New and tactical media can help spread environmental education and awareness through their interactive and participatory nature. They allow for sharing of diverse perspectives on environmental issues in a way that encourages deeper democratic discussion. Tactical media in particular uses low-cost and accessible tools like video, photography and online platforms to draw attention to issues in a way that is sometimes provocative or controversial in order to spark conversation around topics people feel excluded from mainstream discussions. Both new and tactical media offer opportunities to raise awareness of environmental problems and solutions in a way that is open, collaborative and extends the impact of outreach efforts.

We are merging with technology. We will become “Conscious-Technology” beings.
Google Glass, Internet of Things, heart pacemakers, the works! Voice recognition and voice synthesis with artificial intelligence imbedded through the built environment will make inanimate objects seem conscious. We will import advance tech in and on our bodies and export our consciousness to technology. These imports/export will seem to merge into a continuum of consciousness and technology. The quality of this merger will depend on how well we can blend our mystic-self with our technocratic self, as individuals and as a species. By mystic I simply mean one whose primary focus is improving life by enhancing consciousness; by technocrat I simply mean one whose primary focus for improving life is with new technologies and policies. We are all part mystic and part technocrat, but we tend to be more of one than the other. Seeking harmony, balance, synergy between the two seems right to me. Like the musician, instrument, and music merge in a great performance.
Merging the attitudes of the mystic toward life with the technocratic’s knowledge of life makes life work and be worthwhile.
Arts, media, and music technologies can be designed and used from a mystic attitude. Experiencing performances of such technologies should enhance our consciousness. From such enhanced consciousness new technologies can be conceived. And so on to become a more aesthetic future conscious-technology civilization.
The explosive, accelerating growth of knowledge in a rapidly changing and increasingly interdependent world gives us so much to know about so many things that it seems impossible to keep up. At the same time, we are flooded with so much trivial news that serious attention to serious issues gets little interest, and too much time is wasted going through useless information.

Digital Tech, New Media, and the Internet in Nonviolent Struggledaryncambridge
In this presentation, Daryn Cambridge, director for Knowledge and Digital Strategies at the International Center on Nonviolent Conflict discusses how nonviolent movements are leveraging advances in digital tech, new media, and the internet to aid their struggle.
A tale from the future, by Eugenio Battagliabioflux
You might have heard of a new breed of organisational models, responding to the fast growing adaptability, engagement and collaboration needs within modern company structures. Or you might have simply experienced the sound problems of slowness, rigidity, bureaucracy, disengagement along with various kinds of waste and bottlenecks that “traditional” organisational models generate and suffer nowadays. What if OpenDrop is the first real experiment of a new way of doing research and business, together with a constantly growing, loosely coupled and horizontally managed team of value driven innovators? This is a tale from the future where in the development of OpenDrop (OD) we have deployed an innovative governance and operations management system which is meant to be adaptive, dynamic and anti-fragile. Where we have successfully layed the foundations for our governance in the principles of commons-based peer production and liquid management allowing anyone to contribute, and for this contribution to be accounted.
About the speaker:
Eugenio studied molecular and system biotechnology with a specialization in integrative neuroscience. He experiment in the field of Life Sciences with emerging and low-cost technologies, solving global issues and exploring novel forms of ethical deliberation. He led the development and management of several projects acquiring the tools to deal with an increasingly complex and multidisciplinary environment. His mission is to build and nurture a collaborative society by connecting people, organisations and ideas around fairness, openness and trust. He supports meaningful projects in social innovation, enabling fruitful collaborations with public institutions and progressive companies that want to build a resilient society.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.
Gopinath Rebala
Gopinath Rebala is the CTO of OpsMx, where he has overall responsibility for the machine learning and data processing architectures for Secure Software Delivery. Gopi also has a strong connection with our customers, leading design and architecture for strategic implementations. Gopi is a frequent speaker and well-known leader in continuous delivery and integrating security into software delivery.
