without
interrupting critical loads.
Auto Transfer Switch units are single-phase and are horizontally mounted with 3-meter
power cords.

Where are the cabinet mounting brackets?? In the brochure
Morning Ladies and Gentlemen I would like to welcome you to the Panduit session and thank you for taking the time to learn about what we do. My name is Nabil and I am responsible for Panduit’s channel partners in the region. As we only have 60 minutes I have the objective of explaining Panduit and the three big trends that are effecting data centers today. I have included some Panduit ideas which you might not have come across before that you might consider in the future.
This first section I will cover who is Panduit and what we do. I would guess that some of you have never heard of Panduit and those that have either say Panduit the cabinet company or Panduit the cabling company. We are neither we are the IT Deployment company that will have a major impact in reducing your operational expenses.
SPEAKING POINTS
Promote that there is a new PDU Selector tool on the Panduit website to make it easier for our customers to find the rack PDUs they require.
[GO TO PANDUIT WEBSITE TO DEMONSTRATE]
SPEAKING POINTS:
In addition to the breadth of solution, our power offering also has functional depth
The I series represents the meters for brownfield and standalone hardware
The M series represents monitored at the pdu level
The MS series stands for monitored at the pdu level with switching at the outlet level
The MPO series represents current monitoring at the outlet level
The MSPO is monitored and switched at the outlet level
This level of functional depth is also world class
SPEAKING POINTS:
This slide represents the world-class “breadth” of our SmartZone Power Solution options.
SmartZone Rack PDUs provide the capability to monitor aggregate strip power or individual outlet power, with or without switching controls thru traditional network-enabled rack PDUs OR through our unique gateway-enabled rack PDUs.
Capability to make non-intelligent pdus intelligent without disrupting operations and the ability to monitor freestanding equipment like mainframes or storage cabinets
SPEAKING POINTS
SmartZone Rack PDUs can be built with in multiple variations of NEMA, IEC, etc. plug and receptacle types to meet almost any unique need or requirement that customer may request.
For total peace of mind, our rack PDUs also offer compliancy with applicable IEC standards and all recognized national deviations including UL, CSA, EN, AS/NZ.
SPEAKING POINT:Demonstrate PDU Configurator.
Afterwards, remind team that we do have the actual PDU configurator on the Sales Enablement portal and that they should use that version every time as it will continue to be updated. That location should be their single source for the latest version of the PDU Configurator.
If they need further assistance, the Sales Enablement portal also has a short video tutorial on how to use the PDU Configurator that they can review.
SPEAKING POINT:This Power Options was presented as part of the Global Rack PDU Sales Process Training. A battlecard of this and additional power topics is available in the SmartZone Solutions section on the Sales Enablement Portal.
The Rack PDU Sales Process 101 (TAMS/GAMS) and 102 (SSMs) training sessions provided to global sales were also recorded and those training webinars are available on the Global Learning Network (GLN) as a refresher.
