Mega Session: Employee Engagement in the "Now of Work" - Jason Averbook (Soci...SocialHRCamp
The biggest challenge to engaging employees is FOCUS. (P) We have thousands of ways to “engage,” but HR is siloed and cross-functional with different teams responsible for engaging at moments that matter. This dilutes the overall focus on the entire employee lifecycle, leading to missed moments, fractured experiences, and unnecessary friction points at best. At worst, disengaged employees are dissatisfied and less productive, even detractors to organizational culture and your customer experience. (P) The Now of Work is a state of working that is distributed, digital, and driven more than ever by technology intended to keep us connected. Adding complexity is the extended workforce; not all your workers are fully employed, but everyone needs and deserves the same easy, frictionless experience of work for your company. (P) Here’s the crux: technology alone doesn’t drive connection or engagement. That requires an intentional approach and a digital way of thinking. Jason Averbook explains the Digital Equation for Employee Engagement success in this inspiring keynote.

Soccnx III - Measure, reward , enhance: leverage user adoption with gamificationLetsConnect
Speakers: Sasja Beerendonk
When implementing social software such as IBM Connections within your organisation you will find that user adoption is key to success. When confronted with social software that requires a different work manner and attitude employees often find themselves clueless how to get started. Using gamification you can guide your employees step-by-step into the right direction, and take them to a higher level of understanding and using the tool. Kudos Badges and Bunchball Level Up use gamification techniques to leverage adoption of IBM Connections. This presentation will outline how gamification can enhance employees' understanding of Connections and what it takes to collaborate in a social and open manner. Through points, badges, levels and leaderboards a user is guided in the right direction and becomes more engaged. What is gamification? What motivates us? How can gamification be used to leverage adoption of Connections so it can contribute to the organisation's business goals? How does Kudos or Bunchball work? From Maslow’s Need to Pink’s Drive you will understand the basic concepts of motivation that gamification uses. You will see a live demo on gamification for Connections.

Perceived and Actual Role of Gamification PrinciplesMichael Meder
Although gamification has successfully been applied in office scenarios, it remains unclear how employees really feel about the introduction of a gamified system at their workplace.
In this paper, we address this issue from two directions. First, we present the outcome of an online survey where we analyze users' opinion about gamification in a workplace environment. Then, we analyze the interaction logs of a re-designed gamified enterprise bookmarking system to compare the employees' subjective perception of gamification with their actual behavior when using a gamified system. Results indicate that there is a strong relationship between employees' perception of gamification and their actual interaction with such system.

A number of fast growing companies, particularly in the tech sector, are getting ready to sprint to the IPO goal line. Most of these organizations, are looking to rev their sales engine to produce quarter on quarter top line growth.
This context is ripe for leaders of these organizations, especially the ones with complex sales cycles, to answer the question – what does it take to win the race?
But instead, it would serve most organizations to rephrase the question as – what does it take to win a relay race?
A relay race is relevant here because a healthy sales engine is often a great combination of sales engagement and sales readiness.
